Sarah Lancashire (Julia, Last Tango in Halifax, Lark Rise to Candleford) to return as Sergeant Catherine Cawood for the final season of “Happy Valley.” The series will kick off at 9pm on January 1, 2023, on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
Writer, Sally Wainwright (Gentleman Jack, Scott & Bailey, Last Tango in Halifax) will return to direct the six-part series three. Sarah Lancashire, Faith Penhale, Ben Irving, Rebecca Ferguson, and Will Johnston executive-produced the show.
A Look At Happy Valley Season 3
When Sergeant Catherine Cawood gets word a body is found in a reservoir previously drained, she doesn’t waste time looking up Tommy Lee Royce (James Norton). As she focuses on the investigation, her now 16-year-old grandson, Ryan ponders the type of relationship he’d like to have with his father, Richard Cawood (Derek Riddell).
Cawood’s sister, Clare Cartwright (Siobhan Finneran) is once again caught in the middle of all the drama.

Where Was Happy Valley Season 3 Filmed
The final season of “Happy Valley” was predominantly filmed in the Calderdale area. Filming locations include Mythomolroyd, Halifax, Ripponden, Wainstalls, Hebden Bridge, Luddenden, Wainstalls, and Sowerby Bridge. Other filming locations include Kirklees, Bolton, Leeds, and Bradford.
