It is generally believed that video games are only for children and teens. A new study released by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) disputes that claim. The study claims that more than 164 million adults across the United States play video games. It also suggests that three-quarters of all American households have at least one video game player in their midst. The study, which was titled “2019 Essential Facts About the Computer and Video Game Industry”, finally shatters the myth that all gamers live in their parent’s basements and rarely see the light of day.
The study goes on to show that gamers are a cross-section of the American popular. And, the group is diverse, active, and engaged in their communities. They also see video games as a positive force in modern society. A big majority of the group said that video games provided them with mental stimulation, relaxation, and stress relief.
A little more than half of the group are college educated. The numbers just go to show that you cannot always believe the stereotypes. Be sure to undo your skewed opinion about gamers by checking out the numbers for yourself here.
