One More Day – As the fourth episode of Florida Man begins, Mike Valentine (Edgar Ramirez) takes Iris (Lex Scott Davis) to Atlantic City. Mike gambles until Iris pulls him away. In the present, Iris rides on a plane to Florida. Buzz (Mark Jeffrey Miller) ends up telling Steve Hubley (Stephan Jones) about the gold again. When Steve asks him about it, Buzz tries to act like he was just talking crap. Delly finds that Eric (Kevin Johnson) has his dad restrained inside the church because he has dementia. It is nice to get to spend time with his dad this way. When Buzz shoots Steve, Eric hears what he thinks is a gunshot. Delly (Abbey Lee) asks about the bathroom.

Buzz explains what happened to Sonny (Anthony LaPaglia) and Mike before Ray-Ray (Leonard Earl Howze) joins them. When Steve’s body floats to the water’s surface, they realize they have another problem to deal with. Ray offers to take the body to their place, but Sonny argues it is too far to take a dead body. Buzz says he can dive in and put the body in the trunk of the Porsche. Mike decides to go get some stuff so he can clean up the mess Buzz created. He texts Delly to instruct her to stall the guard. Eric hears her asking why so she claims she is just praying for guidance. Moss Yankov (Emory Cohen) calls a friend of his dad to ask him to find Mike Valentine. The woman at the motel catches Mike taking cleaning supplies and learns the mess isn’t in his room.

She wants to be paid to clean up his mess since she doesn’t want him to leave anything that police could trace back to the motel. The police arrive at the church. Tyler (Isabel Gameros) hears on the radio that they’re investigating a possible elder abuse case at the Church of the Revelation. When Mike gets back, he learns that Delly made a concerned citizen 911 call. The cleaner goes to work. Eric is taken out of the church. Once Mike asks who he is, Delly claims he was a child molester. Mike and Delly have sex when they go back to the motel. In the morning, Officer Andy Boone’s wife tries to talk to him, but he is distracted by something else. He is convinced Mike was at the scene and Sonny is lying to him to help cover it up.

Mike receives a message from Kaitlin Fox (Lauren Buglioli) who knows he doesn’t work for the Department of Transportation. She thinks he can be her new story. Sonny kisses a woman who Mike believes might be his 10th grade history teacher Miss Larson. They argue about putting the truck off for another day although Mike wants to pull it up tonight. Once Mike explains that the cops are going to start looking for the crane operator, Sonny suggests they can use airbags like salvage divers use. He says they can drag the truck to the church, offload it, and sink it again. At the motel, Delly plays around with tarot cards. Mike returns and tells her that they’ve been working out a new plan. She suspects Sonny likes doing this with Mike.

Delly says they’re out of there in one more day. In a flashback, Iris gets up at three in the morning and finds Mike downstairs gambling. She reminds him that they were supposed to get away and have a good time. Dutch goes to Mike’s motel to ask about him. Benny (Isaiah Johnson) tells him it is room two, but the female worker, Clara, says he checked out. Once he leaves, she tells Benny that a friend of Mike is not a friend of theirs. Iris surprises Patsy (Otmara Marrero) by visiting her at home. She tries to get information from Patsy who asks if she is there as someone who cares about Mike or a cop. Iris claims she can be both. Patsy says she can’t as she begins trying to get rid of Iris. Dutch knocks on Delly’s door and says he is looking for Mike Valentine.

She denies knowing him, but ends up letting Dutch inside to use the bathroom. While he is in there, Delly hides Mike’s shoes and grabs a handgun. When Dutch comes out, he mentions that he saw a man’s shaving stuff so he suspects she is married. Deputy Ketcher (Clark Gregg) makes it to a laundromat and begins searching for clothes. A woman and kid catch him. He insists this isn’t who he is. His wife said he was working all the time so he tried to do something good for his kids. She tells him it is okay before asking him to leave. Ketcher gets money to use the payphone only to find that the phone is broken. Mike contacts Patsy and learns about Iris’s visit. He calls Sonny to tell him and to say he just Ray-Ray at the boat.

Moss calls Dutch (Ritchie Coster) to complain about him not finding Mike yet. Dutch notices a guy driving away and suspects it could be Mike. Iris manages to find Gil’s boat. She speaks to the man working there about the security cameras. Mike speaks to Patsy who says she’d do anything to keep him there. She wants to make sure he isn’t doing anything to put her family in danger. Mike says there is a guy wanting someone punished for the dead woman. It will either be Mike or the EMT. Patsy offers to speak to the EMT’s mother. Mike insists everything is going to be fine. Kaitlin storms into an interview room to ask Detective Meghan Suhy (Lauren Halperin) for a favor.

She wants her to track the owner of a Philadelphia cellphone number. Mike suspects someone is following him. He gets in touch with Sonny who confirms Ray is bringing the floats to the church and Buzz is getting the truck. Sonny tells him to get over there now if he wants to get it done tonight. Mike tells him about the Buick following him before asking him to take down the plate. Sonny calls Andy to ask him to run the plate. Andy says he can’t before asking if that was Mike in the sketch. When Sonny says no, Andy says he won’t run the plate for him. Once Mike catches up with Sonny and Delly, he learns that the man’s name is Dutch. Sonny decides to call Ray. Mike tells him not to because he can give Dutch the same story he gave Moss.

Ray interrupts to say he couldn’t drop off the stuff at the church because they’re installing security cameras. Sonny gives Mike his keys so he can take Delly and leave on the boat. Mike isn’t willing to do that. Delly follows Mike to tell him they should take his dad up on the deal. Mike refuses because he thinks his dad will take it all. When Mike leaves, Sonny and Delly talk about the situation and who started it. Sonny says she can stay at his place since she doesn’t want to return to the motel. Mike tells Dutch the good news is that he has decided not to kill him. He suspects Moss sent him to see what he is doing. Mike insists he is doing exactly what he told Moss he was doing.

When Dutch asks what he is doing, Mike claims he is getting video evidence on who killed Moss’s girlfriend. Mike tells him that he needs one more day. He will pay Dutch five grand not to say anything to Moss. Mike agrees to give him more just before Ray arrives and they get into a scuffle. Mike locks Dutch in a porta-potty and tries to stop Ray from killing him. Iris sees the surveillance video of Mike visiting Gil’s boat. Mike eventually lets Ray shoot the porta-potty. Iris finds a video of Delly at the boat too.

 

Florida Man Review

The fourth episode of Florida Man was okay although many of the scenes were probably unnecessary. If the series would’ve been a few episodes shorter, it wouldn’t need so much filler to reach the required episode count. Edgar Ramirez’s accent is getting a little difficult to understand at times so subtitles are pretty much a must at this point.

That was an iffy casting choice like some of the others in the series. The story is okay although it’d be better without so many side stories. The real question is whether the journey will feel like it was worthwhile when the finale is over. The series is watchable although it is hard to get excited about anything that is happening including the next episode.
