Agatha Christie is one of the most successful writers of all time with her books having sold more than a billion copies in English. With 66 murder mysteries, most have had the pleasure of enjoying at least one Agatha Christie murder mystery. The Mousetrap is the longest-running play of all time and many of her classic workers are still being adapted for television and film.

Behind the books, Agatha Christie had her own mysterious side. PBS is releasing two new specials in an attempt to solve the mystery while exploring the life and times of the woman who revolutionized crime fiction. Both specials are narrated by Samantha Bond and will be filled with clips from movies and TV series based on Christie’s novels.

They’ll also feature home movies and audio recordings of the famous writer. It all kicks off on Sunday, January 17 at 10:00 PM ET with Inside The Mind Of Agatha Christie. Relying on rare access to family, scholars, and Agatha’s personal archive, the special explores what made the successful crime author tick.

Dr. John Curran has spent years studying Christie’s personal archive and will appear alongside others to explain how the author used her experiences to create unforgettable plots. A week later on January 24 at 10 PM ET, fans will venture to Agatha Christie’s England and learn how the settings from her novels were based on real places.

The special explores how Christie relies on her surroundings and the people she encountered to create her timeless masterpieces. Along the way, viewers will make a stop at Ugbrook House where Agatha Christie met her fried husband. The special will also explore Abney Hall and Brown’s Hotel.

Both specials will stream simultaneously with broadcast. Inside The Mind Of Agatha Christie is produced and directed by Matt Cottingham while Agatha Christie’s England is filmed, produced, and directed by Toby Roebuck.
