Heartbreak High Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

The Sheriff – The episode begins with Amerie Wadia (Ayesha Madon) being interviewed by DOCS representatives about her relationship with Jojo Obah (Chika Ikogwe).

Jojo asks Woodsy (Rachel House) why her classroom is blocked off with police tape. Woodsy says the classroom is a “crime scene” because it’s where she allegedly had sex with Amerie. Amerie scoffs before asking if she’s joking. Woodsy informs her that DOCS received an alert from an anonymous caller. Jojo points out that the anonymous call put her career at risk. Woodsy reminds her that the allegations must be investigated. Amerie assures the DOCS representative that it’s a waste of time as someone is messing with her. As she starts to walk away, the representative assures her that Obah will be cleared if she’s telling the truth. Woodsy warns Jojo that her laptop and file cabinet are being confiscated as evidence.

Jojo tells Woodsy her password, “PimpMama-underscore-666.” Woodsy orders her to take time off while the DOCS complete the investigation.

Ca$h (Will McDonald) asks Spider (Bryn Chapman Parish) what he thinks about the allegations. Spider tells him that it’s understandable since Jojo is a “clit banger.” Darren Rivers (James Majoos) assures them it’s “bullsh**.” Sasha So (Gemma Chua-Tran) asks why would the caller want to remain anonymous. Missy Beckett (Sherry-Lee Watson) says it would be a “messed up thing to do” if the allegations were made up. Spider sarcastically congratulates Harper McLean (Asher Yasbincek).

Quinni Gallagher-Jones (Chloe Hayden) flees when Sasha calls her name. Darren tells her that Quinni refuses to talk. Sasha asks if she’s not speaking to her. After describing her as “nonverbal,” Darren suggests giving her space.

While stuffing food in her mouth, Amerie says Jojo didn’t deserve it. After saying neither of them did, Darren admits to being surprised Harper took it that far. She refers to her as being “lower than a snake’s a**hole.” Darren tells her about the rumors floating around Hartley High. She asks what Malakai Mitchell (Thomas Weatherall) thinks about it. Darren informs her that Malakai wasn’t at school.

Malakai and Jai (Kobie Dee) go for a hike.

Ca$h picks up an order for delivery without speaking to Darren.

Rivers (Scott Major) asks Darren what is going on. Darren assures him that nothing needs to be wrong for them to hang out. Rivers disagrees before a frustrated Darren leaves.

Ca$h shows surprise when Jojo answers the door. She informs him that her name is on the temporary sex offender list. He says well it isn’t the permanent list.

Spider asks Amerie if she should be at therapy instead of school. Dusty Reid (Josh Heuston) tells him to leave her alone. Spider sarcastically asks if he suddenly has a “hard-on” for her. Dusty assures it Jojo didn’t have sex with Amerie before demanding he shut up.

Amerie shoves Harper while asking why she said they slept together. She asks if she decided to destroy Jojo’s life after tiring of destroying hers. Harper asks if she’d believe her if she denied it. Amerie calls her a “fu**ing liar.” Harper admits to doing it before walking away.

Darren teases Harper as she empties her locker. Amerie questions why Harper would openly admit to it. Darren reminds her that she’ll never see Harper’s “stupid face” again. Dusty asks Amerie if she wants to skip their next class.

Amerie admits to wanting attention, just not at this level. Dusty tells her that it was nice just the two of them being together. She says he’s different than she initially thought. He asks if that is good or bad. She assumes he’ll figure it out.

Justin (Ben Oxenbould) reminds Harper that she claimed to be making an effort at school. She claims to have tried. He tells her that he only gets up in the morning because of her. She suggests they not talk about it.

Woodsy assures Jojo that she’ll be back at work no later than Thursday after the risk assessment is complete. Jojo asks why she doesn’t defend her. Woodsy reminds her that as the principal, she must be impartial. Jojo assumes she has an opinion. After dismissing the allegations, Woodsy warns her that the students don’t like them, which is to be expected.

