Angeline – The episode begins with Quinni Gallagher-Jones (Chloe Hayden) completing her daily schedule. She assures Frank (Sammy Hayes) and Imran (Johnny Nasser) that she’ll make it to the bookstore because it’s the “most life-defining moment of her entire life.” Sasha So (Gemma Chua-Tran) sends her a message that reads, “So, psyched to see you tonight.” She tells her dads goodbye before heading out their door.

Harper McLean (Asher Yasbincek) asks what’s the cost of having a bladder removed. After diagnosing her with chlamydia, the doctor (Jane Phegan) says she’ll need to contact her sexual partners within the past six months.

Malakai Mitchell (Thomas Weatherall) tosses his basketball jersey in the waste bin.

Woodsy (Rachel House) says Respectful Relationship Program students made an oath to heed the no-second chance policy regarding “disreputable behavior.” After reminding him of Harper’s bad behavior at the City of Sydney Interschool Basketball Semifinals, she admits to considering suspension. Harper warns that she can’t be suspended. Woodsy suggests she should’ve taken that into consideration before making a mockery of Hartley High School. Justin (Ben Oxenbould) says Harper has been going through when she cuts him off. Harper pleads for detention or trash duty, not suspension. When Woodsy agrees to detention, Jojo Obah (Chika Ikogwe) informs her that it’s currently full. Woodsy gives her afterschool library duty until the end of the semester.

Woodsy voices her disappointment in the impact of SLT. Jojo reminds her that the Incest Map was only two months before. Woodsy suggests she rethink her current approach. Jojo nods in agreement.

Harper asks Dusty Reid (Josh Heuston) if they can talk. He asks if she’s said enough. After saying she refuses to be pulled into a “negativity black hole,” Sasha describes her as an “emotional vampire.”

Quinni says half the students believe Harper’s an “untouchable icon.” Darren Rivers (James Majoos) suggests the remaining students believe she’s a “batshit banshee.” Amerie Wadia (Ayesha Madon) tells them that she’ll not waste one more brain cell thinking of her. When Darren suggests her heart is shattered into pieces, Malakai captures her attention.

Darren complains that Ca$h (Will McDonald) treats him like “foot fungus.” Quinni suggests Ca$h isn’t into sex as much as him. After clarifying Huma (Sandy Sharma) will be working nightshift, he invites all lonely hearts to Amerie’s house for a BYOB party. Amerie warns everyone that it’s a lie. He suggests this could be her big comeback. She tells Sasha that something will go down at her place tonight. He announces the party as Amerie’s “Back From the Dead.” Sasha says seeing how far Amerie’s evolved is really cool. Quinni informs Sasha that she’s going to a book signing tonight. Darren adds that it’s the release of a novel, “Angeline of the Underworld.” Sasha recommends they attend both before they kiss.

Missy Beckett (Sherry-Lee Watson) asks Malakai if he’s all right. He claims to have watched the “Antique Roadshow” last night. Jojo points out that Dusty’s missing. Spider (Bryn Chapman Parish) informs her that Dusty will not be there. She explains the game, “Stuck in the Mud” before selecting Amerie to be “It.” Ant Vaughn (Brodie Townsend) tells her that their outfit isn’t suitable for sweating. She threatens to make them run after school if they refuse to do it now. When everyone takes off running, she says students wearing checked shirts, blue, and a watch. Spider complains it isn’t fair. Missy suggests the rules can’t be changed every 10 seconds. Jojo asks if it was fair for her to change the rules after every student agreed to play. Spider reminds her of the detention threat.

Jojo says to think back to when they experienced an unfair power balance. After warning that the “man-bashing” is coming, Spider accuses the school of targeting guys. She orders him to leave her class before apologizing to Harper. Amerie describes Spider as a “massive wanker.” Jojo suggests Harper isn’t doing so great. Amerie assures her that people will call you out when you’re a “bit**.” Jojo assumes she would know when someone was having a serious problem. Amerie has a flashback of suggesting they take something now. Harper tells her that she’s decided to just hang out. A disappointed Amerie reminds her that she wasted $100 before going for another drink. When she turns around, Harper is nowhere to be seen.

Ant asks the guys if they’re getting costumes for Amerie’s party. Spider describes costumes as “lame.” Dusty admits he’ll not go if Harper will be there. Spider says he’d pay $100 to see what “psycho tits” does next. Malakai says that was “fu**ed up.” Dusty assures him it was a joke. Malakai angrily leaves to take a seat beside Harper. She questions what he’s doing. He admits being tired of Dusty’s crap. She agrees with him.

Malakai asks Amerie if he can come to her party. She asks what’s his MO. He informs her that he has access to OG Twister. She tells him to drop by at 7pm.

Ca$h informs Darren that Nan (Maggie Dence) has been hospitalized after injuring her back.

Amerie tells Huma that she’s thankful her friends can come over.

Sasha tells Quinni that she’s considering a petition to get Spider suspended. Quinni says her plan is to prepare for the book signing early. Sasha suggests Missy would’ve dropped them off if she told her earlier. Quinni admits she doesn’t want to change her schedule this close.

