As the 6th episode begins, Ed Dumani (Lucian Msamti) walks through a dark tunnel before exiting and making his way to an upscale building. Lief (Mads Koudal) bleeds in his vehicle before receiving a message asking if it is done. He responds that it isn’t finished yet. It looks like he says Sean is still alive. Jevan (Ray Panthaki) receives the message while Ed walks toward him with a gun equipped with a silencer. He takes a shot at Jevan who jumps to the ground. Jevan tells him that this isn’t going to end with his death. He says something about Ed’s son before suggesting he think about it. Ed shoots again but the gun is empty. Ed steps over to the window to view the cityscape before we jump ahead one week.
We see what happens to be a crime scene before Sean (Joe Coles) walks in on Billy (Brian Vernel) who is making a cake. Billy says he needs to get out of this house and Sean tells him that he’ll be able to do so soon. Marian Wallace (Michelle Fairley) gets dressed while listening to music. She joins her boys downstairs and kisses both of them before learning that Billy is baking a cake. Shannon (Pippa Bennett-Warner) hangs out with Elliot (Sope Dirisu) who is still recovering from his gunshot wound. Shannon admits she is worried about Danny getting shot but Elliot isn’t and he promises that they’ll find out who did it. Shannon appreciates that Elliot is able to talk about Samuel in front of her. They hear a loud noise outside so Shannon rushes out and checks on Danny only to find that everything is okay.
Danny plays with a bullet while Shannon goes outside to argue with the loud man. We join Mirlinda (Eri Shuka) and Luan Dushaj (Orli Shuka). They meet with Ed and the Adige CEO (Pavel Douglas) to sign paperwork and talk about their money. Luan tells Ed to thank Sean for honoring his father’s deal. Then, Luan gives Ed everything he has been able to find out from his Albanian contacts. The family Finn wanted to get rid of made their money in oil and storage. Luan is surprised to learn that Ed knows that they washed Mosi’s money and that he is building a tower for him. Ed tells him this is his free pass and he’ll get to build one tower in the city but he is warned not to go against them again. Ed says Mosi is a dangerous business partner to have.
Marian cleans up the mess from the previous night before listening to the same song again. Sean looks at the pictures of the people Finn has murdered. He gets a call from Ed confirming that he told Luan that Alexander (Paapa Essiedu) would oversee the transfer. Ed is convinced that Luan is telling the truth about the family Finn hired him to kill and they believe that Alex will be able to use the information Luan provides to find out more about the connection Finn had with the family in question. Ed warns that the attackers aren’t going to stay away forever. When the call ends, Ed tells Alex that they’ll get through this. Billy continues working on his cake before talking to Sean about their father’s Big Bumper Book of Rules About Killing. Billy claims Sean still sees a dead innocent kid.
When Marian enters, Sean admits Billy is right and hiding out in the house isn’t working. Marian wants to find out why they had a killer in their house and she tells Sean to do what it takes. After that, we join DI Vicky Chung (Jing Lusi) as she meets with Elliot under a bridge. She is upset because she hasn’t been able to get in touch with him for a long time. He shows her his wound and admits he has been staying with Shannon. He tells her about Sean and his family staying in a safe house and not knowing who is trying to kill them. He is convinced Sean trusts him now that he has taken a bullet for him. He says he’ll be right next to Sean when they find out who is responsible and he’ll give Vicky the names.
She is concerned since she knows the would-be killers will strike again. Alex tells his father he doesn’t think it was a coincidence that Sean was attacked when they were meeting with Jevan. Alex wants to speak to Jevan but Ed doesn’t want that to happen. Ed tells him that they want Ed to keep running the business he helped Sean build and they don’t want Sean to be a part of it. Alex learns that their investors killed Finn because he was trying to leave. Ed reveals he figured out the truth after going to Jevan when Sean was attacked. Alex can’t believe he kept a secret for a week. Alex wants to tell Sean but Ed says doing so would start a war that they would never win.