Woodsy asks where’s Malakai. Ant Vaughn (Brodie Townsend) tells her that he’s abroad. A student asks why Jojo isn’t teaching the class. Woodsy informs them that she’ll be teaching Sexual Literacy Tutorial “SLT” course. When asked why they were chosen for SLT, Sasha says the Incest Map. Woodsy suggests the students learned the minimum under Jojo. The students scoff at photos of vaginal and penile yeast infections. Woodsy explains that it’s caused by poor hygiene and unprotected sex.

Amerie catches up with Jojo to apologize for the allegations. Jojo says her feud with Haper has ruined her career. Amerie tells her that the truth is out there before suggesting she come back. Jojo informs her that she resigned. Darren asks why she would resign when her name was cleared. When Amerie says they love her, Jojo reminds them of how they never wanted to be part of SLT. Amerie and Darren claim she taught them heaps.

Amerie tells Woodsy that she can’t accept Jojo’s resignation. Woodsy suggests Jojo wasn’t a teacher because when things got tough, she got out.

Sasha leads a protest to get Frackingham out. Amerie suggests they protest to show Jojo how much she means to them. Sasha suggests picking a location and telling everyone.

Spider tells Amerie that he’ll not join the protest. She suggests it would piss Woodsy off. Darren asks Ca$h if he’d like to take part in a protest for Amerie. He tells him that he’ll do it. Missy says she’s in. Sasha suggests they create engaging slogans, banners, and posters. The students create posters and banners in support of Jojo.  Amerie tells Malakai to go buy supplies for the protest. Sasha recommends everyone work on their mug shot pose. Amerie asks if the police will come to the protest. Sasha warns she’ll fail if they don’t show up.

Amerie and Missy walk out of class while Mr. Crabb (Paul Caesar) teaches trigonometry. Woodsy is talking to Maureen (Miranda Daughtry) when Darren alerts them of a man exposing himself outside the school. When Darren claims to have seen the man’s penis, Maureen says, “Oh, really.” Darren describes the penis as “huge” before Woodsy and Maureen head outside. After they leave, Darren immediately stops pretending to cry.

Amerie orders the students to lock the windows and doors. Woodsy questions where the penis is when Maureen points at the school as the students shock the doors. Amerie utilizes the intercom system to inform Woodsy that the Administration Building has been taken over by SLTs. She demands Jojo withdraw her resignation as the students show off their booties, penis balloons, and chests.”  Darren assures Woody that the protest is for a good cause. The students chant “sl**s.”

Darren asks what they should do next. Amerie says they hang out until Woodsy meets their demands.

Maureen asks if they should get Jojo involved. Woodsy tells her that she’ll not do it. A parent suggests calling the police. Imran (Johnny Nasser) warns that it could result in a criminal record for their kids. Rivers reminds him that it’s trespassing. Imran throws Quinni a kiss. Jim The Maintenance Man (Justin Smith) suggests a ripe dead possum would get the students out quickly. Woodsy asks if there is option B. He informs her of the broken water pipes.

Missy gives the students a planter to urinate in.

Huma (Sandy Sharma) asks what’s happening. Woodsy suggests asking the organizer, Amerie. Huma demands she come outside immediately. Mrs. Vaughn ((Natascha Borg) threatens to drag Ant out of the Administration Building while Rivers cracks up.

Amerie says anyone who wants to leave should do it now. As Ant starts out the door, Spider holds him back.

Woodsy assures the students that the students will get bored and the protest will end.

Harper tells Justin that he doesn’t need to go to the pub before handing him a beer. When he walks away, she checks his messages in which he promises to meet someone later.

Malakai and Jai camp out.

Woodsy pulls up Jojo on her contact list but changes her mind.

Amerie asks Dusty what will happen if Jojo never arrives. He says at least they got to hang out before assuring her it’ll be okay.

Sasha pleads with Quinni not to hate her. An antsy Quinni doesn’t respond.

Ca$h tells Darren that he’s only trying to get things figured out. Darren asks if he doesn’t want to have sex with anyone or him. Ca$h says, “Anyone.” Darren questions if he’s ever tried it. He suggests their feelings are different. Darren reminds him of their kiss. Ca$h asks if they can just be friends. Darren agrees before leaving.

