The ABC Killer – The episode opens in Johannesburg, with a vehicle driving into a remote field after dark. A man promises Robyn (Kazi Khuboni) a bi-annual pay review but she is doubtful. Back in the remote field, a man physically forces Robyn out of his car when he sees a dog feeding on a human carcass. He scares the dog away. Robyn fights against her assailant as he pushes her closer to the dead body.
Micki Pistorius (Charlotte Hope) has a nightmare of being surrounded by deceased women. Later at the South African Police Service, Dan (Greg Parvess) and Jerry Behle (Kabelo Thai) are discussing rugby tickets when a frustrated, Captain Ruan Krotz (Louw Venter) enters. Krotz complains about the 15 bodies and zero suspects. Micki and Krotz suggest the killer is transferring jewelry and underwear from one victim to another. Brenda’s bra was utilized to strangle Nyameka and the jewelry Pretty was wearing belonged to his previous victim. She believes the killer has contempt for his victims. The female victims range between 20 and 30 years of age and are not sex workers. The killer strangled Gloria and her son was found deceased a short distance away but the coroner ruled out murder. Dan receives a report of a female’s body being found in Onderstepoort.
Onderstepoort – Krotz, Micki, and Erika Bothes (Donna Cormack-Thomson) arrive at the crime scene of a murdered female. One end of a rope is tied around her neck and the other end, around her ankles. Micki says when she could no longer support her legs, the rope strangled her. Later, Micki creates a timeline of the killer’s activities when she discovers his restraints became more advanced with each new victim.
Seven female bodies are located in a field near Boksburg Prison. Krotz tells Micki that there are gaps of time between the disposal of the bodies. She says the killer is growing more confident and questions why he chose the area as a killing field. Robyn’s body is covered on a stretcher. Back at SAPS, Krotz and Micki are notified of semen being found near the body in Onderstepoort. She believes the killer masturbated while the victim was strangling herself.
Robert Ressler (Sean Cameron Michael) and Micki discuss the Boksburg serial killer. President Mandela pledges his support to the police. They believe the killer is thrilled to get Mandela’s attention. Later, Erika calls Micki to tell her that Aphiwe Mthembu’s mother, Bertha (Alude Mahali) reported having contact with a man claiming to be the killer.
Ressler tells Micki that Jeffrey Dahmer claims to have cooked his victims’ muscle before eating it. He claims Edmund Kemper said after killing his mother, he put her vocal cords in the garbage disposal. When all the pieces flew at him, he said, “Jesus, the bi**h just wouldn’t quit.” He urges her to take over the investigation. Elsewhere, Bertha says the man claiming to be the serial killer addressed her by her first name and admitted to killing Aphiwe. She tells Micki and Jerry that Aphiwe had an interview with someone affiliated with a charity.
Krotz informs Micki and Erika that the victim at Boksburg has been identified as Zandi Joy Malembe who was employed at an insurance company at Beyers Park. Jerry says a man arrested for attempted sexual assault is claiming to be the serial killer. Micki assures him that the man is lying. During a press conference, a journalist (Siyasanga Nkata) asks if there is a suspect in the killings. Krotz declines to answer. She asks if there is a link between the Cleveland, Boksburg, and Atteridgeville murders. The questions continue to pour in. Ressler says the suspect in the attempted rape case is not the serial killer. Erika tells Micki that Zandi had an interview with an affiliate of the charity, Young Against Human Abuse. Dan says Moses Sithole (Charlie Eduardo) offered Aphiwe more money. Sithole has been gone for a week. Ressler urges them to send Sithole’s photo to the press.
After seeing the paper, Moses asks Sidney (Sidwell Ralitsaele) for a gun. Knowing he owes Moses, Sidney tells him to come to his workplace after 11:30pm. A short time later, Moses calls SAPS to confess. Micki asks if he has proof. He says Patience’s body can be found in Germiston at the old sports ground, underneath a bridge. He denies killing Gloria’s son or any child because he loves them. Later, Human remains are located exactly where Moses said.
Sidney reports Moses to the police. An officer notifies Krotz that Moses has arranged to pick up a gun in Boksburg. Dressed as security guards, Jerry and Krotz are waiting when Moses arrives to meet with Sydney. When Krotz asks his name, Moses hits him with a stick and runs. Jerry shoots him when he refuses to stop.
At the hospital, Micki demands to know why she wasn’t notified. Krotz says it was late. She sends Erika in to speak with Moses. Erika takes a seat next to Moses’ bed. He says the police tried to kill him. The pain prevents him from sitting up. Spitting on his hand, he begins to masturbate and tells her about his 1989 rape charge. As Erika prepares to leave, he demands she never walk away while he is talking to her and calls her a “bi**h.” Micki takes a seat beside Moses’ bed and asks why he was released from prison. He boasts of being a model prisoner and establishing Children Against Human Abuse after his release. He claims to have wanted a gun for protection from the police. He tells her that his mother threatened his life if he ever told anyone that they were kin before abandoning him at a police station. He and his siblings were transported to an orphanage but he later ran away. Moses claims to have only killed pretty women. He explains how he has been assumed by hurt.
Micki meets Mark (Steven John Ward) while at a get-together at Suzaan Pistorius’s (Zetske Van Pletzen). The episode ends.
Moses Sithole was convicted of 40 rapes, six robberies, and 38 murders on October 21, 1996. He is serving his 2,410-year sentence out at the Manguang Correctional Centre in Bloemfontein.
