As the episode begins, we see someone dumping a body into the water. After the intro, Dr. Daniel Harrow (Ioan Gruffudd) is shown watching a western. His boss Maxine Pavich (Robyn Malcolm) interrupts and tells him to get to work. Harrow refuses to perform an autopsy on a dead clown. He gives Maxine a quick rundown of how the man died while doing yoga. Later, Harrow tells Maxine that she should fire him. She threatens to stop his pay, if he doesn’t do his work. She also tells him to apologize to Dr. Fairly (Darren Gilshenan). Daniel does so. Then, Harrow gets a phone call and rushes to the hospital. He learns that his daughter, Fern (Ella Newton), took something. When he arrives, she is already gone. She watches her escape in a taxi.
He gets in touch with his ex Stephanie (Anna Lise Phillips). Stephanie hasn’t heard from Fern. That night, Daniel finds Bruce Reimers (Gary Sweet) in his boat. Bruce wants him to reopen the case into his daughter’s death. Bruce is adamant that Olivia (Arnijka Larcombe-Weate) didn’t kill herself. Daniel insists he could only change the system from the outside. Daniel finds some of his items missing. He manages to track down Fern at the nearest pawn shop. Daniel promises Fern that he’ll quit his job and take her to Bora Bora. In the morning, Daniel gives Maxine his resignation letter. Then, he runs into Fairly. Fairly is excited to get Daniel’s office. Simon (Remy Hii) waits for Daniel outside. He wants to know why he is leaving. He doesn’t believe that he can learn anything from Fairly. Daniel doesn’t give an answer, but he promises that Simon is smart and will be fine.
Then, Daniel begins preparing his boat. Fern watches from a distance. Daniel visits Bruce. Since he has quit his job, he agrees to help. Bruce explains that he believes Olivia was killed by her boyfriend Kurt Calanna (Luke Pegler). He also lets Daniel look at Olivia’s apartment, which he has been renting. Daniel checks out the crime scene. Bruce shows him that Olivia carved KU on the cabinet near the ground. He also insists that Olivia was off booze and drugs. Stephanie finds Fern at home. She learns about the planned Bora Bora trip. Fairly finds Harrow at work. He is performing an autopsy on Olivia’s body. Fairly admits that nothing was found under her nails. Simon enters. Fairly reminds him that he is still his assistant. Soon, Maxine finds out and ridicules Harrow. Olivia’s body is scheduled to be destroyed in three days, so Harrow has very little time. Maxine admits that Bruce has been a pest about reopening the case.
Eventually, Maxine caves and gives Harrow three days. With help from Simon, Harrow manages to log into Fairly’s account. He learns that Bryan Nichols (Damien Garvey) investigated Olivia’s case. Harrow tracks him down right away. He is also introduced to Soroya Dass (Mirrah Foulkes). Nichols isn’t willing to give up much information. However, Daniel seems to get along well with Dass. Daniel speaks with Kurt and his new girlfriend. Kurt maintains his innocence. He doesn’t say why he didn’t arrange to pick up the body. Later, Harrow continues investigating the case. He learns from Fairly that there was a suicide note. He checks it out and it blames Bruce. Daniel immediately believes that Bruce might have sexually abused his daughter. He speaks with Bruce, who admits that Olivia was on antidepressants because of him.
Daniel is no longer willing to help Bruce. Stephanie tracks down Daniel. She tells him that he better not mess up the Bora Bora trip. The following day, Daniel learns that Kurt has arranged to take the body. This makes him suspicious. He heads to the police station and speaks with Nichols. He learns that Kurt’s alibi was his mother. Daniel speaks with a neighbor. Then, he speaks with Kurt’s mother. He is convinced that Kurt wasn’t home when Olivia died. Daniel revisits the crime scene. He finds a cellphone hidden in a vent. It shows paperwork. Kurt sold his worthless properties to Olivia to unload his debts. They believe that Kurt must have killed Olivia after she found the paperwork. Bruce finally explains why he was responsible for Olivia being on antidepressants. He worked all the time when she was little and didn’t spend much time with her.
Harrow inspects the body again. He calls Fern and speaks with her briefly. Then, he finds that Olivia suffered from a chipped tooth recently. He and Simon work together to unravel the mystery. When they arrive for Olivia’s body, Maxine learns that it has gone missing. Daniel tracks down Kurt. He smashes Kurt’s hand. Maxine bails him out. Daniel learns that the x-ray of Kurt’s hand discovered a tooth chip. He is arrested. Maxine reveals that they finally found Olivia’s body. Bruce is allowed to see the body. Later, Daniel takes the body out. Then, he is confronted by Soroya. She shows him a body found in the water. Daniel speaks with Simon about the body. He returns to the boat that night and tells Fern that he cannot go to Bora Bora. He returns and throws a pair of scissors of sort into the water. Then, we see the first scene again, It is Daniel, who is tossing the body into the water.
Harrow Review
Harrow got off to a good start. It was fairly humorous and the investigation into Olivia’s death was entertaining. I’ll agree with other viewers that Daniel’s family wasn’t that interesting. It was clear from early on that Daniel wasn’t going to go to Bora Bora with his daughter. I am not sure why they even bothered. I also thought it was a little cheesy to make Daniel the supposed killer. Nevertheless, the opener wasn’t bad at all. I’d give it a 7 out of 10 and will keep watching.

Say what? Is it just me or is the tooth in the hand totally implausible? I mean, you’d tweezer out a splinter, why would you leave a tooth chip in your finger?

Yep. Thought it was a little ridiculous too. This show has a lot of those moments. Not terrible, but not great either.
I thought they meant her tooth chipped the bone in his finger.
Has been a little while since I watched this, but that is what I thought as well. Did I write something different? lol