Justin goes out with a buddy. Quinni writes Darren a note asking if she’s too much. He acknowledges she’s his too much before kissing her forehead.

Amerie is alone in a room when Spider asks if she’s all right. She has a flashback of him asking her the same thing at the concert. She tells him that she can’t find Harper. He assures her that it’ll be all right. They’re making out when she tells him to hurry up. While trying to get an erection, someone knocks on the door. She admits not wanting anyone to find out about what happened between them. He promises to tell no one. She tosses his clothes before ordering him to get out. Back to the present, she tells him that she’s good.

Harper grabs a knife before taking a seat in a chair.

A drunk Missy admits Sasha hurt her badly. Darren suggests she’s dehydrated. Amerie and Ant go for water when they encounter Jim. They spray him before fleeing to the groundskeeper’s room. He informs Woodsy that he has them trapped. After warning him that the parents are present, Woodsy orders him to get them out.

Amerie says everything was for nothing. Ant admits to reporting Jojo in hopes of getting SLT canceled. She asks if Spider was involved in it. He tells her that Spider added her name to the Incest Map. She asks if Spider hates her that much. He claims it was Dusty who came up with the idea. She confronts Dusty about Ant’s allegations. He just walks away.

Quinni alerts the students that Jojo has returned. Darren pleads with her to come back. Quinni says they only want to be her “sl**.” A group of firemen busts through the door. Quinni runs into Jojo’s arms.

Harper takes her knife into her bedroom when Justin returns home. He stumbles into her room asking if Wolf is in his house.

Dusty claims his plan was to get SLT thrown out, not hurt her. She accuses him of pretending to like her to humiliate her. He admits to making the play only to get back at Harper and tease Malakia. She asks what Harper did to him. He tells her that she gave him chlamydia. She says Harper was only trying to protect her from him.

When she arrives at Harper’s house, an ambulance is in the driveway. Harper is covered in blood when she emerges from the house. Harper says, “It happened again” as the episode comes to an end.

Heartbreak High Review

The episode before the finale was quite eventful. Hartley High students hold a protest to force Jojo back to teaching. After a night inside the Administration Building, the students get their way. In the meantime, Harper is left dealing with her father who apparently attacks her when drunk. The only difference this time is she’s armed with a knife.

Ant spills the beans about the DOCS report, which was all Dusty’s ideal. Dusty claims it was intended to get the SLT course shut down. It’s questionable why they disliked the class so much.

Ca$h tells Darren that their feelings are different. After suggesting they take it slow and try something different, Ca$h just wants to be friends.

Missy confesses Sash trampled on her heart, which is the first time we’re hearing this. Was it because Sasha chose Quinni instead of her?

Amerie confronted Dusty about Ant’s allegations. She asks if was pretending to like her. He never truly answered the question but admitted to staging the play to get even with Harper and rag Malakai.

We now know, Spider’s animosity toward Amerie had to do with the inability to perform. He was obviously drunk, but her harsh tone wouldn’t have helped matters. She told him to hurry and get it over with, which would be a major turnoff.

Although I enjoyed the series, it’s far from perfect. While the show broached troubling issues that teenagers face today, it failed to capitalize on the opportunity. It didn’t take a stand on anything important to today’s teens. The solution was to poke fun at it or ignore it all together. The implausibility stems from this being a show about teenagers. Switch to college students and I would believe it. The yeast photos were distasteful.

The episode deserves a 6. Get more Heartbreak High recaps here. Support Reel Mockery by clicking the link.

    1. I’ve tried to use just the name Darren. If there is a “he” in there, it was done out of haste. For each 1-hour episode, it often takes me 2 – 3 hours to recap these episodes. Hope you understand. Thanks and will take more caution from here on out.

      1. Yeah I understand but you had the time to say he though? Two more taps to add the t and y is what you can’t do?

        1. When you’re going through it word by word and writing it as you go, things happen. I am afraid to update each recap because I don’t remember exactly what happened and “he” could be anyone so changing it now with limited memory may lead to mistakes and throw everything out of wack. If you’d like to copy the recap, change the incorrect “he”s to “they”s and email it to me, I’d be happy to change it. Thanks.
