Heavy – As this episode of Colin From Accounts begins, Gordon (Patrick Brammall) entertains Ashley (Harriet Dyer) in bed with Colin. Chiara (Genevieve Hegney) and Megan (Emma Harvie) interrupt and join them. Megan shows them Professor Lee (Darren Gilshenan) on a live stream Ashley urges them to ask him about his eczema. Later, Ashley calls Lynelle (Helen Thomson) to tell her Lee is doing a live Ask Me Anything. Lynelle claims he’s only allowed 20 minutes of Internet time. Flash’s brother, Heavy, enters the house and introduces himself to Ashley. Alistair (Justin Rosniak) claims Gordon is expecting him. At Echo Park Brewery, Chiara tells Gordon about bird nesting her kids with a guy she doesn’t love anymore.
Gordon asks how long Megan will keep coming to his place. Brett (Michael Logo) is busy speaking to a meditator named Allan and his parents about moving out. Gordon learns that his brother is at his place. He decides to leave so his brother doesn’t get him into trouble. Ashley tries to find a place for Alistair to stay. While cleaning up, she finds a bunch of cans of alcohol from the brewery’s early days. Alistair realizes she’s the dog girl and she’s Gordon’s girlfriend. He claims Gordon is stealthy and sends him pictures but not of Ashley yet. Gordon returns and reminds his brother he needs to announce when he’s coming. He checks on Ashley who is upstairs. Gordon wants to make sure she’s not mad. Ashley asks if they’re exclusive. Gordon quickly says yes.
He tries to butter her up until she tells him to get out. Gordon goes downstairs to confront Alistair since he believes he said something to Ashley. Brett joins them and says he can’t go home. Brett’s lawyer Justin barges in and goes straight upstairs. Alistair learns about Chiara and Megan. Justin (Arka Das) comes in with drugs before the party begins. Brett hangs out with Chiara and Megan. He tells them that they’re awesome together. Chiara says she’s feeling it. It’s just a lot with Andre (Matthew Moore) and the kids. Megan feels like a home wrecker although Chiara says she’s breaking her wedding vows. Brett thinks they’re all home wreckers in different ways. Alistair tells Ashley and Gordon how he felt when Katie bent over in her undies. He insists he’s the screw up and not Gordon.
Alistair tells Ashley about a move Gordon used to do. She urges Gordon to do it so she won’t assume it’s a form of sexual assault. Ashley tells them about her move. She goes for drinks moments later. When they’re alone, Alistair tells Gordon that Ashley is fun. Megan and Chiara continue talking about their relationship with Brett guiding them. Ashley returns with drinks. She surprises Gordon with his “Cathy Cream Your Jeans Ale”. They argue about the reason Gordon kept them. He offers to take them to work if they bother her so much. Brett apologizes to Colin for domesticating him. Ashley asks Gordon how many women he’s slept with. Ashley says she’s been with nine people. Gordon doesn’t want to answer her.
He insists it’s no more than a hundred. Ashley doesn’t even know who he is anymore. Gordon does the math to make it sound better. Alistair thinks it’s time for him to settle down. In the morning, Alistair runs into Andre as he leaves. He tells Andre that Chiara isn’t there, but Andre barges inside anyway. Andre and Chiara argue while their kids play video games. Andre eventually leaves. In the car, Ashley tells Gordon she wants him to get a sexual health checkup as soon as possible. Gordon asks her to see a therapist. They get into an argument. Ashley yells at him to get the check up before leaving. Megan asks for Ashley’s help with a patient who happens to be Gordon. He’s brought flowers to say he’s sorry. Ashley admits she really wanted to stay angry.
Gordon apologizes multiple times. He tells Ashley he came for a sexual health check and Gene said she was the best. Ashley shuts the curtain to begin the check.
Colin From Accounts Review
This episode of Colin from Accounts was okay although it feels like something is missing this season. By this point, Colin has become a moot point and no longer seems to matter besides the occasional joke. There doesn’t seem to be a core purpose here since the episodes have mainly focused on Gordon and Ashley arguing.
The jokes have been hit and miss with most falling into the latter category. The series remains watchable, but it really doesn’t have the same charm it had last time around. Watching these episodes just feels like we’re going through the motions just to see where things go. There is no emotional connection to the characters or the dog.
Even worse is that some of the jokes have switched from moderately clever to slightly annoying. Again, this has been watchable but I will definitely lower my expectations going forward. The episode scores a 5 out of 10. Catch up with past recaps of Colin From Accounts here.
