High Needs People – As the finale of Colin From Accounts begins, Lynelle (Helen Thomson) asks Ashley (Harriet Dyer) if she seems less intuitive because she just had Botox in her third eye. Lynelle tells her to stop mooning over him, but Ashley says she is mooning over Colin. Lynelle says she can’t have a crippled dog before trying to find out what Lee is doing. When the family calls, Ashley breaks down and says she can’t give him back. Ashley leaves with Colin a short time later. Once she meets with Gordon (Patrick Brammall), she tells him that the guy on the phone sounded normal.
Gordon reveals his hand has a boxer’s fracture. They decide to call the guy because he is 20 minutes late. They see Matt (Bert LaBonte) down the way. When he comes over, he is surprised by the dog’s condition. Ashley reminds him she told him Colin was hit by a car while Gordon insists they don’t know who was driving it. Matt gets upset and says his 10-year-old boy was devastated when his dog ran away. He thinks he is going to let him down again. Matt asks if he is expected to build ramps for it. He confesses he never wanted the dog. His boy did although he never picks up the dog’s crap or walks it. Gordon and Matt get into an argument with Matt threatening to break his other hand.
As they leave, Ashley questions if Gordon has ever wondered if he has a problem with rage. Gordon asks what they’re going to do since he can’t look after Colin alone. Ashley admits she can’t either before asking if he knows anyone who is looking for a dog. They call Brett (Michael Logo) to ask him. He tells them about an animal rescue nearby and asks for Megan’s number. Chiara (Genevieve Hegney) overhears and explains that she really liked Megan the other day. Brett says he won’t call her if this is a good moment for Chiara. She reminds him that she is married. They both get the same message from Megan. Ashley and Gordon aren’t impressed with the dog rescue.
They worry about going through the fence so Gordon picks up Colin first. When Jenny (Genevieve Lemon) comes out, Gordon tells her they’re potentially dropping off. They quickly try to find out whether Jenny is equipped to deal with a high-needs dog like Colin. She tells them they’re high-needs people and dogs are dogs. Jenny isn’t happy when they decide to leave with Colin. Brett calls to say his neighbors are still looking for a dog. He agrees to send them the contact details for Phoebe (Sophie Bloom). Megan (Emma Harvie) meets Chiara and Brett at the brewery. They talk about the guy who fell from the window and is now suing them.
Megan offers to pay the 500 for the party before explaining that Gordon and Ashley broke up. They refuse to let her pay. Megan hopes she didn’t embarrass herself during the party because she doesn’t remember anything after the shots. Brett and Chiara are downtrodden when she leaves. Gordon and Ashley take Colin to see Phoebe. She invites them in to meet Angus (Sam Cotton) and Berlin (Indiana Jewel Clarke). Berlin tells Ashley that she has frizzy hair and her mom is prettier. They make sure they can help Colin urinate. Gordon asks them not to change his name since it would be his third name and it could be confusing. Angus doesn’t love Colin because it is a weird name for a dog.
Berlin wants to call him Peppy. Gordon and Ashley are terrified watching Berlin play with Colin. Phoebe thanks them for not making it a big goodbye. In the car, Ashley questions whether that was the right thing to do. Gordon tries to convince her that it is going to be okay. Lynelle calls Ashley to ask her to come home because something has happened to Lee (Darren Gilshenan). Once Gordon drops her off, he says he’ll see her around. Ashley asks if that is it. Lynelle complains to Ashley that everyone can see how many Candy Crush games Lee had played. He has played hundreds of games with this 21-year-old Korean girl, but he kept saying it was spam. Lynelle found out he had been sending her money for months.
Ashley was right and Lynelle is sorry she didn’t believe her. When her mother gets a call from Lee, Ashley looks at the bowls on the floor. She goes outside and finds Gordon crying in the backseat of his car. She joins him before Gordon says it is a lot. Gordon believes he accidentally opened his heart to a crippled dog and she slipped through the opening at the same time. If this is falling in love, Gordon doesn’t like it because it is exhausting. Ashley feels like she is going insane. Gordon asks what they do before Ashley kisses him. She thinks they should go get their dog back. Gordon says thank God.
They complain about the family. Ashley says they’ll figure out how to get him back on the way there, but they’re going to make that little girl cry. Gordon says good.
Colin From Accounts Review
The finale of Colin from Accounts gave viewers everything they wanted with Gordon and Ashley getting back together to rescue Colin from the weird family. In terms of episode quality, there were ups and downs, but the series was enjoyable as a whole. It would be easy for the series to be renewed since the story could go on indefinitely with Gordon and Ashley attempting to care for Colin while their relationship blossoms.
Truthfully, there were only two things that could’ve probably made the series even better. For one, Colin could’ve received a lot more screen time since the story centered around him. Second, it never felt like the series reached an emotional peak, but that is a hard thing to achieve with any series. There wasn’t a tearjerker moment for me personally.
Regardless, the series was charming, uplifting, and funny most of the time making it a good binge that won’t consume too much of your time. The finale scores a 7 out of 10.
