Selby loses money betting on Sammy Lee, the racehorse. When he calls Allegra (Anna Chancellor) by her name, she reminds him of her carrying him for 7-1/2 months. He suggests another 1-1/2 months would be too much for her before asking for some of his father’s cash. She accuses him of dragging the family name down. He asks if he did more harm than his father. She assures him that he will get there. After a bit of back and forth, he walks away angry.
Gloria (Ronke Adeoleujo) opens the mortuary refrigerator door to show Costello Jones (Daisy May Cooper) a dead body. Costello tells her that she has a dinner date with Richard (Tom Durant Pritchard). Gloria suggests she hasn’t had sex since 2012 before asking if she’ll break the tradition tonight with Richard. Costello admits it’s her goal.
Richard climbs into a dumpster to search through the rubbish. Costello walks away to encounter Selby who demands to see her date. She tells him that Richard is going to cook her dinner. Selby invites them to dinner. She accuses him of “cockblocking” her.
Iris asks Gloria to explain a “wh*re.” Gloria says Divine Brown, Julia Roberts, and Moll Flanders. Iris questions if her mum is a wh*re because Ava’s mum saw Costello’s story in the newspaper. She says Ava controls the school playground. Gloria offers to straighten Ava out.
Selby tells Richard that Costello is more enjoyable when she isn’t sober. Richard assures him that she’s fun while reaching out to touch her hand before she pulls back. Selby claims she has a habit of pushing people away. Richard asks if they dated. Selby describes himself as a “classical homosexual.” Selby says it’s been a decade since she had sex before congratulating him for winning the “f**k lottery.” Richard suggests their relationship is toxic.
Paul (Sam Hazeldine) claims his father left after his mum died of cancer. He grew up in various foster and care homes. She says her mum left when she was eight and she’s a disappointment to her father.
An intoxicated Selby warns Costello that Richard is a pervert. She says he’ll never let her meet anyone. He pleads with her to never take Iris away from him. She assures him that is something she will never do. He suggests not sleeping with Richard because he’s using her to be authentic. She’ll give him a blowjob and handjob. He says she’s better than Richard’s penis in her mouth.
Richard professes to like Costello. She admits to being scared. He ejaculates while putting on a condom. He lays down beside her and weeps.
Selby is trying to urinate when Mason knocks on the door. He says he should be looking for his money, not cock. Selby assures him that he’ll get his money.

Costello asks Gloria to pick Iris up at school. Gloria suggests asking Selby since she’s spending all her time with him. She informs her of Iris’s schoolmate, Ava, suggesting she’s a wh*re since the newspaper article. Costello promises to handle it. Gloria says she owes her.
Selby informs Allegra of the money that he owes Mason. He pleads with her to pay the money to keep him safe. After giving Mason a check, she orders Selby to move into the house in Bruton.
Lenny (Adrian Edmondson) paints Costello’s private parts. She admits to only wanting to feel attractive. He says she’s still young. She informs him of the card from her mum. He describes her vagina as “messy” but “magnificent” before showing her his painting.
Costello arrives home to find Iris upset with Gloria for calling Ava’s mum a “silly, boring bi**h.” Costello reminds her of what she said about handling it. Gloria sarcastically says she would wet herself if it were Selby. She professes to love Iris before leaving. Costello assures her that it’ll be all right. Iris asks if she’d like to her. Costello says of course because she loves her.
Selby informs Costello of his going to Bruton. She reminds him of his parole. He counts himself lucky because damaged men are everywhere. She gives him the card from her mum. He suggests facing her mum now. Costello agrees to do it but not now. He invites her to go with him to Bruton. She reminds him of Iris. He agrees to adopt her.
Iris asks if she can go to a new school. Costello promises they’ll have a normal life. Selby is waiting on them when they arrive. They drive away as the episode comes to an end.
Rain Dogs Review
After a long hiatus, Costello decides to have sex with Richard. Their date starts with Richard dumpster-diving and gets worse when Selby invites them to dinner. Costello and Richard’s sexual interlude gets as far as him ejaculating while pulling on a condom. She kicks him out the next morning after catching him masturbating.
Released from prison, Mason seeks out Selby to get his 20K. Selby asks Allegra for the money. After giving Mason a check, she orders Selby to move to Bruton. He invites Costello to go with him. She and Iris pack their bags and leave their apartment behind.
Disappointedly, the quality of the writing dropped in this episode. The dialogue is raunchier than ever before. If this continues, the show won’t be worth watching. The episode deserves a 5.5.
