Do-Si-Do – The episode opens with Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin) and Cecilia Abbott (Lili Taylor) returning home from the West Pasture to find Autumn Rivers (Imogen Poots) frantically on the walls of her room. While writing, Autumn says Rebecca Abbott (Monette Moio) and Lewis Mays (Williams Belleau) were together at the rodeo. Cupping Royal’s face in her hands, she says he means everything to her and they share something deeply before collapsing to the floor. A short time later, Autumn is asleep. Royal attributes Autumn’s ability to tap into the past to the black hole minerals.
Rhett Abbott (Lewis Pullman) wakes up to find Maria Olivares’ (Isabel Arraiza) side of the bed empty. He finds her outside mulling over being forced to stay in Wabang. She admits to being too afraid to quit her job. Autumn is awake and reluctant to talk about her visions. She assures Cecilia that she would never want to hurt her before going for a walk. Cecilia points out that Autumn no longer has scars on her face. Royal and Rhett ride out to the West Pasture where the black hole remains hole. Royal asks Rhett to watch Autumn while they go look for Rebecca and Amy Abbott (Olive Abercrombie).
Amy dreams about being mad and her eyes turn black. She sees Autumn in the same state. Rebecca tries to comfort her by saying the nightmare is gone. Elsewhere, Deputy Sheriff Joy (Tamara Podemski) finds an 1800s photo of her with the Shoshone. She tells Martha Hawk (Morningstar Angeline) that Shelton Cape tried to kill her and sexually assault a girl from the Shoshone tribe.
Wayne Tillerson (Will Patton) suggests Billy Tillerson (Noah Reid) still has hard feelings toward toward Luke Tillerson (Shaun Sipos). He admits to keeping the black hole to himself because his sons weren’t ready to hear it. Luke says he went about it all wrong. Wayne attributes his waking up from a coma and Billy’s ability to sing to the West Pasture. Luke takes Billy a tray of food. Billy asks if he removed anything from his room. Luke denies taking anything that belonged to him and offers him a bite of food. When Billy spits in it, Luke eats it and says it is good. Billy asks if he would die for Autumn. Luke says she no longer needs him. Billy suggests he gave Autumn the minerals. Luke urges him to eat and professes to love him before leaving.
Young Cecilia (Megan West) threatens to send Perry Abbott (Tom Pelphrey) who she believes is Ben away if he doesn’t apologize to young Wayne Tillerson (Daniel Abeles). Perry sarcastically apologizes for interfering with Wayne and the woman at the bar. Wayne accuses him of lying. Perry apologizes to Cecilia for Wayne being a “dick.” She intervenes to stop them from fighting. Laughing, Young Royal Abbott (Christian James) compliments him.
Admitting Autumn was right about him not doing enough to help the Abbott family, Pastor Ken (Johnny Sneed) convinced Ty Riggins to pay the bail. Royal and Cecilia thank him but believe the Abbott ranch should have never been utilized as collateral. At a pub, Dr. Nia Bintu (Yrsa Daley-Ward) approaches Rhett about the West Pasture. He suggests talking to Royal. She assures him that she already did but he is stubborn. She warns of what will happen if they do not let her help them. He refuses to go against Royal.
Cecilia attacks Lewis with a pipe wrench while Royal watches. They demand to know where Rebecca took Amy. When Lewis refuses to tell them, Royal puts the tip of his gun barrel on his forehead. Lewis claims they are at Echoes, a women’s shelter in Fourwing. Cecilia takes his phone.
Judge Pettigrew (Michael O’Neill) informs Wayne that the Abbott ranch will not change hands because the bail was paid. Wayne recalls Pettigrew’s promise to handle it. When an officer opens the door, Pettigrew assures him that it is okay. Wayne steps forward and places his hand on Pettigrew. At a local bank, Autumn is checking your account balance when she encounters Maria. She claims to have insight into the future and urges her to leave Rhett before he leaves her. Seeing her account balance, she storms out of the bank.
Luke sticks his head into the black hole. Young Wayne tells young Luke (Preston Alkire) to not be afraid of death. A group of people are kneeling. Autumn goes from one person to another smearing minerals on their bottom lip. He sees Wayne’s face with black eyes before removing his head from the hole and collapsing to the ground. At a local pub, Wayne tells the barkeep (Paul Blott) to get him drunk. Joy visits the Abbott farm but no one is home. She hears a humming noise. In town, Rhett hears the same noise. Unconscious on the Abbott’s porch, Joy wakes up to the dispatcher on the police radio. It has been 30 minutes since she passed out.
Dippie’s – Autumn envisions Amy eating an ice cream cone with Rhett at one of the tables. Luke takes a seat across from her. Autumn tells him that she is Amy. Grasping his hand, she stresses the need for Amy to be there for it to work. She claims to have seen him in her future, not Billy.
Perry sees young Royal and Sissy Abbott (Ashlynn Hideman) kissing. As he is leaving with Chet (Cole Jackson), Royal yells at him. Perry throws his hat at Royal and curses him.
The Handsome Gambler – Wayne unfolds a signature handkerchief to display a pile of minerals. He dips his wet fingers into the minerals and places them in his mouth. He recalls him and two guys beating Rhett outside the pub. With eyes now black, he says no one messes with him. When Royal arrives, he shoots one of Wayne’s friends. Wayne orders him to leave the Abbott land. With the tip of his gun on Wayne’s forehead, Royal says he leaves and Wayne dies. Back in his truck, Royal offers to take Perry to the hospital but he refuses to go. Perry complains about ringing in his ears. Royal says the hole may have opened back up because he heard the ringing before it closed when he was a boy. A short time later, Perry tosses his wedding band into the black hole. He recalls Amy’s lisp and how she called Royal “gwamdpa.”
Luke tells Billy that Autumn never saw him in her future and they are together now. Billy recalls how he loved Luke for defending him against Sam Killen. Getting in his face, Billy he will have to fight him for Autumn. Luke professes to love him but refuses to give her up. A fight ensues and ends with Luke hitting Billy on the head with a fire poke. Blood running down his head, Billy gradually collapses to the ground. Frantic, Luke screams his name.
During a phone call, Joy tells Royal that she lost time but only a minute passed. He claims it happened to him and asks if she talked to Martha. She suggests Martha would never understand. When the call ends, Maria and Rhett arrive asking for Autumn. Maria tells them that Autumn urged her to leave Rhett. Cecilia promises to talk to Autumn. Luke picks Autumn up at Dippie’s. Wayne senses something is wrong with Billy as the episode ends.
Outer Range Review
Joy is plagued with the aftereffects of time travel. She seeks advice from Royal who is now accustomed to it. Wayne is none too happy when he hears Perry’s bail has been paid. He confronts Judge Pettigrew who ensured him the land would be his. Pettigrew says it is out of his hands.
Billy wakes up from a coma. He challenges Luke for Autumn. Not wanting to fight him, Luke is forced to utilize a fire poke to save his own life. Billy suffers a severe head injury. Autumn sees Luke in her future, not Billy.
Young Wayne and two friends beat up Perry after he tells young Cecilia that he cheated. Young Royal shoots one of Wayne’s friends to protect Perry and threatens to kill Wayne if he is forced to leave the Abbott farm.
Lewis is threatened into giving up Rebecca’s location. Cecilia and Royal plan to bring her and Amy home. In the meantime, Autumn and Luke are looking for them as well.
