Killing It Season 2 Episode 7 Recap

On The Inside – As this episode begins, Craig (Craig Robinson) realizes something is wrong when he heard about Dr. Todd. He tells RN Downey that Dr. Todd isn’t a real doctor. As she goes to get security, Craig explains that Dr. Todd is actually Isaiah (Rell Battle). Brock (Scott MacArthur) admits he isn’t going to be able to pay for his medical care, but the college fund for Corby (Wyatt Walter) is safe. Craig steps away to call Prada and tell her what has happened. Rodney (Tim Heidecker) tells Prada that they got the call with Macao.

Prada promises to be there in a second. Once Rodney leaves, Prada tells Craig he better get there and stop Isaiah before he gives the dongle to Rodney. Craig waits for Isaiah with Corby and Brock. They discuss ways to deal with him. Brock wants to knock him out using the needles he stole from the hospital since one of them has to be filled with anesthesia. He ends up stabbing himself before Craig and Corby tell him what could happen as a result. When Craig says he wants to talk to Isaiah, Brock thinks it is dumb to talk to a guy who has screwed him over a dozen times.

Isaiah calls Craig moments later to say he is going to give him the dongle. He asks Craig to meet him so he can tell him everything in person. Isaiah claims Craig is getting the farm back and Jillian will be okay. Brock begins planning what he wants to do once they have the farm. Craig reminds him that they only talked and never agreed that he’d be a part owner. He wants to leave them so he can catch up with his brother, but Brock asks him to think about Corby. He explains that Corby will have to drop out because he blew through the college fund. Brock pleads with Craig to think about his kid. Craig tells Croby that his dad did this to him. Brock curses him as he drives away.

Once Craig meets Isaiah, he is told that he had to give the dongle to Rodney because he got a more appealing offer. Craig calls him evil, but Isaiah reminds him he cut a deal with a bunch of swamp criminals. Isaiah says he at least knows he is a bad person. Craig gets mad and leaves. Jillian (Claudia O’Doherty) tries to find a way to escape. Jackie Boone (Dot-Marie Jones) interrupts and sends the bird away. Jillian tells her that Ray-Nathan and Natalie-Ray left in a hurry because they got a call about Kathay-Ann who was poking around in their taxes and got them shut down. Jackie complains she has to go to the hospital and she doesn’t know who’ll get her there or who’ll watch Jillian.

She suggests taking Jillian’s Kia since it has about an eighth of a tank. As they drive, Jackie tells Jillian that she has eight days until her insurance runs out. Jillian learns she is having anesthesia. Jackie will make sure she can’t escape by leaving her zip-tied in the hospital garage. Once she does that, Jackie has to come back because she needs someone to be physically present when she signs in. Jillian is coming up to the surgery suite. Jackie warns her that she’ll track down her family and hurt her if she tries anything. Jillian confesses she doesn’t have a family. Jackie threatens to hurt her and Craig since she believes they’re a sexually romantic couple.

As they enter the hospital, Jackie informs her that she needs to pretend she is her daughter. Meanwhile, Brock steals more needles from the hospital. Dr. Bernard approaches Jackie who explains she has had blood in her stool. Jackie says the blood is black. She ends up lashing out at the doctor before quickly apologizing and blaming low blood sugar. Before Jillian leaves her, Jackie makes sure to scare her so she won’t try to escape. Jillian decides to wait for a while before fleeing the hospital. Dr. Bernard approaches her outside to say Jackie will want to schedule additional imaging right away because the results were concerning.

Jillian ends up rushing back to Jackie who woke up moments prior. She tells Jackie that the news isn’t great. Once they leave, Jillian suggests stopping at a Lil’ Piggies for something to eat. Jackie admits she isn’t surprised because she has been bleeding from the backside for three years. She was scared to go to the doctor. Jackie explains why she didn’t want her kids to come with her. She talks about how she isn’t going to leave her kids a fortune. Jillian says she didn’t hate her dad when he left her with nothing. She only hated that she never got to say goodbye before he was gone.

Jillian thinks her kids will want to know what is going on. When they go back, Jackie tells Ray-Nathan (Joe Massingill) and Natalie-Ray (Katie Kershaw) that they will not hurt Jillian. While Jackie tries to tell Natalie-Ray about the test, Ray-Nathan knocks her out from behind. Isaiah tells Maya (Fatimah Taliah) about his job and end-of-the year bonuses. He hopes she’ll give him another chance. She gives him half an hour to explain who he really is. Maya is surprised by everything she hears. Isaiah knows it is a lot, but he asks for a chance to show he can change for her. Maya agrees to give him two months.

Isaiah goes to the FBI to talk to them about Rodney. He speaks to a nice agent, but she leaves and Agent Burton (Timothy Simons) enters. Isaiah says he can prove Rodney Lamonca committed a murder. Burton says they don’t care about murders because they focus on real crimes. They believe Rodney is in possession of some sensitive documents so they need Isaiah to go undercover for them. Isaiah says Rodney wants him dead. He doubts he’ll be able to convince him to rehire him. Isaiah goes to Rodney who complains he has caused him a lot of trouble with his wife Katrina. When Rodney pulls a gun on Isaiah, Agent Burton refuses to send help.

He wants to see where it goes instead. Isaiah begins telling Rodney about the saw palmetto berries. Then, Isaiah meets Agent Burton discreetly three weeks later. Burton will only tell him that he is looking for Rodney’s secret second phone. Once Isaiah goes back to Rodney, he pitches the shark fight in hopes of getting an opportunity to take the phone. They discuss the possibility of using a stunt double. After the shark incident, Isaiah calls Burton to tell him about the dongle. He asks if he can get the dongle back when they’re done with it so he can give it to his brother. Agent Burton agrees even though he calls it random.

Isaiah gets the dongle from the hospital before meeting Burton at the restaurant again. When the agent scans the files, she doesn’t find what they’re looking for. Burton tells Isaiah that he is working on the order of someone in the executive branch. That person believes Rodney has a compromising photo of a sitting senator from Texas. Isaiah believes it is a picture of Ted Cruz’s penis. Agent Burton tells him to give back the dongle to prove his loyalty and become Rodney’s close personal advisor. Then, he might share the photo with him. Isaiah isn’t sure he can do that since Craig is coming right now.

Agent Burton is going to sit there and watch him screw his brother. He isn’t giving Isaiah back the dongle. Isaiah tells Craig that he isn’t giving him the dongle before leaving. He joins Craig in the car and tells him he is working for the FBI, but they tried to screw him over. He gives Craig the dongle. Isaiah hopes what they did in the restaurant will give him a head start. He’ll likely have to go back on the run or to prison. Isaiah admits he did it for Maya and not Craig. He tells Craig to get the dongle to Prada and go save Jillian. Later, Craig goes to the Boones to tell them he can hire them back.

He finds no one and a pool of blood on the ground so he suspects the worst.

Killing It Review

The second season of Killing It has somewhat gone off the rails as the finale approaches. In this episode, the comedy was dropped a little and the scenes tried to be serious. The twist that Isaiah has been working with the FBI is interesting enough. The episode ended on a good note that should set up an exciting finale.

The jokes don’t always hit their target, but Killing It is an easy-to-digest time killer that can be binged quickly. While this episode wasn’t all that funny, it did a lot in terms of revealing key details and setting up the final episode of the season. It scores a 5.5 out of 10.
