Blindspot Season 1 Episode 4 Finale Recap

As the finale of Blindspot begins, Hannah Quinn (Beth Alsbury) learns that the CPS has decided not to press charges over the death of Mr. Dove. However, they’re still considering whether to prosecute her for her involvement in the murder of Max Carlton. Hannah insists she had nothing to do with that. DS Tony Warden (Ross Kemp) reminds her that she deleted the CCTV footage. Hannah says Max called and threatened her friend. Tony says Max was dead by that point so someone else made the call. Hannah gets upset and yells that Max deserved it.

Amber Bradfield (Crystal Clarke) arrives to make sure Hannah gets home without causing more chaos. Hannah accuses Tony of trying to bully her into helping him and using her like that poor sod he sent to his death in London. Tony asks her to meet him halfway and give him something to go on. Hannah says someone mentioned a girl named Ruby who may have worked with Max. As they prepare to leave, Hannah tells Amber to speak to her mom because she knows something about Zoe. Dolly visits Louisa to ask her to call off Geri. Louisa (Michelle Bonnard) complains that Dolly (Sue Vincent) told Hannah what she did. When Louisa refuses to help, Dolly tells her to remember this day because it is when her whole life started to fall apart.

Hannah receives a message saying someone has the CCTV backup footage and she can have it for 5,000 pounds. Amber returns home to ask her mom about Zoe. Louisa says there was a witness who saw what happened when Zoe was killed. It was Dolly Fletcher, but Louisa paid her not to make a statement. Max came to her office and told her about all the things that would come out about Amber if he went to court. Louisa warns her that she would’ve gone to prison and it wouldn’t have ended once she got out. She insists the scandal would’ve ended her political career. Amber says she is only the leader of the council so it isn’t like she has the nuclear codes. Louisa begins crying as she says it is important to her.

Amber tells Louisa that she doesn’t know what she has done. Dolly offers to serve Roy for free since she might be able to put his skills to use. Hannah tells Simon she knows he told the police where she was because he cares. Simon (Lewis Conway) knows she wants something. Hannah shows him the email and asks if they could have the CCTV footage. Simon claims it is a scam and she should stop obsessing over all this because it is just giving her misery. Hannah asks him to try to find out who sent the email. She pleads with him to do it because she is in big trouble. Tony approaches Chris and says Jim Dove gave up his entire operation before he died. Chris doesn’t believe him. Tony gets rough with Chris and asks for information about Max’s girls.

Tony offers to give him an hour to put his affairs in order before he brings him in. Chris admits he doesn’t know much about the girls because they came and went. He reveals that they used to look for marks at the café on Rose Lane. Once Chris says that is all he has, Tony has him arrested. Simon manages to get the IP address which is pointing to Louisa and Geri’s office. Amber uses her mom’s keys to let Hannah into her office. Hannah believes Geri is responsible since she can’t see Louisa doing something like this. They have to hide when someone tries to come inside. After they find a place to hide, someone comes inside and ransacks the office.

Hannah screams no when the computer hits the floor next to her. She remains hidden while Amber confronts the man and asks who he is. The man leaves when Amber says she called the police. Hannah has to flee without the video. Tony approaches Dolly to ask about Max’s girls. Dolly claims not to get caught up in Max’s business. Tony asks if the name Ruby means anything to her. Dolly says she was Max’s favorite, but she hasn’t seen them together for a while. She recommends asking Louisa Bradfield. Hannah and Amber talk about the man and whether the backup copy exists. Tony learns what happened at the office and says he’ll call Louisa since he knows her. Later, Geri is questioned about the coat they found since it looks like the one Max was wearing on the night he died.

It also has blood on it. Geri is told there is CCTV footage of Max approaching the location where his body was found. He was with a woman who matches her height and build. Geri denies having used the name Ruby in the past. She asks if they can access the electoral register from there. Hannah notices something when she looks at Louise’s campaign flyer. Hannah goes home and looks at the picture of the shirt. She notices that Amber is wearing that shirt. Tony finds something about Amber too. He visits Hannah to allege that Amber is Ruby and the woman on the CCTV footage. Hannah wants to speak to her first because she believes Amber will be honest with her. Hannah claims Amber was going to the college to pick up a book.

Once he leaves, Hannah calls Amber to tell her Tony is after her. She also tells her to ditch her phone. They meet moments later. Hannah needs Amber to tell her that she didn’t kill Max. She tells Amber about the top she was on the CCTV footage. Amber tries to downplay that evidence. She was supposed to go to a birthday piss-up that night, but Jules said she didn’t arrive until well after midnight. Amber claims she went to the hotel bar to hang out for a bit. Hannah admits she would’ve gotten away with it if she hadn’t seen Max on the CCTV. She goes through the evidence that convinces her Amber was with Max on the night in question. Hannah suggests she killed Max for Zoe.

Her top was torn in the struggle so she took Max’s coat to cover up. Hannah agrees he deserved to go into the sewer like the rat he was. Amber asks if she has heard herself. She claims she isn’t well. Tony meets Simon who shows him CCTV video of Hannah and Amber together. Hannah can’t believe Hannah sent her boyfriend to hurt her. Amber says she kept questioning what had happened and she got too close to the truth. Jim was only supposed to scare her off though. Amber found out that Max had killed Zoe and realized no one was going to do anything about it. She started hanging out with Jim because she knew she’d cross paths with Max sooner or later.

Amber believes Hannah is going to go to the police with this because she’ll never be able to let it go. Hannah is giving her the chance to do the right thing. Amber says she did the right thing when she killed Max. Simon reads her lips for Tony. Amber wants Hannah to come with her to the station so she doesn’t have to do this alone. Simon loses them on the camera feeds. Tony calls to get a trace on Hannah’s phone. Hannah realizes Amber isn’t taking her to the police station. She tells Amber that they got her confession because Simon can read lips. Tony follows their vehicle to the Aylesbury Quarry. Amber says she is not going to prison before speeding off a cliff.

The car catches on fire. As Amber tries to get out, Hannah pleads with her not to leave her. Amber pulls her through the window and sits down next to the car. Hannah climbs away from the vehicle. The car blows up and sends Amber to the ground. Tony arrives and comforts Hannah. Louisa is arrested. There is a funeral for Amber. Tony speaks to Hannah after the service. She believes she was selfish for what she did. Tony explains the CPS decided to charge Louisa. He is going to stay in the service to make amends for all the times he screwed up. Hannah goes to Dolly to see if the council is still going ahead. Once Dolly says yes, Hannah offers to take Wolf.

Blindspot Review

The finale of Blindspot was probably the strongest episode in the series even if the show wasn’t an award winner. At the very least, everything came together and there were enough twists to keep everything interesting. The performances certainly improved over the course of the season.

The duo of Beth Alsbury and Ross Kemp also got better in the last two episodes. Blindspot still had plenty of issues, but the series was easily watchable. If there is nothing else available, this will prove to be a good time killer.

Viewers should go into Blindspot with low expectations and a willingness to accept things for what they are. If they do, they may enjoy it. The finale scores a 6 out of 10. Every single one of the 15 or so characters is involved in a vast conspiracy to frame a chick in a wheelchair for a series of suspicious killings.

    Right.

    Fire the creator!

lol yeah. Not the most realistic show, but at least it got the criticism is deserved. That’s pretty rare nowadays so the network probably didn’t pay for good publicity.
