Les Norton Season 1 Episode 8 Recap

episode 8 les norton goergie

As the episode starts, we find out that Constable Emily Gold (Syd Zygier) is actually working with internal affairs. She is told that she might be in over her head. Gold doesn’t believe so. She says that she needs someone on the inside to help her. Meanwhile, Billy (Hunter Page-Lochard) learns that Les (Alexander Bertrand) has problems. While they’re chatting a few cowboys try to enter the casino. Les approaches them and tries to convince them to leave. One of the cowboys knows karate. He chops Les in the neck before being knocked to the ground. Seconds later, Price (David Wenham) introduces Les to Mick Matthews (Peter Phelps). Matthews agrees to give Les the chance to try out for the Roosters.

At first, Les doesn’t want to do it. Mick talks him into it so Les decides to give it a go. After the intro, Dolores (Rebel Wilson) goes to an aerobics class so she can get closer to Chenille (Susan Prior). Dolores manages to strike up a relationship with her. They go out for wine after that. Arthit (Benhur Helwend) watches them from a distance. Dolores explains that he is her driver. Chenille seems to like that. Back at home, Lozza (Kate Box) complains to Les that he isn’t helping enough around the apartment. He tells her that he is going to be trying out for the Roosters.

When Les shows up for the tryouts, he finds out that Foghorn (Ian Roberts) is there as well. Les gets slapped around a bit in the locker room. He isn’t used to the type of training they do. Nevertheless, he manages to complete the training. At the police station, Thumper (Steve Le Marquand) calls Emily aside. He gets her to watch the door while he roughly interrogates a suspect. Les returns home and finds Emily on the steps. She tries to convince him that she is trying to help. She wants to know the truth. He asks if she is speaking as a mate or an officer. She asks if it matters. It does to Les so he storms off and heads inside.

At the next practice, Les is given a jacket for the roosters. He is now a member of the team. The police officer who impounded his car earlier confronts him. This ticks off Les. During the practices, the man tries to elbow Les in the face. Instead, Les flips him over his shoulder and the man ends up being seriously injured. This means that Foghorn will be starting and Les will sit on the bench. Les is forced to speak about his mother as a part of the training. Later, he joins Billy and stands outside the Kelly Club. Les tells him about the crazy tryouts before he finds out that he is in the newspaper. The Bender boys find out about it and decide to throw Les off a rooftop to get even.

Inside, Georgie (Pallavi Sharda) and Price speak about the minister not doing much for them. Soon, Billy and Les join them. Billy convinces everyone to share a drink together for Les. In the morning, Les gets up and gets prepared for the game. Lozza arrives at the stadium and sits with Georgie. Price realizes that Georgie is drinking way too much when she normally doesn’t drink at all. Muzza (Stephen Peacocke) sits in the bar to watch his brother’s game. During the game, Emily ignores a call from her boss and watches the game as well. The game goes on and on while Les remains on the bench. Eventually, Foghorn gets injured and Les is put in. By this time, Georgie is very drunk. Price is worried that she might be drinking too much.

Les makes a good hit. However, the ref is the man from prison. He is still not happy with Les so he gives him a penalty that keeps Les out of the game for the rest of it. Mick goes off on Les in the locker room. Les decides to quit. After he leaves, Les is attacked by the Bender boys. Lozza and Georgie share drinks alongside Billy. They notice that Les is being led up the stairs nearby. The Bender boys try to throw Les over the ledge. Billy manages to beat the guys up and save Les. Georgie takes Les home and tries to path him up. She is just too drunk. Georgie ends up throwing up and taking a shower. Les agrees to sleep with her but they do not have sex. Price leaves home in the morning. He buys sunflowers and coffee.

Meanwhile, Georgie wakes up with Les. She is glad that they didn’t sleep together. She thanks Les before telling him that he can’t let Price found out because he has a thing for her. Les tries to leave in a hurry. However, Price notices through the door. He leaves the flowers and coffee before leaving. Les picks up the flowers on his way out. Price goes home and learns that Chenille has been hanging out with Dolores. Price tells Eddie (Justin Rosniak) that he wants her killed. Eddie gets into the brothel and finds Thumper in a sex swing of shorts. Dolores confronts Eddie with a shotgun and Thumper struggles to get his gun. Thumper hits the sex party button and the room becomes chaotic. Eddie leaves and it looks like he has blood on his shirt.

He returns to Les and tells him about Ray. Dolores tries to convince Ray to arrest Price but Ray doesn’t believe it will be that easy. Dolores asks if Ray was in on killing her sister. She says they should pin the murder on Price. Les arrives at the police station and gives the sunflowers to Emily. He smooths things over with her before leaving and the episode ends.

Les Norton Review

This was a pretty good episode of Les Norton. I’ve enjoyed the entire season and this episode too. The rugby action with Les was funny but a little short lived. I would have liked to see him play a little longer. Still, that is the type of life Les lives. He has the worst yet best luck. Price knows that Dolores is after him. She has made a move on his family. From here on out, things should start heating up between them. It will be interesting to see how Price handles Les and Georgie too.

This episode was fun. It scores a 7 out of 10. Be sure to catch up with previous recaps of Les Norton before you go.
