She’s A Lot – At the start of episode 3, Emmy/Emmaline Talia Shapiro (Lauren Collins) has just begun her vacation. Her attempts to adopt a new outlook on life are thwarted the instant Fern Shapiro (Megan Follows) shows up to remind her of the breakfast dishes in the sink.
Things are certainly no less stressful when Fern makes another surprise visit during Emmy’s outing with Layla (Jenny Raven) to a used clothing store. It doesn’t take Layla long to pick up on this and ask her about it. Emmy not only tells her about Jay’s (Rainbow Sun Francks) urgent desire to start a family but she also confesses to being scared that motherhood might turn her into Fern.
Layla attempts to assure her that she would be a good mother and always have her support but this only adds to Emmy’s worries. After mentioning that she couldn’t even grow a tomato plant, Emmy is outside trying to unburden herself to a small child, Shayle (Theo Freeman) who is engrossed in his tablet. Despite that, he tells her that she’s sad and weird when his mother calls his attention.
Emmy spends a few more minutes on the bench before she stumbles into a customized teddy bear store, Stuff–A-Fluff store, and meets Dylan (Matt Murray). Despite being extremely pleasant, Dylan is nowhere near as accommodating as Shayle and speeds the process along. Emmy returns to the bench and spends the remainder of the afternoon contemplating her decision.
The episode ends with Emmy returning home later that evening to tell Jay that she is ready to start a family. He couldn’t be happier.
My Dead Mom Review
Being that the episode was so short there isn’t a whole lot to say. I was happy to learn a bit more about Emmy’s social life and the customized bear scene was fairly intriguing. I found it interesting that Emmy and Layla chose to spend their day at a secondhand store. All in all, I’d have to give the episode a 5 out of 10 based on the simple fact that a crucial point was reached in the plot. Now that Emmy has decided to proceed with starting a family, I am almost betting that there will be medical complications.
