Drones – The episode opens with drones dropping packages into the prison yard. After retrieving the packages, inmates take them to the kitchen where the drugs are cut, weighed, and bagged.
Deverin “Bunny” Washington (Tobi Bamtefa) and Mayor Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) watch the drones drop more drug packages. Bunny admits to clearing the way for Mike to get him released. Mike warns that his actions will only make it more difficult for him. Bunny assures him that he won’t be inside long enough to establish a distro. Mike reminds him of why he’s there.
Mike orders Carney (Lane Garrison) to closely monitor Davidson (Matt Gerald) and alert him if Aryan Brotherhood correctional officers make any moves. Carney claims the guards have already been ordered to loosen their grip. Mike asks if he is affiliated with the Aryan Brotherhood correctional officers. Carney admits to detesting them all.
Mike intervenes in a gang altercation. He orders the gangs to return to their block. Bunny’s Sergeant (Mark McKinnon) says Rhonda (Nona Parker Johnson) wants him to check in on them sometime. Mike agrees to do it.
Captain Heard (Robert Stewart) asks Kyle McLusky (Taylor Handley) if they are prepared to meet with IA. Kyle asks why they’re on trial for the prison riot when they were the ones being victimized. Heard says for the people with money, it is a “dog and pony show.” Kyle assures him that Robert (Hamish Allan-Headley) was doing his job, keeping them all alive. Heard tells him that they want someone to go down for it.
Bunny and Raphael (D Smoke) find their cells empty. Carney says Mike arranged for them to have a new cell.
Mike assures Assistant DA Evelyn Foley (Necar Zadegan) that he never ordered the hit on DA Lockett (Lawrence Adimora). She threatens to have him thrown out of her office if he doesn’t voluntarily leave. He reminds her of Lockett reneging on his deal with Bunny, Gunner (Dylan Kenin), Luis (Reinaldo Faberlle), and Dedrick (Marcus Brandon). He tells her that she can make it right. She warns that they’re at war. He assures her that the war will end when she signs the treaty.
Kyle tells Ian (Hugh Dillon) and Mike that Heard says to get their stories straight. Ian tells him that Robert and his men saved their lives. Robert informs them of Ben Morrisey being the rat. Kyle says he was on their side before suggesting he killed about 20 inmates. Mike tells them that he’ll take care of it.
Coco (Ash Santos) and Iris (Emma Laird) are talking when Tatiana (Gratiela Brancusi) orders them to work the bar. She informs Iris that Milo Sunter (Aidan Gillen) will send for her. Iris asks if it will be tonight. Tatiana says maybe he’ll forget her.
Tracy McLusky (Nishi Munshi) watches as Kyle drinks a beer. After asking her not to judge him, he admits to being stressed over the IA meeting. She assures him that she has nothing to do with how he’s feeling.
Charlie (Kenny Johnson) asks Ian to pray with him. After saying the body was where he told them it would be, Ian tells him that the Ohio State Police will want to talk to him. He asks when was his last dental appointment. Charlie admits he doesn’t like the dentist. Ian suggests driving him to the dentist’s office.

Mariam McLusky (Dianne Wiest) calls Mike to see if he spoke with Jacob (Jake Schur). Mike promises to take care of it while pulling into the prison parking lot. He spots a drone hovering above. As he charges the drone tech (John E. Tremba), his phone rings. He answers the phone to hear a recorded message, asking if he’ll accept a message from Gunner. Mike says it’s the old-fashioned way or not at all. Gunner reminds him of their deal. Mike tells him that he didn’t stand up to his side of the deal. Gunner assures him that he had nothing to do with Aryan Brotherhood getting the edge. Mike threatens to let him rot in prison if he fails to honor their deal.
Kyle is having a drink at a pub when he spots Iris. He leaves Mike a voicemail at his office that Iris has been found as the episode comes to end.
Mayor Of Kingstown Review
Mike pulls some strings to get Bunny and Raphael moved to a larger cell with a kitchen. With Lockett out of the way, Evelyn still refuses to sign the treaty.
Gunner has drones to drop drugs into the prison yard, reneging on his deal with Mike. Putting an end to the drops, Mike tells Gunner that he’ll earn the old-fashioned way or rot in prison.
Ian, Robert, and Kyle are scheduled to meet with IA. Robert finds out that Ben Morrisey who was on their side during the prison riot ratted to the IA.
Kyle is having a drink in a bar when he spots Iris. He calls Mike’s office but he’s out.
The short episodes are complicating the storyline. The flow is altered with too many plotlines. More airtime could help but for now, it feels rushed and cluttered.

Man this show is bad and getting worse. I suppose they took the finale and split it into two parts to milk the viewership. I don’t suspect anything will be resolved.
1923, which ended Sunday, was equally frustrating. They will need a whole second series just to close-out all the loose ends from the first. In fact one might say that the first 8 episodes was half a season.
I’m about done with Ty Sheridan productions. While 1897 was really good and 1923 was at least passable they really screwed the pooch on Mayor of Kingstown season 2. And Yellowstone is just unwatchable.
Your Honor is just a much better show all around. People should quit waiting time on the Ty Sheridan garbage and watch that instead. Also Unforgotten started yesterday on ITV though I couldn’t find a source yesterday. It will probably be posted today. I’m certain that Carey Mulligan will bring appropriate gravitas to the role replacing Nicola Walker.
Poker Face is also descent enough. It’s a dark comedy so I guess I don’t expect too much. It’s at least entertaining.
Not Carey Mulligan. My bad. It’s the woman who was in Being Human with Russel Tovey and Aidan Turner. Nina was her name on that show. 😁
Yep! Been waiting to get access to Unforgotten as well since it is usually one of my favorites. Had to look the name up myself. It is Sinead Keenan and she is very good in a lot of decent shows including Little Boy Blue and Three Families. Can’t wait to watch it.
It seems like the whole Paramount+ service is dependent on Sheridan’s works at this point Kingstown, Tulsa King, Yellowstone and all its spinoffs. Should’ve spread the wealth and opened the door to some new ideas, new writers, ect. The Diplomat is out now too although the opening episode was just okay.
Good thing about Sheridan’s work is that the episodes are easy to recap. They’re short and almost always so simple lol.
Agree with most here. The short episodes don’t allow for any organic plot lines, it was difficult enough previously. Disclaimer: I’ve watched and enjoyed all of the shows so far, but…
Experiencing TS through all of his shows (and there’s yet another new one coming) in close order makes it easy to see his strengths and his shortcomings. Strengths? He has his agenda in order and prominently displayed, and it’s simple: manly men. Lloyd from Yellowstone said it best: “Yee-haw! Cowboy shit!
In a nutshell. I don’t want to write a dissertation on how this plays out, or the way he draws women characters, and especially, unfortunately, for such a popular writer who leaves the viewer wondering, “WTF was that all about?” TS seems to do better at character speeches than dialog. It becomes obvious through all of the shows. For some reason Mike (Jeremy Renner) turned up the dial on channeling Robert Mitchum except with more mumbling and a freer moral compass. I thing his mom(Dianne Wiest) handles the scripts the best, not merely are her speeches short, she displays her acting chops well. And is more or less wasted in the role. I had to wonder if she owed someone a favor.
