Blindspot Season 1 Episode 3 Recap

As this episode of Blindspot begins, DS Tony Warden (Ross Kemp) arrives at Dolly’s house where he finds the body. Simon Wardle (Lewis Conway) tells Hannah Quinn (Beth Alsbury) that she should go to the police. Hannah says no because she saw Tony meeting Max Carlton (Sean Cernow) in secret. Hannah reveals that she stole the phone of the man who attacked her. She thought it might have Max’s number or a way to contact him. When she checks the phone’s contacts, she finds that it is empty. Simon says she should stay away from the psycho. Hannah argues that Max is the one who can call this off.

She tells Simon she is going to need his help. Tony visits Louisa Bradfield (Michelle Bonnard) to tell her there has been a serious incident involving a local drug dealer. Although Hannah took off, they suspect she killed the man. Tony wants to bring her in for questioning. Louisa confirms that she knows Dolly. She says Dolly is a nasty piece of work because she likes stirring things up. When Amber (Crystal Clarke) returns, they ask her if she has seen Hannah. Meanwhile, Hannah tells Simon that he needs to keep the cops off of her while she tries to talk to Max. She sees the police on the camera feed and learns that Simon told them she was there.

Hannah pleads with Simon to buy her some time while she sorts out this mess, but he doesn’t want to be put in that position. Hannah manages to escape just before the cops arrive. Tony tries to get information from Amber. Once they’re alone, he asks Amber whether she enjoyed the film. Tony says it is important that she doesn’t tell anyone what she saw. Amber believes he is a bent cop, but Tony says it wasn’t what it looked like. Tony explains it was a man named Jim Dove and not Max. He goes on to say that Hannah killed Jim. Later, Amber calls Jim’s phone and says she just heard that Hannah killed him. Hannah is shocked to hear that. Amber says she can explain. She says Jim was the guy she was seeing.

Amber wants to meet so she can explain everything. Hannah eventually agrees to meet her. Amber gets upset when she finds out that her mother is more worried about the campaign than Hannah. Once Amber storms out, Geri tells Louisa that Dolly phoned the office earlier. Geri wants to know what is going on because she can’t protect Louisa otherwise. Louisa confesses to doing something stupid. Tony follows Amber when she leaves. Amber arrives at the Greenwood Community Hospital to meet Hannah. She says she didn’t want her mom to know about her relationship with Jim. Amber hopes her phone is off because they’ll be able to track it otherwise.

Amber knew Jim wasn’t a saint, but she didn’t think he’d try to hurt Hannah. She isn’t going to feel bad about killing him because he tried to kill her. Hannah believes Amber’s mom would’ve lost her crap if she knew she was with a dealer. Amber confesses that was part of the appeal. Hannah gets concerned when she sees Tony in the hospital. With Amber’s help, she tries to escape the hospital without being caught. Tony receives a call because Hannah turned her phone on and he waits for the tracking data. He calls Hannah to say they can sort this out. He offers to tell her something, but it has to stay between the two of them. Tony explains that the man in the cinema tried to pay him off.

He left the money for him at the station so Tony gave it back to him. Tony told him that he couldn’t be bought. He asks whether she killed the man because she thought he was Max. When Tony says he is one of the good guys, Hannah asks why he was demoted. He had an undercover officer embedded in a drugs operation in south London. One of the gang members became suspicious so the officer wanted to be taken off the investigation. Tony left him there because they need a little more evidence. He thought he’d be alright but he was wrong. Tony finds Hannah’s phone only to discover that she is already gone. He warns her that she’ll get herself killed if she goes after Max.

Tony says there is something she doesn’t know about the night Zoe was killed. There was a witness who saw what happened, but they refused to go on the record. Tony says it was Dolly Fletcher so they might be able to convince her to talk together. Hannah ends the conversation and leaves the hospital. She visits Dolly to question her about whether she saw Max kill Zoe. Hannah gets upset and threatens the dog to get Dolly to talk, but Dolly says you can’t squeal on someone like Max Carlton. Dolly claims she went to the police and a young WPC put her in a side room. Soon, she was being offered money to forget the whole thing. Dolly says it was her friend the councilor. Dolly doesn’t know why Louisa did that.

Hannah wants to know where to find Max before the police get there. Dolly insists she doesn’t know where he is these days. She tells her to go to the Red Lion and ask for Chris. He is one of Max’s suppliers so he should be able to contact him. Hannah goes looking for him immediately. Chris talks to her about Tony briefly before asking if she plays pool. Tony visits Dolly who says he just missed Hannah. Tony says DC Osborne said she refused to make a statement about what happened at her house tonight. Dolly complains that they wouldn’t let Wolf in the interview room. She eventually agrees to go with him in hopes of saving Hannah.

Hannah talks to Chris about Max and Zoe. Chris heard that Zoe got into trouble trying to help out a girl like Hannah. He tells Hannah that she has balls coming in there on her own. He says she sounds desperate and that is a terrible place to negotiate from. Chris likes a woman with a little fight in her because it makes things a little more exciting. He offers to give her Max’s number if she wins the game of pool. If she loses, she has to give Chris what he wants. As they play, Hannah says she wants Max’s number because she may have information he is interested in. When Hannah isn’t looking, Chris puts drugs in her drink. When Tony makes it to the station with Dolly, they see that Geri is there. Geri asks Dolly if she told Hannah about the money Louisa gave her. Dolly claims she had to.

In a few hours, Geri’s colleagues in the housing department will get to work. She will have a word with them about section 43c of Dolly’s tenancy agreement. Geri reminds Dolly that she isn’t allowed to have pets. She claims Dolly broke the deal so she didn’t give her a choice. Dolly threatens to tell them what Louisa did, but Geri will tell them her part in it. After Hannah wins, Chris says he is going to text Max so he can come there and meet her. He says she was dead the moment she rolled through the doors. Max skipped town for a year because of her. He didn’t finish her off like Zoe because he didn’t think it was worth it. When Hannah begins feeling high, Chris says it is something to help her relax.

He thought they could get to know each other while they wait for Max to reply. Chris soon learns that Hannah switched the drinks. Hannah grabs his phone and sends Max a text asking him to meet at the bins where the girl got killed. Tony goes to Simon to see if he can help him find Hannah. Hannah manages to hide from the cameras so Tony can’t figure out where she is going. He suspects Simon has switched to old footage so he forces him to return to the live feed. They see Hannah and she seems to be mouthing something, but Simon won’t tell Tony what she said. Simon claims she wants him to keep the cameras off of her while she goes to the community center. Tony goes to the bins and finds Hannah hiding there with a knife in her hand.

Tony insists he can’t let her kill Max. Hannah says she will tell Max not to come. When she calls him, they hear a phone ringing nearby. They find out that it is coming from a sewer hole under one of the bins. When they open the lid, they see a dead body. Once Tony sees the man’s tattoo, he says it is Max Carlton.

Blindspot Review

The third episode of Blindspot was slightly better than the first two although the series is pretty forgettable. The performances have seemed to improve to some degree or the issues have become less noticeable. The story is slightly more interesting now that the action has picked up a bit.

There are still many aspects of the story that are difficult to believe, but viewers who’ve made it this far have probably forgiven the show for that. Truthfully, Blindspot is entertaining enough to justify watching when it is available. However, it probably isn’t worth going out of the way to watch or to watch before higher-quality content.

The episode scores a 5.5 out of 10. Recaps of Blindspot are available on Reel Mockery here. Find out how to support our independent work at this link. Learn more about advertising on Reel Mockery here.
