beIN Sports And Comcast Battle Heads To FCC

This week, beIN Sports announced that it had decided to move forward with additional legal action against Comcast through the Federal Communications Commission regarding Comcast’s unwillingness to negotiate concerning the restoration of beIN to the Comcast platform. The beIN Sports channel was removed from Comcast and Xfinity platforms on July 31, 2018 resulting in millions of subscribers being unable to access premium soccer, motorsports and tennis content.

beIN Sports’ Deputy Managing Director for the United States and Canada, Antonio Briceno, admitted that the company was “extremely disappointed that after over a year spent attempting good-faith negotiations with Comcast, they have ignored customer demand, refused to negotiate and continued their practice of discriminating against beIN and other independent networks in favor of their own affiliated networks”.

The new FCC filing adds to the ongoing FCC complaint filed by beIN against Comcast on December 13, 2018. The full press release can be found here.
