Bean And Nothingness – The episode opens in Jonesie’s (Jaelynn Thora Brooks) nightmare. She and Davey (Veronika Slowikowska) are in Principal Debbie Neighbors’ (Evany Rosen) office. Cheryl (Emily Piggford) threatens to kill them when Jonesie wakes in a fright. Davey assures her that it is just a dream. Surrounded by skeletons, Jonesie looks over to see a paper plate with a smiley face attached to a mop.
While applying her makeup, Davey announces it is the day, Jonesie. In another spectrum, Davey paints her lips with a blue marker and says they will kill Jonesie today. She places a crown of markers on her head. Laughing, she looks over at something labeled “Jonesie” and pays her a compliment.
9 Weeks Earlier – Jonesie and Davey arrive in Bean and Nothingness Universe 505 to find Schrodinger High School vandalized and abandoned. They look outside to find the school on a small island surrounded by water. Davey half-heartedly suggests they will survive when they spot a plate of grilled cheese on white bread. Jonesie points out that it is Stephen Schneider’s (Dan Beirne) favorite. They take advantage of there being no adult supervision or rules. After a bit of hell-raising, they return to the lab to find what they believe is Schneider’s skeleton. They find a pile of carcasses in the basement. Davey freaks out. Boasting her expert survivalist knowledge, Jonesie assures her that it will be okay. They find a line created with red paint running down the center of the hallway. It leads to a metal garbage can, a burner, a makeshift bed, and a diary. After reading a few pages of the diary, they discover they turned to cannibalism to survive. A ruler barely misses Davey and lodges itself into a locker. A note on the end of the ruler reads, “I’m going for Davey.” Jonesie recognizes the bubble letters as her own.
M.O.M. Headquarters – Cheryl is forced to endure the Delinquent Acquisitions Manager, Karl’s (Tim Gilbert) bad eating habits while waiting to be addressed. He recalls how she got demoted to the Juvenile Department after Schneider’s debacle. He warns that her inactivity could cause irreparable deterioration to 6689. She assures him that Jonesie and Davey will be apprehended. He says a colleague is concerned about her mental well-being when Andy (James Hartnett) asks if he is late. Andy tries to justify his reporting her. She claims to know how they operate. Karl points out that it has been eight weeks since she picked up their signature.
Universe 505 – Davey and Jonesie eat baked beans out of a can. Jonesie questions why Universe 505’s Davey and Jonesie would turn to cannibalism when the kitchen was stocked with canned baked beans. Davey says their friendship is strong enough to fight the urge to eat each other. Jonesie reads page 45 from Universe 505’s Davey’s diary – “Jonesie is driving me up the wall. She chews so loud.” Davey claims it never crossed her mind when Jonesie chomps her baked beans. They find a can of powdered white bleach concealed in a Davey’s Beans label created by Jonesie. They divert their attention from their dire situation by having fun and devouring baked beans.
D.A.D. Division Middle Management – Cheryl assures Karl that she will detain Jonesie and Davey. Not so sure, he reminds her that she lost Amelia Earhart. She denies the allegation. She says the Universe 6689 Jonesie and Davey’s destructive friendship is unlike any of the others in the multiverse.
Universe 505 – Jonesie finds Davey making about with a hockey puck that she believes is Abbot (Kevin Osea). Jonesie drives a trashcan, thinking it is a car. As time passes, they get more fed up with each other.
The Night of the Debutante Ball – Wearing a crown of markers, Davey is hallucinating Emile (Nikko Angelo Hinayo), The Duke, and Alexis (Alea Yaphe). She pours them a glass of champagne which is actually baked beans. Jonesie busts up her party because she wasn’t invited. After a bit of back-and-forth, Jonesie slings The Duke (a soccer ball with a hand-drawn face) across the room. Davey declares war on her. Jonesie vows to take her down before leaving. Davey becomes frantic because she believes Jonesie ruined her social standing.
D.A.D. Division Middle Management – Karl questions Cheryl’s claim of Universe 6689 Davey and Jonesie posing a threat to the multiverse. She continues to stick by her claim. He asks if she believes their threat warrants punishment of detainment and permanent memory loss. Andy and Karl believe it is too severe for juvenile besties. She asks them to trust her, it needs to be done.
Universe 505 – Jonesie and Davey meet in the hallway to battle it out. Davey releases her imaginary dragons and Jonesie releases hell. The battle is over fairly quickly when they realize neither of them wants to harm the other. They embrace, even though, they are stuck.
D.A.D. Division Middle Management – Before Karl hands the case over to M.O.M., Cheryl suggests Schneider is Jonesie and Davey’s accomplice. She says he was banished to Schrodinger High School which Davey and Jonesie attended. She claims he created the portal that aided in their escape and utilizes holo-technology to contact other versions of himself. Karl and Andy refute her claim.
Schneider 6689 arrives at Universe 505. Holding up his remote, he asks if they are ready to go home as the episode ends.
Davey & Jonesie’s Locker Review
The episode starts out pretty bad but improves as the story progresses. Jonesie and Davey face one of their biggest challenges yet in Universe 505. On the verge of killing each other, their strong friendship helps them come to their senses.
The script appears to be a compilation of bits and pieces from other sources. On a good note, there is just enough to make the story somewhat unique. The dancing and singing is nearly intolerable. Schneider balances out the story to make it less obnoxious.
The episode deserves a 4.5 out of 10. Get more Davey & Jonesie’s Locker recaps here. Support Reel Mockery by donating. Learn how advertising with us can help build your brand awareness. Join our newly established forum to discuss the show and other TV series.