Quinni tells Sasha about Angeline on the bus ride to the bookstore. Sasha suggests they go to Amerie’s afterward. Quinni tells her that it’s okay for her to go because she wants an early night. After asking her to stop for some gelatin, Sasha swears she’ll get there on time. Quinni reluctantly agrees.

Darren stops at Ca$h’s place to discuss their relationship. Ca$h accuses him of only thinking of himself when Chook (Tom Wilson) and Jayden (Ari McCarthy) walk in. Chook asks why Darren’s there. Ca$h says he’s a customer when Darren takes off.

Sasha and Quinni arrive at the Ciao Glebe! She tells Sasha that she doesn’t want to order. When Sasha starts to order, Julia (Jessica Rose Pearson) calls her name. Quinni receives a notification that the bookstore is getting busy.

On the bus, Quinni puts on her headphones to drown out the noise. Julia asks Sasha if she’s all right. Sasha assures her that she get stressed sometimes.

Harper practices telling her sex partners that she has chlamydia.

Ben (Ash Hodgkinson) greets Quinni in front of the bookstore. He asks Sasha what she thinks about Angeline. Sasha admits she hasn’t any interest in fantasy novels.

Darren says he and Ca$h are done. Darren asks her to make him a promise to not pine over Malakai. Dusty, Ant, and Spider arrive in costumes. Dusty asks Malakai if his new friend tagged along. Malakai tells him that he has no interest in starting anything. Dusty says he’s “full of sh**.”

While Quinni tunes in as Rhea Brown (Natalie Tran) reads from her novel, “Angeline of the Underworld,” Sasha texts. Quinni tells Rhea that she saved her life. Rhea promises to read her books because she will be great.

An intoxicated Amerie falls into Dusty’s arms. He apologizes for Malakai’s dishonesty. She assures him that she’ll always be there to listen if he wants to talk. He says it’s a shame he didn’t realize sooner she had a “heart of gold” when he sees Malakai watching them.

Jai (Kobie Dee) introduces himself to Malakai.

Amerie ignores Harper’s call before she and Dusty head to a quiet area.

Quinni tells Sasha that she wants to write a book. Sasha admits she’s not into the fangirl thing. Quinni assumes she wanted to share the experience with her. Sasha says she just wants to be a “normal teenager.” When Quinni asks if she’s not normal enough, Sasha demands she not “pull the fu**ing autism card” on her. She reminds Sasha that it’s her life before leaving.

Devastated, Quinni releases her frustration on herself inside her bedroom.

Dusty dances for Amerie before they kiss.

Harper asks Malakai where Amerie is at. He tells her that she’s “swapping spit with her new boyfriend.” After opening the bedroom door, she throws a cake at Dusty and Amerie. Dusty tries to leave but she says they seriously need to talk.

Amerie walks outside to find Malakai on the roof and the partygoers chanting, “jump, jump, jump.” They pull a trampoline over as he accuses her of ignoring him. She orders him to stop while Missy screams for Jai. As he nears the edge of the roof, Jai grabs him. He demands to be let go. Jai assures him that he has him.

Missy tells the partygoers that they are all “fu**ed in the head” while escorting Malakai out of the house. Spider asks Dusty if he wants to go to Ant’s place. He tells him that he’s going home. Ant tells him to not be a “pu**y.” He says, “Fu** off” before heading home.

Darren joins Quinni in her room. Jai assists Malakai to his car.

Harper hands Malaka a box of Lymecycline tablets before taking a seat on a bench. Dusty takes his antibiotics and leaves without speaking.

Woodsy informs Amerie that two officials need to ask her some questions.

Dusty and Quinni enter a room blocked off by police tape. Two tables turned upside down expose a new Incest Map when Jojo approaches.

An official tells Amerie they need to ask her some questions about Jojo Obah when the episode comes to an end.

 

Heartbreak High Review

Harper receives a chlamydia diagnosis, which she was required to share with her most recent sex partners. Her procrastination nearly put her former best friend’s health in jeopardy. She enters Amerie’s bedroom just in time to stop her and Dusty from having sex. Malakai is informed as the episode neared an end.

Amerie hosts a party at her house. Malakai’s oath to not drink didn’t last very long. As he stood on the roof of Huma’s house, the partygoers, excluding Missy, encouraged him to jump. If it weren’t for Jai, his injuries might have been serious or even fatal.

Darren still hasn’t got what he wanted from Ca$h. Instead, he hooked up with another guy at the party. Considering how the show has been building up Darren and Ca$h as a power couple, this doesn’t seem like a good move. I think some of you will agree, the move was distasteful. A bit of romance would’ve been nice, but no, just another raunchy sex scene.

The staff at Hartley High finally discovered the new Incest Map. The culprit alleged Jojo and Amerie had sexual intercourse. Officials are brought in to investigate the allegations. Don’t forget Spider’s outburst during STL.

Ca$h is getting a lot of pressure from Chook. It’s unclear how he feels about Darren but there do seem to be some feelings there.

Quinni and Sasha may have finally realized they share different interests. Quinni is into fangirl fantasy while Sasha has her social justice issues.
