chacrow silas jamestown

As the finale begins, Jocelyn (Naomi Battrick) speaks with George (Jason Flemyng) about Massinger’s land. She manages to use Farlow’s information to convince George to give her that property. Christopher (Ben Starr) speaks with James Read (Matt Stokoe) about Silas (Stuart Martin) potentially being a traitor. Read denies it. Read encourages Christopher to mind his own business. Redwick (Steven Waddington) lets everyone know that Jocelyn will take over Massinger’s land. Meredith (Dean Lennox Kelly) pokes fun at him. Meredith is put in a punishment device. George speaks with Redwick and Farlow (Burn Gorman). They try to figure out who could’ve given Jocelyn that information. George also insists that he needs to cut Jocelyn down.

Christopher speaks with Jocelyn. He agrees to leave her alone and not propose. Alice (Sophie Rundle) speaks with Read. She lies and pretends that the deal with the Pamunkey Indians has ended. Maria (Abiola Ogunbiyi) listens as George concocts a plan to set up the Pamunkey and take more of their land. Mercy (Patsy Ferran) and Jocelyn visit their new land. The workers there aren’t happy to be ruled by a woman. Christopher pays Read to make two swords. That night, Redwick gets drunk at the pub. He eventually passes out. Meredith and Verity (Niamh Walsh) pee in his crotch area as a prank. Then, they make fun of Redwick in the morning. Redwick comes up with a plan. He suggests burning Jocelyn’s fields and blaming it on the Pamunkey. George loves the plan.

Maria tells Alice that George is trying to set up the Pamunkey. Alice gets into an argument with Henry (Max Beesley). She encourages him to move to his own land. He does and he takes Winganuske (Rachel Colwell) with him. Jocelyn speaks with Read and asks him to help her at the farm. He refuses. Alice speaks with Chacrow (Kalani Queypo). She tells him that George is up to something. Henry asks his wife how much she loves him. She promises to be a good wife to him. Christopher returns for the swords. He challenges Read to a fight. Read is given little choice, but to accept. Redwick tells Farlow about his plan to set up the Pamunkey. Meredith and Verity blackmail Redwick into letting them trade with the mariners.

Silas apologizes to Alice for making her live so close to Henry. He explains that Henry understands and promised to leave them be. Alice tells Silas about speaking with Chacrow. The workers refuse to work for Jocelyn. She arm wrestles one of the men several times. Then, she comes up with a different plan to win them over. She offers them a year off of their sentence. They return to work immediately. Pedro (Abubakar Salim) speaks with Temperance (Claire Cox). He realizes that George has no intention of setting him free. Jocelyn visits Christopher and learns about his duel. Christopher is no match for James Read. Read refuses to strike him. He tells Christopher that he is the only man in Jamestown with any honor. That finally convinces Christopher to stop. Jocelyn’s farm is burned to the ground. In the morning, George and his comrades make it appear that the Pamunkey were involved.

Christopher tells George about Silas. Silas and his brothers return to the farm. They get into a shootout with Redwick. Alice fires a shot and convinces Redwick that they’re surrounded. This causes Redwick and his men to retreat. Silas eventually makes a run for it and blame to ask the Pamunkey to take him in. Henry gets shot in the arm. He tells Alice that he isn’t ready to die just yet. The Indian chief agrees to take in Silas. He wants George to come ask about Silas. Henry is captured. He tries to prove his worth to George by agreeing to speak with the Indians and try to get Silas to return. He tells Alice that he will take her there and let her decide which life she prefers. George speaks with Pedro. Pedro remains obedient, but it is clear that he is just biding his time.

Alice and Henry arrive at the Indian camp. Silas refuses to let Alice stay. He explains that their destiny is written in the stars. Alice insists she will defy the stars. George gathers his men and prepares to strike back at the Pamunkey. Redwick is thrilled. Jocelyn finds a worm in her soil. Mercy explains that God is telling them that the fire didn’t kill all life.

Jamestown Review

The finale of Jamestown was excellent. However, I felt that it was a little too easy for George Yeardley. Is he ever going to get what he deserves? Maria told Alice that George intended to set up the naturals. Nevertheless, nobody seemed to be able to put two and two together. Jocelyn took over Massinger’s land, but it wasn’t meant to be. Will she find out that George was responsible for the fire? How will she retaliate? The finale did a great job of justifying another season. I can’t wait for it.

The finale scores a good 8 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Jamestown right now!

  1. I’m enjoying binge watching Jamestown during CVID. How could they end season 2 with Yeardley organizing a war party to attack the Pamunkey, with no resolution? Episode 1 of season 3 seems to completely forget about potential consequential action by Yeardley.

    1. Bad move for sure. I really hate when they end an episode or season on a big cliff-hanger like this and never address it later. Decent series otherwise and those who followed along with the TV schedule likely didn’t even notice it because of the long gaps between seasons.