Sean finds Billy sitting on the floor next to the dog that was shown licking blood from the floor. Sean walks through a portion of the house that is covered with plastic. He enters one of the rooms and hears Marian interrogating the would-be assassin. He has the plies and takes them to the woman who is hanging from the ceiling. Billy continues working on his cake as he hears the woman screaming in the distance and this throws him off of his game. Moments later, Sean takes a shower and Marian cleans up his clothes. Elliot arrives and is promptly greeted by Billy before being let inside. Billy reveals they’re staying in the house belonging to one of the happily married men he sees sometimes.
He says it suits him because he likes the boundaries. Elliot learns about the cake and Baxter the dog. Marian enters and confirms they found nothing in the van. Sean steps into the room and thanks Elliot for coming. They eat together moments later. When that ends, Sean and Elliot go outside so Sean can ask about his motives. Elliot says he wouldn’t have a job if Sean were killed. Sean can’t figure him out and wants to know more about him. Elliot asks for more protection for Shannon and Danny. Elliot wants to talk about the assassination attempt but Sean talks about his father pushing him. Elliot says Finn sounds like a bit of an arse before suggesting the dog might be microchipped.
Marian finds Billy talking to someone on the phone. He tells her that it is Alex and he wants to meet with Sean in person but Marian says they can’t let anyone except Elliot know where they are. Elliot and Sean take the dog and search the woman’s house with their dungs drawn. They find a picture that confirms that she was in the military and she is shown with Ulrik. Elliot realizes she was with the Jaeger Corps in the Danish Special Forces. Meanwhile, Leif has his dressing changed and learns that the baby is coming soon. Leif goes downstairs and checks on Floriana (Arta Dobroshi). He tells her that he wants the money and it is happening tomorrow. Floriana reminds him that he won’t get to see a penny until she is sure her baby is safe.
She tells him several times that her baby has to live. During this time, Sean and Elliot search the assassin’s house until Sean finds out that the boy’s name is Felix. Then, they find a room filled with weapons and firearms. Meanwhile, the woman is interrogated and tortured. She tries to pick up a piece of glass using her toes. She manages to grab the glass, move it to her hand, and use it to slice her wrist. Marian returns before the woman can escape. She tells the assassin that she loved her husband but she knows he was a lying arse. She would rip his eyes out if he was here today before slashing the rope and letting the woman down. Billy begins screaming while Elliot and Sean look through the evidence the assassin has collected.
There are pictures of everyone include Shannon and Danny. Sean wonders who those people are. As they finish looking at the evidence, Felix enters and they confront the boy. Elliot tells them that they’re police and his mother has been reported missing. Felix asks if he is going to go with them but Sean says know. Felix has someone he can call. Once that is sorted out, Sean tells Elliot that he is going to go back to his mom and Billy and he’ll take Elliot to Shannon’s. Elliot wants to stay with Sean and he asks what happens to the body of the boy’s mother. Sean says they’ll never find her body. Elliot returns to Shannon moments later and finds out that Sean has sent some men around to protect her and Danny. One of those men is Anthony (David Avery).
Elliot learns that Sean gave Anthony to him and they agree that they’re good now. Marian slashes the assassin with water to wake her hug before telling Sean they need to do whatever it takes. Sean shows her pictures of the woman’s kids before Marian says they’re beautiful children. Marian demands to know who is after them. Billy grabs his keys and answers the door before Alex steps inside. He gives Billy drugs before asks about the house. Alex can hear the woman screaming so he follows the sound and finds Marian and Sean torturing the woman. Alex rushes out of the room and Sean goes after her. Alex doesn’t understand since he thought he killed her but Sean says they need to find out who they’re fighting. Sean wants to know what was so important but Alex says it is nothing and he only wanted to make sure he was okay. Alex leaves without telling Sean anything.
After that, Billy decides to use drugs. Sean interrupts and tells Billy that he gave them away for drugs. Billy says Alex is family and he can’t listen to the chaos any longer without drugs. They get into an argument and Billy tells him to look at his own actions before Alex tells him he is a killer too. Billy admits he is but he says he did that for him. They chat about Finn’s lesson with the criminal in the bucket who broke the rules. Billy says that is wrong and he recommends asking mom what that man did. After that, Ed and Alex meet with Jevan who says they’re happy to have Alex on board and running the ship. Alex and his father leave and someone takes pictures of them outside. Ed thanks his son for seeing things his way. Meanwhile, Marian continues the torture until Sean enters and tells her to stop.
