Boom, Done, Hello Jesus – The episode begins with Danny Colavito (Sebastian Maniscalco)having a hard time using the bathroom thanks to Sandra (Andrea Anders) bantering him.
Danny’s morning doesn’t get any better when he exits the bathroom to find himself confronted by Wendy (Dale Dickey) in a bathing suit. He briefly haggles with Sandra about this but it becomes clear that there will be no sway on this or the half a million he gave her when they separated.
After getting some attention from Sandra’s neighbor, Nathan (David Paymer), Wendy invites him over for a Bloody Mary. Danny’s morning doesn’t get any better when he joins up with Ray/Rayfield (Omar J Dorsey), who is in a crabby mood because of his situation with John Franklin (Brent Jennings). Matters do not get any better for Ray when Danny tells him about the missing half a million of their take. Ray wastes no time making sure the half million is coming out of Danny’s take.
Hector’s (Jorge Garcia) morning isn’t going any better now that he’s learned Lorraine Colavito (Vanessa Ferlito) has brought a full partner into their mushroom business without his approval. Hector requests a meeting, but Lorraine plays it down and says she will handle their new partner.
Danny and Ray are still on the road when Danny receives a call from Nick Quatrani (Paul Ben-Victor) who offers them a seat at the premiere sportsbook of Central America, Omni Affiliate Bets. Danny and Ray waste little time turning him down.
By this time, things are getting so hot and heavy between Nathan and Wendy that Sandra takes notice. Unfortunately, no matter what Sandra says, she can’t disinterest Wendy in Nathan, including telling her about his wife, Helen (Rondi Reed).
When Danny and Ray arrive at their bank to make a deposit, Gregory (Bob Clendenin) lets them know he’s being let go. He also offers to diversify their money in such small increments that the IRS would never know. It takes Danny and Ray a bit, but they agree to the offer, on a trial basis.
Danny returns home that evening to find Nathan sneaking out of his house. After a bit of awkward back and forth, Nathan swears Danny to secrecy. It is only minutes after Nathan leaves that Danny takes his concern to Sandra. Sandra has really changed her opinion from earlier but agrees to speak with Sandra.
Lorraine tries to bring up her partner situation with Walt Dinty (Rob Corddry) but he doesn’t appear very interested and suggests they screw him over. It’s probably a good thing for Hector that he decided to tail Lorraine to the meeting. At the same time, Danny and Ray meet with Gregory to go over all the fine details of their deal. Everything goes so well that they give him the other half a million to invest.
Later that day, the Colivatos are at home enjoying a nice evening of TV when a heated Helen shows up looking for Wendy. Before anyone realizes what’s going on Wendy is out the backdoor on Anthony’s (Maxim Swinton) bike.
While Hector tracks down Walt at home and requests a meeting, the Colavitos dinner is interrupted by a gunshot. It doesn’t take Danny long to track the short back to Nathan’s place where he learns Helen has shot and killed Nathan. She shoots herself after Danny leaves. Wendy doesn’t handle this well when she comes home to discover the murder/suicide.
The episode ends with Gregory leaving on a personal jet with what appears to be a huge bag of money.
Bookie Review
A pretty decent episode, although I could do without the Hector, Lorraine, and Walt fiasco. The mushroom angle is somewhat interesting but I’m finding that it just isn’t working here. It probably has more to do with Walt’s eccentric behavior than anything. I thought the murder/suicide angle in this episode was incredibly smart because murder/suicides are rampant these days. Every time I turn on the TV, I hear about a murder/suicide. All that aside, I found the rest of the episode decent and the new conflict with Gregory should add even more uniqueness to the series. I’d give this episode a 5.6 out of 10.
