The episode begins with Lowell’s body being examined at the morgue. Clive speaks to Ravi (Rahul Kohli) about Major’s (Robert Buckely) strange behavior. Lieutenant Suzuki (Hiro Kanagawa) interrupts Liv’s interrogation and allows her to leave. Ravi returns home and speaks to Major about the gun. Dr. Ravi begins to tell Major something important, before we witness Liv’s nightmare. She heads to the morgue and insists it is time to eat, so she can forget about the murder.
Liv tells Ravi about Blaine DeBeers (David Anders) and his actions, which resulted in Lowell’s death. They speak about the corpse of Rebecca Hinton (Sunita Prasad), who was a journalist. Hinton supposedly caught someone robbing her apartment, before she was killed. Liv is informed about Rebecca’s need for alcohol and admits Hinton worked with Major. Meanwhile, Clive pays a visit to the gym to speak with Julien (Aleks Paunovic). Julien lies and insists Major is a stalker.
Ravi speaks to Liv about Lowell’s method of death and insists they should label it as a suicide. Liv contemplates the decision, before insisting she needs a drink. She witnesses Clive standing over the table and has a flashback. She tells Clive the attacker was after something on Rebecca’s phone. They speak with Rebecca’s editor. He provides them with a notebook from Rebecca. They speak about Jason Fry (Vaughn Jones), before the editor sends them to Ryan Fisher (Max Lloyd-Jones), who knew Fry.
They track him down and Ryan tells them about Jason. He insists Jason spiraled, when he lost to other debate club members. Connie Roy (Andrea Brooks) enters the picture and Liv has a flashback. They finish their conversation with Ryan and separate outside. Clive Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin) visits Major and tells him about Julien. He suggests Major might have a problem and considers putting him in a psych facility. Next, Liv gets drunk and harasses Connie down the street.
Connie admits to knowing Rebecca, but doesn’t seem thrilled about it, before she rushes off. Ravi discovers Major packing his belongings. He confirms he has found a mental hospital, which will take him. Connie visits Liv at the morgue and demands immunity. She tells Liv and Clive about helping to set up Jason. She insists Jason went crazy a few days after the event. Liv and Clive pay Jason a visit and tell him that he isn’t a killer. He tells them about his meeting with Rebecca. A picture on the way potentially leads to a discovery in Rebecca’s notebook.
At the morgue, Dr. Ravi insists they need to tell Major about the zombies. Liv disagrees and suggests he’ll be safe in the hospital. She hits up a bar and drinks forever, before Major comes and picks her up. He takes her home and puts her in bed. In the morning, she returns to the morgue to find Ravi feeding his zombie rat. Clive enters and informs the pair that Rebecca’s notes refer to places and not people. He finds a link to Max Rager. She tells them about the boat party, where she was transformed and insists it had something to do with the energy drink.
Liv heads to Max Rager’s headquarters and speaks to Vaughan (Steven Weber). Liv questions him about Max Rager making people go crazy. He denies everything, before Liv is forced out. Back at the morgue, Clive ridicules Liv for being drunk. They argue, before Ravi and Clive toss her off of the case. She returns to the bar and drinks, before Sebastian Meyer (Matthew MacCaull) approaches and introduces himself, as Rebecca’s source. Liv learns about Vaughan’s crazy behavior. He insists there is a second source, which can bring down Max Rager.
Liv heads to an exercise class and speaks to Adele (Stephanie Van Dyck). She attempts to convince her to meet with the police and eventually does. Liv waits for her to change, but discovers that she’s climbed out of the window. In the parking lot, Liv is attacked by Sebastian. She wakes up in a boat, which is out on the water. Sebastian finds the flash drive, which contains the memo that could bring down Max Rager, before throwing Adele into the water. Liv discovers she is chained to a cinderblock. After a short chat, she transforms and attacks Sebastian knocking him into the water.
It appears that the boat kills Sebastian. Liv returns to the morgue and tells Ravi to sign the document to confirm Lowell’s death as a suicide. She tells Ravi about the entire story and the attempt on Blaine’s life. At the hospital, Major tells the other patients about his story. After his speech, Scott E (Bryce Hodgson) approaches and tells Major he knows what he is dealing with. Scott tells him that the ones with the red eyes are zombies. Meanwhile, Liv cries over Lowell’s body, before Ravi comforts her. Liv insists she is going to find Blaine and kill him this time. Sebastian’s body washes ashore and his eyes turn red.
Review
With Lowell out of the picture and Blaine as the main antagonist, you’d think the show would continue down the same route. However, this episode built the villain database with an entire corporation, Max Rager. Although the mystery around Rebecca Hinton’s murder was someone dull, the rest of the episode made it worthwhile. A 7 out of 10 is deserved.
