Predatory – As this episode of Killing It begins, Jackie Boone (Dot-Marie Jones) talks about alligators and how they kill. She tells Lorraine (Bayne Gibby) that is exactly what she is doing to them. Jackie is complaining to Lorraine about her insurance over the phone. Lorraine says she has 10 days of coverage left. Jackie tried to book a cardiologist for Ray-Nathan Boone (Joe Massingill), but they don’t have an opening for six months. She tells Lorraine she hopes she dies before the conversation ends. Natalie-Ray Boone (Katie Kershaw) makes Jillian (Claudia O’Doherty) record a video for Craig asking him to do exactly what the Boones say.
Ray-Nathan gets tired of it and suggests they make her really scared for the video. He threatens to cut off one of her fingers causing her to record a better video for them. The Boones show the video to Craig (Craig Robinson). He questions why they’d kidnap Jillian when he is the only one who cares about her. They want their fake jobs back and they want them in the next ten days. Ray-Nathan tells him not to call the cops because the Port Everglades sheriff’s station is run by Tyler Boone. Rodney Lamonca (Tim Heidecker) asks Craig about the sign because he wants it to be jacked for the influencer event. Craig tells him about the Boones kidnapping Jillian.
He pleads with Rodney to rehire them. Prada tells Rodney not to rehire them. Isaiah (Rell Battle) interrupts to say the truck has arrived before revealing Rodney got a shark for tonight’s party. Craig won’t be at the party because his friend has been kidnapped. Rodney doesn’t want to hear his drama. Isaiah tries to convince Craig to come to the party. Rodney comes out complaining that they sent him a dud shark. Isaiah tells him that the drugs are for the transport and they’ll wear off soon. Rodney wants to shoot it up with EpiPens. Craig asks for help from Gabriel (Gabriel Fonseca) and Angel (Pedro Lopez).
He tells them that they have machetes because Jillian has been kidnapped by the creepy swamp family. They don’t want to hurt anyone or die for their boss. Craig contemplates calling 911 but ends up getting a call from Brandy from carWOW instead. The call ends before Prada comes down and joins Craig. Prada explains she is there to help Craig sell Jillian even though she doesn’t like her. She has the perfect plan and Craig doesn’t have any other options. Her father recently made five payments of $1,000,000 each to a woman named Sophia. Prada knows he is having an affair, but he has been spending company funds on her.
If they can get proof, the board will have to replace him. Prada tells Craig he is going to a party. Once he arrives at the party, he reminds Isaiah that he told him to come. Since Isaiah is suspicious, Prada explains Craig is there because he is still employed. Prada tells Craig to meet her at the buffet in 15 seconds. Once they meet there, they go over the plan. Rodney is supposed to make his big announcement when it gets dark. While Rodney is giving his speech, Craig will sneak into the downstairs bathroom and hide. When Rodney comes in to change, he’ll leave his regular phone and the secret burner phone he uses for illegal stuff.
Rodney will lock the door and give the key to Isaiah for safekeeping. Craig will use the dongle to copy Rodney’s phone. He will leave, lock the door, and give the dongle to Prada. Brock (Scott MacArthur) comes over and interrupts Craig before he can throw away the food he picked up. He tells Craig about his new life as an influencer and how people ask him about the video in which he gave Craig and Jillian 20k all the time. Brock suggests they can shoot a follow-up in which Craig gives the money back. Since Craig doesn’t have the money, he says they can shoot something else. Craig is in a rush to leave so he doesn’t miss Rodney’s speech.
Brock admits things aren’t good. He tells Craig how he rebranded himself as Socket Man until he got sued by Elton John’s label. Once Rodney starts speaking, Craig quickly excuses himself. As Craig hides, he gets a call from Jillian reminding him that the Boones want money. Isaiah speaks to Prada. Before long, Craig begins copying the information from Rodney’s phone. The influencers begin worrying about Rodney when the shark fight goes wrong. Craig hears screaming. He puts the phone in his pocket before being told the shark ate Rodney.
After Craig puts the phone in his pocket, Isaiah asks him what he was doing in there. Rodney approaches them and admits he wouldn’t get into the water with a shark. Isaiah says a stunt double got eaten and it was an idea they got from Pitbull. Rodney says he is going to fix this himself as usual. When he returns, he asks Prada, Craig, and Isaiah where his secret phone is. Rodney orders them to activate the Omega Protocols before explaining what they are. In private, Craig tells Prada why he pocketed the phone. Prada tells him to drop the phone in a houseplant and sneak the dongle out.
Craig isn’t sure how he’ll do that since they have metal detectors. He goes to Brock to ask for his help. Since Brock doesn’t want to help, Craig tells him that Jillian is in danger. Brock offers to help him in exchange for part ownership of his farm. After Craig agrees, Brock tries to sneak the dongle out in his socket. Even though Rodney makes him lift his eye patch, Brock gets past security. Outside, he tells Craig that he shoved it deeper in the socket when he took the patch off. Brock passes out because he might’ve shoved it in too deep. Later, Brock wakes up at the hospital with Corby (Wyatt Walter) by his side.
Brock thinks this is the end of his YouTube career because he is a farmer now. Craig reminds him he doesn’t have the farm until they get the dongle to Prada. The doctor says she gave it to Brock’s old neurologist, but they haven’t heard of Dr. Todd. Instead, Isaiah leaves the hospital with the dongle.
Killing It Review
This episode of Killing It was okay with the humor being hit and miss, but the story was pushed forward a great deal. The return of Brock was good considering the character can be genuinely funny at times. Truthfully, the story is often idiotic although that isn’t really a bad thing. After all, Killing It isn’t a show anyone should be taking seriously.
Some viewers are going to find the humor funnier than others, but this episode had a few solid one-liners that hit the spot. Overall, this was a decent episode that did just enough to build interest in the final two of the season. It scores a 6 out of 10. Recaps of Killing It can be found on Reel Mockery here.
