At the start of the episode, we see that Silas has settled in with the Pamunkey. James Read (Matt Stokoe) pays them a visit. Meanwhile, Alice (Sophie Rundle) works on the family farm. James visits. He tells Alice and Henry (Max Beesley) that Silas wants to meet with Henry. Alice wants to go along. Down by the pier, Jocelyn (Naomi Battrick) greets Christopher (Ben Starr) when he arrives. He gives her something she has been waiting for. Sir Yeardley (Jason Flemyng) arrives with his wife. He inquires about Master Crabtree. Christopher seems to think the man is okay, but suffers from a bent back.

Alice visits Verity (Niamh Walsh) and Meredith (Dean Lennox Kelly). Jocelyn tells Alice that she will find a reason for Henry to take her along. Jocelyn meets with the men. She shows them blueprints for a windmill. Yeardley belittles her and the men leave her all alone. Maria (Abiola Ogunbiyi) has a nightmare. She sees Yeardley with an axe in one hand and a head in the other. She goes outside and finds a key on the ground. In the morning, Temperance (Claire Cox) visits. Maria tells her about it. She encourages Temperance to take the key, which belongs to the Yeardley house in Jamestown. Sir Yeardley interrupts their conversation.

Silas hangs out with Chacrow (Kalani Queypo). Next, Sir Yeardley tells Henry to send a threatening message to his brother. Pepper (Luke Roskell) and Mercy (Patsy Ferran) have strengthened their relationship. Mercy tells Jocelyn that they have never discussed marriage. Alice speaks to Temperance. She believes she can convince Silas to return and become a Christian. Temperance tries the key. Nicholas Farlow (Burn Gorman) and Jocelyn speak in private. Jocelyn has a plan. Temperance returns to Maria. She wants to know whose head Maria saw. She doesn’t have an answer. Temperance encourages her husband to speak with Alice.

Crabtree tries to convince Farlow to help him set up a trading post on the settlement. Farlow attacks Mercy while she hugs Pepper (Luke Roskell). Pepper is very angry, but does nothing. Alice speaks with the governor. He agrees to let Silas live. However, he will need to punish him. Alice tags along when Henry and the others visit the Pamunkey. Farlow and Jocelyn get into an argument in public. She makes him look bad by ignoring his commands. Redwick (Steven Waddington) goes after Silas and the Pamunkey. Silas makes himself seen to Alice. Before they can have a conversation, Redwick interrupts. They fire at one another. Silas hits in him the side of the face with an arrow. Silas is untouched.

Redwick tells Yeardley what happened. Christopher tends to his wound. Temperance promises to Alice that she didn’t know about the trap. Alice says that Temperance has defeated her. Jocelyn learns about Mercy’s wound. She speaks with Farlow about it. Farlow admits he is tired of being himself. He wants to stop betraying the governor. Yeardley sees them together. Pepper tells Henry that he wants to kill Farlow. Henry gives him advice, but doesn’t try to stop him. Silas goes after him. Jocelyn interrupts. Nicholas and Jocelyn are scheduled to meet with Yeardley. Mercy tries to convince Pepper to leave Farlow along. She would rather have him alive.

George tries to get the truth from Nicholas and Jocelyn. Eventually, Nicholas cracks. He admits that they’ve been plotting behind George’s back. However, he blames everything on Jocelyn. Nicholas tells George what everyone thinks of him. George chops his head off with an axe. Maria’s dream comes true. He holds up Farlow’s head in the streets. Jocelyn is stunned. Alice speaks with Henry before deciding to leave Jamestown. She tells Verity and Jocelyn a short time later. Silas is notified. However, he cannot make it in time.

 

Jamestown Review

I am little split here. I liked the previous two seasons. However, this episode felt a little off to me. Most of the characters got big makeovers. Christopher and Silas look more hunky than ever. Temperance looks younger and Maria was showing off some cleavage here and there. It just felt odd compared to the past seasons. I have a feeling that Burn Gorman wanted out. How about Sophie Rundle? Will she return for future episodes?

I hope the show isn’t going to screw the pooch. We’ll see. The episode was okay. It scores a 6.5 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Jamestown now!
