Toyota Cressida – As the third episode of Colin From Accounts begins, Gordon (Patrick Brammall) and Ashley (Harriet Dyer) have breakfast while discussing whether Colin (Zak) is smarter than most dogs. Ashley sees him becoming a weird dog person and Gordon agrees with that. Gordon reveals he has an appointment but nothing other than that. He won’t tell her what might be wrong. Ashley gets permission to use his Ute since Tyler (Robin Goldsworthy) has threatened to sell her stuff. She thanks him for murdering her in her sleep only for Gordon to say not yet. Gordon takes a bath and researches the upcoming procedure. Colin tries to get into the bathtub.
Gordon takes a picture of him and sends it to Ashley before realizing that his privates are exposed in the picture. Once he finds out, he immediately begins panicking and trying to figure out how to get rid of the picture. Ashley finds out that Tyler is selling her stuff so she tries to stop his customers. They argue about Tyler not wanting to help with the dog. Chiara (Genevieve Hegney) calls Gordon to let him know that the review is coming out tonight and Beckett wants a comment from him about what he was hoping to achieve with the brewery. She worries the article is about how gentrification sucks so he’ll need to spin it and say that isn’t what they’re trying to do.
Ashley calls him asking for help. He agrees to come right away. Lynelle (Helen Thomson) arrives and asks her daughter why she is stealing from the elderly. She will try to talk to Tyler to see if she can get him to stop. Gordon pulls up and learns what is going on. He does his best to get Ashley’s phone without explaining why he needs it, but she won’t give it to him. Lynelle flirts with Gordon until Ashley gets a text learning Peggy has taken a turn. Ashley tells Tyler not to sell any of her stuff since her mom paid for it before they leave to visit Peggy. Later, Gordon interrupts to tell Ashley that the stuff is in the garage now. He is introduced to Megan (Emma Harvie) while they sit with Peggy (Heather Christie). Peggy wakes up and mistakes Gordon for James. Gordon tries to get Ashley’s phone again, but she notices the text and wants to look at it.
He eventually confesses that he sent her something and wants to delete it because it isn’t important. Ashley takes the phone and looks at the picture as Gordon tries to explain what happened. Once Megan enters and hears Gordon apologizing, he decides to leave. Dr. Bruce (Tony Llewellyn-Jones) tells Gordon that they’ll be doing a flexible cystoscopy today. He explains that men who’ve had testicular cancer are at risk of developing cancer in other areas. Dr. Bruce warns him that masturbating and intercourse should be avoided after the procedure. Gordon returns and learns that Peggy will likely pass any moment now. Gordon thinks it’d be a good idea to take the dog and leave, but Megan encourages him to stay and have a drink with them.
He quickly finds out that Megan saw the photo. Peggy begins saying it is now before telling them not to let the Japs in. Once she passes away, Bernie (David Roberts) comes in to say goodbye to his mother. They won’t tell him what she said. Bernie learns about Gordon and asks if that is his lovely old Toyota Cressida out front. They talk about the car briefly with Bernie saying Gordon is very lucky because it is a really good car. As they leave, Bernie asks Ashley to thank her mom for giving him a lift from the airport. Gordon tells Ashley that was devastating before they agree to go to the pub for a beer. Lynelle interrupts and tells her daughter that she plays Farmville with Bernie so she reached out to him. She tells Gordon that she added him to Facebook even though Ashley hasn’t yet.
Lynelle wants to go pay her respects, but Ashley makes her leave instead. She tells Gordon not to have children because they’ll only break your heart. As they drink at the brewery, Gordon and Ashley talk about the impact of seeing someone die. Ashley can’t believe she died with them there since people normally wait until they’re alone. They laugh about what Peggy said about the Japs. Gordon becomes concerned when he finds out that the review has been released, but it turns out to be positive for the brewery. Ashley changes the subject by asking why Gordon thinks he is single. When he asks her, she says she is newly single so she doesn’t know yet. Gordon says he doesn’t know either because he just works most of the time. It just feels a bit empty to him so he might be expecting too much.
They end up kissing. They return to Gordon’s house with the intention of having sex, but Gordon remembers he can’t because of the procedure. He makes up an excuse and goes to the bathroom so he can cool himself down while Ashley goes to bed.
Colin From Accounts Review
Colin from Accounts has been a delightful, humorous journey even if some of the jokes don’t always hit the target. Viewers obviously know what is coming since this is a romantic comedy, but that doesn’t mean the show is predictable. Each episode has brought something new to the table with this one being funny and a bit bleak.
Still, each episode is building up to the eventual romance between Gordon and Ashley with the series being just as enjoyable as Patrick Brammall’s other comedic shows. The episode was legitimately enjoyable with the relationship quickly developing. I just wish Colin would get a little more screen time, but everything about Colin from Accounts makes it a must-watch.
The episode scores a 7.5 out of 10. Recaps of Colin from Accounts can be found on Reel Mockery here. Learn how to support our site by following this link.
