Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have announced that filming has begun on the adaption of Dune. The film is being directed by Oscar nominee Denis Villeneuve, who is best known for his work on Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival.
Dune is an adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name by Frank Herbert. It is set to star Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, and Jason Momoa. Dune follows the story of Paul Atreides. The gifted young man was born into a great destiny beyond his understanding.
He will need to muster up the courage to venture to a dangerous planet to ensure the future of his family and people. Malevolent forces do battle in an attempt to obtain the planet’s most precious resource, which is capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential. Only those capable of conquering their fear will overcome the obstacles and survive.
Villeneuve co-wrote the screenplay with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts. Dune is slated to be released worldwide on November 20, 2020. Filming is taking place in Budapest, Hungary and Jordan. Further details have been made available here.
