Steve (Mark Killeen) rushes in to check on Pamela who insists she’s fine. Pamela now accepts that Helen’s killer was a woman. Eddie doesn’t think Pamela’s attacker was alpha. He says he monitors their chat rooms and they haven’t bragged about something like this. Everyone goes back to the station to watch the video and check on the other phone. Pamela asks about Cass. Eddie tries calling her. The phone sitting in rice begins ringing. Aisha (Alisha Bailey) helps them go through the content on Cass’s phone. They find the video of Helen talking about teaching boys. Pamela goes through all the reasons Cass might’ve killed Helen. She tells Sue Ferguson (Lucy Benjamin) that they should cut Sarah loose to see if she leads them to Cass. They install a tag and let Sarah go. Eddie learns that Greg is the one who vandalized Helen’s car. His prints matched those on the spray can.

Eddie is told to follow Sarah while Pamela speaks to Greg. Pamela sends Aisha with Eddie. Next, a car speeds away from Pamela who writes down the license plate. Once she meets Greg (Tommy McDonnell), he says he had nothing to do with Helen’s death. He admits he was angry about being wrongfully imprisoned. Greg claims he didn’t put Cass up to getting the video. Pamela barges inside to see if he’s hiding Cass in there. She shows Greg the video of Helen and tells him what Cass did. Greg denies pushing Helen’s car anywhere. Eddie asks Aisha about Steve. She says he was a good guy and a good cop. They follow Sarah. Pamela tells Sue about her conversation with Greg. She checks the license plate and finds out that they’re fake. Sue shows her a letter found in one of Helen’s drawers. Pamela remembers the symbol on the letter. She gets the pamphlet for “Saving The Sisterhood” since it has the same symbol.

Janet (Anita Dobson) is brought in for questioning. She says pornography endangers women. Pamela asks how she knew Helen was a cam girl. Pamela suspects Cass told her. Janet says she got closer to Cass when her mom became distracted. She admits she felt protective of Cass. Janet told Cass what she does to protect women from themselves mostly. Cass says she knows a pornographer. Janet tells Pamela she was worried about Helen and was trying to save her. Pamela seems to zone out briefly. She asks Janet if she was at the parent-teacher event. Janet was. They talk about Tom (Ciaran Owens) who was discussing the dangers of pornography. Janet thinks Pamela should speak to Sian Williams because she saw her whispering to Helen earlier that afternoon. Pamela wonders if Helen agreed to testify against Sarah. Becki Sutton (Phoebe Sparrow) interrupts to say the fella is here again. Pamela asks Becki to call Sian and get her to come in.

Eddie and Aisha follow Sarah to the halfway house where Greg was. Steve tells Pamela that someone was breaking into her house. It was a woman with a police badge. He suggests it might be Sue. Pamela asks Becki for the names of the men who were arrested for violating curfew last night. Becki says there weren’t any. Pamela calls Eddie who confirms there were curfew violations last night. Pamela asks him if he’s told Aisha he loves her yet. She warns him that Aisha is out of his league. After the call, Pamela asks Sian (Amy Louise Pemberton) about being fired a few days ago for harassing Helen Jones. Sian says she was stressed so it’s possible she stepped over the line. The next thing she knew she was fired. Sian had no idea how to tell Ben. Meanwhile, Ben is trying to teach Max (James Craven) a lesson about punching holes into walls. He says Max needs to learn how to channel his strength.

They find out that Sian took the day off. Rhys (Larry Lamb) thinks that’s good since she has responsibilities around there. Sian checks on her dad. Pamela asks about the parents’ meeting yesterday. Sian says it was awkward with Paul’s death hanging over everyone. She admits she knew about Sarah sleeping with her husband. Sian told him he was free to consort with whoever he liked although she urged him to use more discretion next time. Ben says he got their youngest son tagged. Someone had to make the decision around there with Sian being at work. Sian says even Sarah’s own daughter was hoping she’d win. Pamela asks about Sian being friendly with Helen. Sian mentions Total Harmony and explains that Helen’s cohab counselor is a volunteer there.

After Sian lost her job, she started volunteering there too. Sian found out about Tom and  Helen. It was a relationship Helen was starting to doubt. Sian could see that at the parent meeting. Helen was starting to worry she had been manipulated somehow. Sian says she saw the fight between Helen and Sarah. She reveals that someone had been coercing Helen who was a cam girl and it was Cass. In a flashback, Cass tells Max she has a surprise for him. She shows him the video of Helen. Cass says Helen should’ve never ruined her dad’s life. She wants Max to play the video when she tells him to. Cass asks Greg to hold her bag. Then, she steps onto the stage and speaks into the microphone. Cass talks about Helen before asking Max to play the video. Max plays the wrong video. Billy (Selorm Adonu) follows Cass when he runs back to Max. Max tells Cass that she can’t do that because it’ll ruin Helen’s life.

He runs away. Billy checks on Cass. She gets upset with him. Billy warns her that she’s going to end up all alone if she keeps pushing away people who care about her. Sian stops Max to ask what happened. He gives her the phone. Sian tells Pamela that Max felt a bit protective of Helen. In a flashback, Helen thanks Max. Helen goes to her car and throws Cass’s phone in the glove box. Sian believes Helen snapped. Helen goes back inside to speak to Sarah about her daughter. She suggests Sarah taught her daughter that behavior. When Ben interrupts, Helen yells at him. Helen tells Sarah to tell the police the truth about Greg and Paul. Sarah refuses because they’d take Cass away from her. When Helen says they should, Sarah slaps her. Helen tells Arjun (Riz Khan) that Paul wasn’t reaching for her Taser that day. Pamela doesn’t understand why Helen would confide in Sian.

Sue checks on Pamela. As Pamela walks outside, Eddie tells her they lost Sarah. Greg interrupts her to tell her that something is wrong. Curfew Review

The fifth episode of Curfew had some interesting moments although there were plot holes galore. For instance, there were many nights when men weren’t violating the curfew. There’s a good chance someone would’ve caught that much sooner. As the series has progressed, the investigation has become even weaker.

There isn’t one since all the revelations happen using flashbacks. This has been the case since the third or fourth episode. Some performances are just okay and not as good as they could be, especially considering this is a British drama. There is so much more the series could’ve achieved if it had focused on the politics of the whole thing and the curfew itself.

Instead, this is just a typical crime drama with those things in the background. The issue with the finale scene is that viewers should care about Cass and they likely won’t. Otherwise, the episode was better than some of the others. It scores a 5 out of 10. Recaps of Curfew can be found here.
