Les Norton Season 1 Episode 5 Recap

les norton crabs cocaine

At the start of the episode, Les Norton (Alexander Bertrand) speaks with Lozza (Kate Box) about her night. In flashbacks, we see that she spent the night with the Thai men. She complains to Les about the house being filthy while several men sneak out of her bedroom. Les promises that he’ll fix things before the day is finished. When Lozza leaves, Les begins working on it right away. Dolores (Rebel Wilson) goes through her sister’s belongings and tries to figure out ways to get back at Price (David Wenham). Arthit (Benhur Helwend) drop the Thai guys off at Les’ apartment. They sneak inside and start planning a trap for Les.

Les nearly returns home but leaves when he comes up with a plan. After the intro, Les gets in tough with Gary (George Xanthis) about some fish. Gary gets on his nerves very quickly. He also tells Les that the fish are brought in from China so they’re cancer. They’ll give you cancer. Gary convinces him to go out on the boat with him. The Thai guys continue waiting for Les to arrive. Les meets Gary at the boat. He is forced to pay 10 to go out on the water. He only has 20 so Gary takes it all. Les and Gray do not have much success out there on the water.

Constable Emily Gold (Syd Zygier) goes to work. She finds money in her locker. Back on the water, Les spots a crab trap in the distance. He contemplates stealing the crabs but Gary convinces him that it would be a terrible plan. Emily learns from Thumper (Steve Le Marquand) that she is going to be let go when her probationary period ends. She pleads with him to keep her around but Ray isn’t willing to listen. She goes back to the locker room and smashes things around a bit. Les and Gary make it back to land. Gary agrees to split the loot with him for the remaining 10. Les refuses and tells him that he better have his money when he sees him next.

Les takes to the surfboard with the intention of getting the crabs. He paddles out and grabs the trap. Inside, he finds crabs and drugs. On his way back to the beach, he is nearly run over by a man on a jet ski. The Thai guys become bored. They play crossword puzzles and look through the fridge. They spot Les through the window and prepare to strike but he never ends. He hides the crabs and takes some of the cocaine. Les takes the drugs to Lozza and she confirms that it is cocaine. Billy Dunne (Hunter Page-Lochard) finds a card from the Bognor brothel in his bag. He looks around but nobody is there.

Ray meets with Price for a drink. Ray tells him about his decision to sack Emily. When Ray leaves, Les enters. After a little back and forth, Les tells Price about Ray being spotted with Bognor. Ray receives a phone call from Price. He meets up with Price and Eddie (Justin Rosniak) a short time later. Ray promises that he is on Price’s side. Price seems suspicious but he lets Ray go anyway. Ray goes back to the office and tells Emily that they have a job to do. They raid the Bognor brothel with the intention of stealing a video tape. Emily finds it and another one. When the search is over, Ray stays and has sex with Dolores. Les meets up with Billy and learns about the card.

Les doesn’t believe they should tell Price. Then, they talk about the cocaine. Billy tells Les that he needs to give it back or bad things are going to happen to him. Les grabs the cocaine and heads back to the beach. At the station, Emily gives the video tape to Thumper. She pretends she doesn’t want to know what is on it. Two older sunbathers believe that Les is spying on them with his binoculars. He spots the man on the jet ski. He grabs the crab trap and looks inside. The man goes back to a nearby rental store. Les calls the number and tells him that he has the drugs. Soon, the drug baron (Andrew Den) arrives.

Les calls again and makes an arrangement for the drugs. He is surprised that they’re willing to offer 25,000 in exchange for the cocaine. Emily has managed to win back Thumper’s trust. He believes he can make a Kings Cross copper out of her. Before she leaves, she takes the second video tape with her. Les makes the exchange. When he leaves, the drug dealer sends his hitman after Les. Les returns home and nearly goes inside. Instead, he goes back downstairs and hides the money. The hitman goes inside and shooting is heard. Les checks the apartment and finds everyone dead.

He calls Eddie hoping he can find a solution to the problem. Les calls his cleaner Dingo to deal with the mess. We learn that Les will likely spend all of the money he made on Dingo’s services. Eddie agrees to offer the hitman’s car to Dingo in exchange for the cleaning service. Les goes to Gary and overhears him making fun of him. Les scares him and takes his money back. At the end of the episode, Les manages to fulfill his promise to Lozza. He even has a lobster dinner for her. The only problem is that she has done too much cocaine to eat.

Les Norton Review

Les Norton has to be one of the luckiest people on the planet. He managed to unwittingly evade the Thai hitmen during the entire episode. He stole cocaine and gave it back without getting executed by the drug baron’s hitman. Emily Gold has found a way to impress Thumper and keep her job. However, Ray might be on the outs with Price. His relationship with Bognor may come back to haunt him. Les Norton is an insane roller coaster. It isn’t the most realistic show in the world but it is highly entertaining.

I like it a lot and can’t wait to finish the season. If you like funny Aussie shows, this one is worth your time. This episode scores a 7.5 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Les Norton on Reel Mockery right now!
