As the episode begins, Mama ties up Lloyd. He tells her she has no idea who Henry was or what he went through. Mama doesn’t believe Lloyd did either. John (Billy Campbell) is awoken in the middle of the night. He finds Kelly (Alanna Bale) vomiting in the bathroom. Kelly is drunk. John promises not to say anything. Kelly complains about her mother leaving them. John believes he sees his wife. He turns the basement into a mess. He tells her he doesn’t want to see her anymore. Meanwhile, Nikki (Sophia Lauchlin Hirt) hangs out with Mama (Rya Kihlstedt). Mama is worried about the boys. At that very moment, Jack (Alex Ozerov) returns. They ask him about Lemur. He tells them about Lemur robbing another ATM.

Jack explains that Lise (Karine Vanasse) shot Lemur. Mama is not happy. In the morning, John and Kelly try to come to grip with last night’s events. John decides to go through Catherine’s photos and choose some for the exhibit. He admits he might have made mistakes. Kelly doubts it. Kelly asks what they’re going to do for Thanksgiving. She offers to cook. John reluctantly agrees. While looking at Catherine’s computer, John receives a message from Glassdrkly. The sender asks about Catherine (Deborah Hay). The sender asks if Catherine committed suicide. John asks the individual if they can meet in person. Nikki confronts Jack with a handgun. She accuses him of killing Lemur. Jack denies it before grabbing the gun and getting rough with Nikki. Mama stops him from getting sexual with her.

Mama accuses him of being soft. She tells him to get out of her sight. John tells Lise about the messages on Catherine’s computer. He asks Lise to look at the same things he is looking at. He intends to go to Toronto. She agrees to take him there. Lise meets with Sarah. She has found a match on the car keys. They watch CCTV footage of Lemur and Mama at the airport. They suspect that the car thief’s name is Liam Rouse. They identify Lemur (Nick Serino) and Sharlene Winston. They go through the other passengers on the flight. Jackson Michael Till is eventually spotted. Meanwhile, Jack loses control. He looks at the picture of Sam (Devery Jacobs). Lise looks at Lemur’s body.

She tries to brainstorm possible scenarios with John. John tells Lise about the birthday gift Catherine bought. The woman, Valerie, at the bookstore was seeing Dr. Bell too. Valerie says that the doctor was part of the reason she wanted to leave. The doctor convinced them to write suicide notes as a part of therapy. Valeries gives John a book she bought for him. It had to do with their planned trip to Ireland. John asks Lise why Catherine would buy the book if she was planning to kill herself. Jack returns to Mama. He asks her what she sees in the fire. She sees flames. He promises that he is going to get the gun and he’ll be her best lieutenant. She tells him he’ll need to prove she can trust him. She tells him to get the cop who killed Lemur. John tells Lise about Catherine seeing Dr. Jones as well.

Lise offers to look into it. She asks John to lay off for the time being. Mama takes Lloyd back inside. She gives him something to drink. He knows what she wants and he isn’t going to help. She mentions 2214 Forest Road in Halifax to threaten Lloyd’s daughter. Mama wants to know how far north Lloyd can fly them in the plane outside. John visits Dr. Bell. He reminds the doctor about the cards. John admits he was acting irrationally about the cards. John wants to know how many patients Bell has lost to suicide. John is not happy with the way the conversation goes. Bell tells his wife he doesn’t want to see John Cardinal again. Sam asks Jerry (Glen Gould) if he has breadcrumbs. He tries to hunt some down for her. Lise and John speak about Mama and her time in the army.

She has delusions about the end of the world. Jack begins stalking Jerry and Sam. Lise and John learn about Jack’s past. He is doing the same to Sam as he did to a girl in the past. Jack enters Jerry’s house with a shotgun. He confronts Sam and makes her pack her belongings. He tells her how everything is going to be destroyed. Jerry becomes suspicious when he sees the door open. Jack offers to take her to Driftwood Perch even though Mama won’t like it at first. He is convinced he’ll be able to explain everything to Mama. Jerry enters the house. His phone rings and that alerts Jack. Jerry arms himself while Jack tells Sam all about Mama. Sam tells Jack to tell her where they can meet. He doesn’t believe her. Jerry calls to her. Sam promises that she is okay.

Jerry calls for backup. Sam tries to convince Jack that she understands him. She kisses him and tells him she just needs time. Jack says she is just like the rest of them. He says she’ll be sorry when the end comes. He leaves. Sam calls for Jerry. She tells Jerry and Lise about everything. She mentions Driftwood Perch. Sam tells them about Jack talking about his mama. Sam is moved out of Jerry’s house. Lise and John talk about Driftwood Perch. John tells Lise about his visit to Dr. Bell. He explains that Bell has had nine suicides in under two years. Lise confirms she talked to Jones about the suicide notes. John agrees to finish the case with her. He returns home and checks on Kelly. She tells him that he didn’t miss it. They’re doing it now. Lise goes shopping. She sits down for a bite to eat.

John and Kelly try to enjoy their own Thanksgiving. Dyson picks up her niece Janey. They both admit they’re sad. Lise learns the store and heads for her vehicle. Mick speaks with the police about someone he saw. We see that Jack has found the guns. Mick tells Lise about Jack and the locker. They storm a storage locker and find it empty. Lise tells the detectives about Jack and Mama have the weapons. Jack approaches a police roadblock. He shoots the police officer and drives off in a hurry. McLeod (James Downing) tells Dyson (Kristen Thomson) about it. Fox (Eric Hicks) finds something Driftwood Perch. It is the old Scriver house. Police rushes there. Jack watches them from a distance. He has a sniper rifle in his hands. The old house is searched. Lise finds the drawing of Sam. She realizes that they were here. John tells her about the missing family.

There was blood in the house, but no missing bodies. Jack returns to Mama with the guns. He admits he hasn’t killed the cop yet. He tells Mama that they’re at the old house though. Jack says she was right. The weapons are enough to fight the war and enough to win.

 

Cardinal Review

This episode of Cardinal was very good. It was intense and suspenseful. There was a lot going on at once. John spoke with Dr. Bell in hopes of learning more about Catherine’s suicide. He is suspicious that Bell might somehow be involved. Meanwhile, Jack found Sam. She managed to send him away without any trouble though. Jack found the guns, but he was unable to deal with Lise. The finale should be very interesting. I can’t wait to check it out. Until then, this episode scores an 8 out of 10. I just wish some of the acting from the side characters was a little better.
