He asks if they were a couple. She assures him it was nothing.

Duke (Leo Woodall) tells Mason that he nearing the east exit. Mason shoots down two paratroopers as ATVs approach from the south end. Moving toward the exit, he is hit by a blast from an explosion, taking out his signal. Dazed, he hops a ride with a paratrooper. Descending at a high speed, they come crashing to the ground. Citadel warns the enemy is approaching before Mason’s ski boots are activated. Duke steers his jet to the bottom of the mountain to meet him. Enemy ATVs and paratroopers are in pursuit. When the snow ends, he veers off the path over a hill. Carter says Mason has fractured ribs and internal bleeding. Mason finds himself surrounded by the enemy. Carter identifies the armed female as Nadia. After an ATV explodes, she turns on the enemy while Mason runs for cover. She assists him to an ATV before heading to the extraction point where a helicopter is waiting. They are whisked away to safety.

Dahlia tells Bernard that Manticore was able to spare his uncompromised Citadel A.I. system that tracks uranium levels and nuclear weapons worldwide. She says the only problem they encountered is the passcode. While a Manticore agent aims a gun at his forehead, he asks her to “f**k off.” She tells him that Joe (Moira Kelly), Abby, and Hendrix are in Wyoming.

Bernard and Joe’s daughter, Valeria (Grainne Good) offers Hendrix a switchblade knife that Joe gave her. Abby tells Joe that she met Kyle while going to physical therapy at a local hospital.

Bernard denies Joe and Abby are in Wyoming. She reminds him of Manticore having satellites worldwide before saying they retraced his journey from their New York headquarters to Cheyenne. She assures him it won’t be long before they locate them. She accuses Citadel of horrific acts before holding up her scarred arm. She claims Carter eventually came around. Dr. Carvo (Gianni Calchetti) shows him his collection of torture tools. Bernard screams in pain as Carvo pulls out his teeth. As Anders prepares to extract Bernard’s memories from his brainstem, Bernard claims Citadel lied about Brielle being dead. Anders threatens to kill him if he is lying. Bernard asks for his phone.

During a phone call with Abby, Mason says he found the Citadel agent, Nadia. She asks if they know each other. He promises to return to her when it’s over. They profess to love each other. When the call ends, he looks up to see Nadia who tells him to board a plane at the airport in Barajas and return to the United States to protect his family. He asks her to train him to be Mason. She assures him that he doesn’t want to be Mason before ascending the stairs. He says, “Two flashing white lights in a sea of red.” She explains how the X Case locates Citadel agents in need of help. They track Carter to Fex. He asks how she knows about the black site. She claims to have been tortured by Balduino Basto (Sen Monro) while working undercover with al-Shahaab. She suggests Manticore took over the black site. She says it may be possible to rescue him if they can hack his phone to access the passcodes. After admitting to killing his brother, she says he and Mason were tight.

Morocco – While Balduino and Mason talk, Nadia utilizes a transmitter embedded in a lighter to download the data from his phone. Mason asks for his assistance in gaining access to the Chief of the Armed Forces office. Christiano (Pedro Leandro) tells him to go “f**k himself.” Mason promises to get Manticore off his back. Balduino claims Nadia was working with Manticore to take down Citadel. Nadia orders him to leave. Mason aims his gun at Christiano before fleeing.

Nadia denies Balduino’s allegations. Mason asks if she helped Manticore to kill off Citadel agents. She assures him that he wouldn’t be alive and they wouldn’t be trying to rescue Carter if she was a Manticore spy.

Showing Anders a family photo of Abby, Hendrix, and Mason, Bernard asks if she is Brielle. He informs him of Abby being married to Mason before offering to take him to where she is staying. He promises to tell him the truth if he gets him out of there. The episode comes to an end.

Citadel Review

The show goes back ten years when Mason and Nadia meet for the first time during a mission. She comes to his rescue when he is severely injured while removing a new strain of the Ebola virus from a Manticore research facility. Two weeks later, they’re intimately involved.

Back to the present, Nadia tells Kyle to go home to his family but he refuses. They utilize the Citadel X Case to locate Carter at a black site in Fex. She is familiar with the location after spending two weeks there being tortured by Balduino Basto. She killed his brother so Mason agrees to meet him so she can hack into his phone to access the passcodes to the black site. During the meeting, Balduino accuses Nadia of working with Manticore to take down Citadel. She later denies the allegations.

Bernard developed the Citadel technology that tracks nuclear weapons and uranium levels. Dahlia orders Dr. Carvo to torture Bernard until he gives up the passcode. Carvo pulls two of his teeth but he still refuses to talk. She calls in Anders to extract his memory from his brainstem. Bernard claims Citadel lied about the woman he loved being dead before showing him a photo of Abby with Hendrix and Mason. Anders was in love with Abby who is really Brielle. Bernard agrees to take him to Brielle if he helps him escape Dahlia.

The story progresses nicely with new interesting revelations. It seems Bernard may be the Citadel agent that worked with Manticore to dissolve the agency. He willingly gave up Abby/Brielle to save his own skin. The show isn’t perfect but worthy of a watch.

  1. Extract information from the brain stem. With a screwdriver. Love that Dhalia just kind of tells Anders to just go ahead and extract the info while she takes all the guards and totally just leaves the two of them alone. She’s just going to go watch Downton Abbey or something so let her know when you got it. Guards will be shining their boots and polishing brass.

Dr Carvo? Really? I think it was supposed to evoke terror. He didn’t carve much despite having all these nasty carving devices. Maybe his name should have been Dr. Pliers. At least all the torture is off screen.

If Bernard were so smart he would have made a fake 19 digit code beforehand that just erases everything and then given it to Dhalia.

Richard Madden auditioning for James Bond skiing away from bad guys. But the fun Bond like Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan rather, the morose Bond from the last three movies played by Daniel Craig.

How long before we find out that Hendrix is named that because she was conceived while “The Wind Cries Mary” was playing on, of course, a vinyl turntable 10 years ago? Or maybe “”Voodo Chile”.

I keep telling myself just roll with it. At least they played “Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll” by Blue Oyerster Cult when he first went to Fez. That was cool at least.

Granted this is a dumb show. But watchable if only to poke holes in it.

    1. Lol yep. A battery powered screwdriver nonetheless. I am really starting to question the budget here although it’d be a good tax write off. With a better story, this could’ve been spectacular obviously.

At least it is only 6 episodes. I just wish they wouldn’t make Richard look so weak and beneath Nadia so often. The missions could be tougher too because just breezing right through situations that should be dangerous.

      The paratroopers were neat though.
