Netflix has announced it has entered into a partnership with Academy Award nominated filmmaker Noah Baumbach to bring a direct adaptation of “White Noise” to Netflix. In addition, Baumbach will write and direct films exclusively for Netflix for the next several years. Baumbach’s first film for the streaming giant was The Meyerowitz Series, which starred Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, and Emma Thompson.
It was followed by the highly acclaimed Marriage Story. His next will be White Noise, an adaptation of Don DeLillo’s seminal novel. Baumbach will work alongside David Heyman to produce the new film. The couple produced Marriage Story together previously. Filming on White Noise is expected to begin later this year.
Speaking on the newly announced partnership Noah Baumbach said, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be making movies with Ted and Scott and everyone at Netflix, who are wonderful collaborators and friends and family.”
Don DeLillo’s White Noise was published in 1985 and won the United States National Book Award for Fiction. The novel is set at a mid-western college known as The-College-on-the-Hill and follows Jack Gladney, a professor who has built a name for himself by pioneering in the field of Hitler studies.
The story tracks the college professor and his family when the town is evacuated after an industrial accident. Stay tuned to Reel Mockery News for future updates.
