As the 3rd episode begins, an old man runs over an alligator in his driveway. The alligator is cut open and an arm is found inside. Dr. Daniel Harrow (Ioan Gruffudd) calls Jack Twine (Tony Barry). Twine comes up with an excuse, so he doesn’t have to speak with Daniel. Daniel tracks down Fern’s (Ella Newton) phone. He finds it in the trash with a note on the back. When Daniel returns to work, he speaks with Simon (Remy Hii) and Soroya (Mirrah Foulkes). He learns that the DNA from the body didn’t match anyone. His Hovard plan worked. Daniel gets into an argument with Fairly (Darren Gilshenan) about their work. The team learns about the arm. Daniel checks it out and realizes that it smells like garlic. Daniel and Simon also notice a precise cut on the arm.
Daniel speaks with Maxine (Robyn Malcolm). He tells her that it appears the victim had a tattoo cut from his arm. Maxine forces Daniel to go to North Queensland with Soroya. Stephanie (Anna Lise Phillips) learns that the school will be laying off. She immediately suspects that she will the one let go. Jesse (Uli Latukefu) believes he will be the one to go. Step calls Daniel as he lands in North Queensland. He tells her about the phone and tells her that he’ll try to be home for Fern’s birthday. Daniel and Soroya soom meet Sgt. Gabriel Capello (Richard Brancatisano). He tells them about the case. He explains that the harbor has been locked down for the time being. Daniel and Soroya check out the crocodile. A tracking device is found and Daniel takes liquid from the intestines.
They speak with the guy in charge. He shows them the animal’s movements over the past few days. Then, they meet with Millicent Bruce (Lynette Curran). She takes them to the crocodile’s meat safe. Soroya eventually convinces Daniel to get into the water. After a little while, they manage to uncover the body. Steph gets in touch with Fern. She tells her about her plans for her birthday. Fern also gets her birth certificate. She doesn’t say why she wants it. She promises she isn’t going to marry Callan (Hunter Page-Lochard). Daniel and Soroya check out the victim’s body. Daniel uses a machine to confirm that the victim was poisoned. Then, they learn from Gabriel that there are three possible suspects. They speak with Alister (Peter Feeney) and Lena Penn (Emma Wright) first.
They also chat with a young boy. Then, they speak with Mr. Abalard (Kristof Kaczmarek). He brings them inside for a drink. Daniel is fascinated with the man’s boat. Soroya seems suspicious of the man, but Daniel doesn’t. Gabriel invites the couple to a birthday party. Soroya convinces Daniel to go by promising to wear something nice. We jump to the party. Daniel continues contemplating the murder. He wonders how the man was poisoned. Soroya dances with the locals, while Daniel speaks with Bruce. Bruce believes that Daniel is in love with Soroya. He denies it. Daniel prepares to leave, but Soroya stops him. He tells her about his daughter’s birthday. Eventually, Soroya gives Daniel a kiss. Fern stays in Daniel’s boat. She finds birthday cards he tried to write to her. Daniel returns to the body.
He calls Simon and tells him to visit his boat and look for a magazine about boats. Simon reveals that he found a medical plate on the river body. Daniel encourages him not to do anything about it, until he returns. Daniel watches at Abalard gets rid of dead rats. Simon runs into Fern. He tells her that Daniel misses her. Daniel gets the boat information. He suspects that Abalard killed the real owner and took the boat. They visit Abalard. He refuses to let them search his boat. Gabriel goes for a warrant. During this time, Abalard tries to flee. Soroya manages to stop him, but she gets wounded. Daniel and Gabriel check the boat. They find exotic reptiles inside. Gabriel explains that the man was smuggling reptiles out of Australia. Daniel visits Soroya at the hospital. Jack calls Daniel and tells him that Hovard has died. Daniel refuses to tell him what he is hiding.
Daniel finds Lena in the hospital. She has been poisoned. He visits the Alister and Lena’s boat. He finds poison residue inside, before being attacked by Alister. Alister transports Daniel out on a boat. He admits that Lena poisoned the boat’s real owner, so they could take it and sell it. Daniel manages to get out of his restraints and knock out Alister. He takes him back to land. Daniel and Soroya return home. Later that night, Daniel calls Stephanie. She invites him over, but changes her mind. In the morning, Daniel learns that Simon got the medical plate and it has a serial number on it.
Harrow Review
This episode of Harrow was just okay. It was mediocre, but managed to hold my interest. How will Daniel be able to stop Simon and Soroya from identifying the victim? So far, he has managed to outsmart them. There is a good chance that he’ll do the same this time around too. It was clear from early on that Soroya would be a love interest for Daniel. That happened in this episode, but Daniel didn’t act on it. It seems that he might still have feelings for his ex.
The episode was okay and scores a 7 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Harrow now. Sorry for any errors/mistakes above. Got busy and had to rush to recap the episode.
