At the start of the episode, Pedro finds a bangle of sorts down by the pier. George Yeardley (Jason Flemyng) visits Christopher (Ben Starr). He chokes the doctor and tells him to keep his will secret from everyone else. Pedro (Abubakar Salim) takes the jewelry to James Read (Matt Stokoe). He learns that it is capable of telling the time. However, it is broken. Pedro suspects that it may belong to Crabtree. Mercy (Patsy Ferran) is forced to tend to Meredith Rutter (Dean Lennox Kelly). He has been tied to a table in the pub. Verity (Niamh Walsh) refuses to check in on him. Jocelyn (Naomi Battrick) watches as Pedro tries to return the watch to Crabtree. Pedro is told to keep it.

Jocelyn asks Crabtree why he hasn’t used his status to get back at the governor. After all, he is an officer of the king. Chacrow (Kalani Queypo) speaks with Opechancanough (Raoul Max Trujillo). The chief is not happy that Silas (Stuart Martin) is still alive. Chacrow seems to believe in the English God now. He claims that a miracle came from the sky and stopped him from killing Silas. Verity speaks with James about her husband’s cowardice. Pedro arrives with the watch. James doesn’t understand why Pedro would like to keep track of the time. Nevertheless, he agrees to repair it anyway. Chacrow speaks with Temperance (Claire Cox) about the Pamunkey prophecy. The chief believes that the English will come and destroy their bloodline.

Jocelyn tries to convince James Read to help find the crew of the slave ship. She is unable to shame him into acting. Pedro spends time with Maria (Abiola Ogunbiyi). Maria suggests accepting things as they are. That might bring them peace. Verity and Christopher arrive moments later. Christopher tells Maria and Pedro about the governor trying to gift them to his children. They attempt to find a way to overcome this problem. Next, Temperance apologizes to Maria. She claims she didn’t know what was in the will. Temperance doesn’t want Maria to use her ancestors to haunt her husband. Chacrow confronts Winganuske (Rachel Colwell). He ridicules her for telling Henry (Max Beesley) about the chief’s name change.

Henry interrupts a short time later. Silas encourages Chacrow to come with him. Pedro comes up with a plan. He believes he can convince the governor to change his mind. Redwick (Steven Waddington) causes trouble for Crabtree. He decides to lock him in the jail cell. Pedro speaks with George. He shows him his belongings. He tells the governor that he wants to write a will and give everything to Maria. He tries playing on George’s emotions. Henry sends Pepper (Luke Roskell) to the Pamunkey. He wants him to find out why Chacrow is actually in Jamestown. James takes the watch back to Pedro and shows him how it works. George confronts Pedro later. He tells him why he wanted to give him to his kids. He loves him and wants his kids to have someone like Pedro around.

Mercy speaks with Verity about sleeping with Pepper. Verity tells her to make sure she does it properly so she can have a babe. Pepper returns with the body of Bundy Wallace. George believes it is an act of war. He visits the Pamunkey with Silas. Pedro becomes upset with the watch. It reminds him too much of his future in captivity. The Pamunkey chief blames the murder on another tribe. George uses Chacrow’s prophecy to scare the Pamunkey. Jocelyn visits Crabtree. He explains that he is right where he needs to be. Pedro arrives and returns the watch. He learns about the mariners and that James knew all along. Crabtree gives the watch to Jocelyn. Pedro attacks James. Read promises that he kept the secret because he didn’t think the men could be found.

Pedro says that he just wants his freedom. Mercy and Jocelyn speak about the future. Jocelyn looks in the mirror and sees herself as an old woman. She gives the watch to Mercy. In return, she gives it to Meredith. The Pamunkey chief announces his name change. He tells his tribe that they will fight alongside the other tribes against the English. Marie begins manipulating George. She speaks to him in the middle of the night and leaves him shaken. James Read visits Meredith and learns that the mariners went to Gloaming Creek. He visits Crabtree and learns that someone has already gone after the men. We see Pedro and Jocelyn together on a boat. James and Verity follow after them. Marie tells George that her ancestors sent Pedro with Jocelyn. Verity hopes to find Tamlin.

 

Jamestown Review

I really liked this episode of Jamestown. It was great from start to finish. There are lots of things going on simultaneously. Still, the show doesn’t get cluttered at all. I can easily follow what is going on at all times. You don’t have to be a thinking man or woman to understand Jamestown. It is really that simple and I like that about it. Tensions are rising. I suspect something big is going to happen before the final episode of the season.