He tells the woman that this can end right now. He wants to know why they killed his father and why they want to kill him. He agrees to let her go and be with her kids if she tells him what he wants to know. The woman says his mother will never allow that but Sean says his mother is not in charge. Marian leaves the room and turns on the same song once again. Sean exits before Marian tells him that she’ll send someone for her children if he doesn’t. Sean tells her that they’re not going to kill her children. He says she never defended them before and her daughter is always saying it. Sean begins talking about the secret Billy told him about the first man he killed. Marian says the man was a nobody in a bar and she didn’t know Finn would ask Sean to kill him.
Sean doesn’t believe Finn was in control at all times but Marian wanted this life too. He thinks Marian wanted to deal with anyone who got in her way without any rules or bargains. He claims Marian and Finn hid behind words to make their actions appear noble. She says everything she does to protect her family. He tells her to stop because they do not need her anymore. Marian steps away, Billy wakes up, and Sean goes outside for a smoke. Billy goes to the woman and she pleads with him not to let them hurt her children. He turns off the music and looks at the pictures of her children. She mentions Ed and Alex Dumani. Her employers told her to make sure that the hit took place when Ed and Alex were out of the house.
Billy gives her a drink before she breaks free and holds a knife to Billy’s neck. She leads him upstairs and threatens to kill him if he screams. Billy tells her that they’ll need to go to the kitchen to get the key before heading back to the door. Sean enters and points a gun at the woman. She orders him to put the gun on the counter and he does. Billy tells his brother about Ed and Alex. Sean wants to know more about that before Marian enters with a gun. The woman threatens to kill both of her sons. Sean tells his mother to put the gun down but she shoots and kills the woman instead. Sean checks on his brother but Billy is fine. Later that night, Elliot has a dream about his son and wife while sleeping next to Shannon and Danny.
Elliot wakes up and sees Anthony staring through the window. Marian steps outside and gets into her vehicle. Sean visits Alex and tries to find out what they’re hiding about the night of the shooting. Alex says they were running late while meeting with possible investors before Sean looks at his computer and sees that the transfer to Luan has failed. Alex says he has been waiting for the money to go through but the account was just emptied. He suggests it is a glitch or someone stole Luan’s money and he’ll think it was them. Sean wonders who would want to start a war between them. He says enough before the episode ends.
Gangs Of London Review
Although I didn’t mind this episode, I find it odd that the storyline took such a dramatic shift. The main storyline from the start of the season has been completely finished with Darren and his father killed. I am not sure how interested I am in what is going on now but I think it can get interesting as things go on.
In addition to that, I think Billy is a more interesting character than Sean. I can’t be the only one. The show would likely be a lot more interesting if Billy was leading the Wallace organization. I am not a big fan of the cliché gimmick that the main character is a gangster who doesn’t like to kill people.
I think what is hurting the show for me is that I really can’t develop a relationship with any of the characters. Although I think the Billy character is interesting, I am not positive I could root for him and I haven’t rooted for Sean or Elliot either. The episode scores a 6.5 out of 10. Previous recaps of Gangs of London are available on Reel Mockery.

Have only just discovered GoL and, you’re right, there is a hell of a lot going in each episode. Without your detailed recaps I would already be lost, even needed to watch the first episode x3 times and found I still wasn’t up to speed until ep4. Love the fact you keep posting recaps even though you clearly hate the show and forgive your spelling and grammar gafs that must be as a result lol!
lol Yeah. I tend to lose interest in perfecting the recaps when I lose interest in the show, but once I’ve started I usually feel obligated to finish. Couple that with the fact that I try to do these in between work and it is always a mad rush to get the episodes recapped and posted.
Plus, I watch and recap at the same time so to keep up I have to work quickly and constantly start and stop. Usually have no time to reread 2,000 words unless I really like the show which I didn’t Gangs of London in the beginning. It kinda grew on me in the end though.
Thanks for stopping by! 🙂 Glad the recaps could be of some benefit.
