As the episode begins, Prince Akbar and the Empress discuss John Beecham’s situation. The Prince believes that they should speak with the Emperor and clear John’s name. The Empress is worried that the Empress will banish his son if he finds out the truth. Meanwhile, Margaret (Dakota Blue Richards) and Daniel (Leo Suter) speak about Samuel Parker (Marc Warren). Margaret hopes that the Empress will listen to her and help an innocent man. She meets with the Empress a short time later. During the conversation, we learn that Margaret respects John and is in love with him. General Castillion (Gregory Fitoussi) visits the cell so he can speak with John once again.

John asks the general how he knew he had the diamond and how he got the details of the delivery of the automaton. The general does not give an answer but he does allow John to see Samuel. Samuel enters and tries to convince John that he can convince Castillion to set him free. The only problem is that John may have to do something he doesn’t like in return. John learns that opposition MPs have gathered evidence against the company and Samuel wants John to testify. Back at home, Henrietta (Lesley Nicol) joins the servants for a prayer for John. Ram Lal (Amer Chadha-Patel) tells Daniel that they need to get Chanchal (Shriya Pilgaonkar) back. Baadal (Viveik Kalra) doesn’t want her to return just yet.

They follow Baadal back to his place and confront Chanchal. Margaret watches as Chandrika and the Maharaja of Kalyan (Denzil Smith) approach the palace. She rushes up and tells Chandrika that the Prince was involved in the theft of the diamond. Before too long, Chandrika and her father speak with the Emperor and Prince in private. The truth about the Prince is revealed and it appears that the Emperor (Roshan Seth) is willing to let his son take over. John receives another visit from Samuel Parker who tells him that Castillion has agreed. John says that Samuel wasn’t good enough as a salesman. He explains that he could not force him to testify.

He also accuses Samuel of telling Castillion about the diamond. Samuel admits he waited on Henrietta to arrive for two years and has been planning this all along. Castillion arrives and confirms that Samuel is the betrayer. He prepares to release John. Samuel grabs his knife and stabs Castillion a few times before pulling a gun and trying to lead John out of the cell. A scuffle ensues and Samuel manages to escape when the guards enter. Back at home, Henrietta sits with Chanchal. Moments later, Chanchal makes a comment about returning home. Baadal says that she cannot. He wishes that she would look at him as a husband so she would not have to suffer alone. John is taken to the palace so he can speak with the Prince.

He learns that the Price is going to be taking over and they want him to sell the diamond. Next, the servants are excited when they see John ride through the door on a horse. John’s family is happy to see that he has returned. John begins asking about Margaret before Chandrika enters and tells him that Margaret played a brave role in his release. Later that night, John meets up with Margaret. They end up sharing a kiss. In the morning, Violet (Bessie Carter) is upset that she has been betrayed by Samuel. Daniel tells her that he will find her a good man. Chandrika’s father pays a visit and tries to convince John to marry his daughter. John tells him that he cannot since he is in love with Margaret. The Maharaja gives John his blessings.

Later that night, the Maharaja calls the house Beecham House before leaving and taking his daughter with him. General Castillion has survived and he ends up spending the night with his lover. He believes that she might be interested in sleeping with John Beecham though. Later, Daniel speaks with Chanchal about her decision to return home. He believes that she wants to punish him. She says that she will raise the child on her own if he doesn’t do the honorable thing and marry her. John manages to find a seller for the royal diamond. Henrietta’s attitude has changed. She makes sure that Chanchal doesn’t do any hefty lifting.

Daniel agrees to become a partner in John’s business. He is told that he can take over the following day since John wants to take Margaret on a trip. John takes Margaret to see the Taj Mahal. When they leave, Samuel watches their carriage roll away. They find out that Beecham House has been attacked by people dressed as servants. Ram Lal is injured and someone has stolen the baby.

 

Beecham House Review

Sadly, Beecham House had a lot of flaws. The series has been fairly entertaining but it was bogged down in the beginning. The biggest problems were John’s mother, his multiple love interests, and John’s mysterious past. I think the show could’ve been a lot better if we’d skipped all of these side stories and focused solely on the main storyline. Still, I thought the show has the potential to be good.

The finale was great until the last five minutes or so. They should have never put the kidnapping in there since I suspect that we’re not going to see another season. The show wasn’t perfect at all but it was better than some of the other stuff I’ve seen lately. The finale scores a 7 out of 10. It would’ve been higher if they hadn’t tried setting up a second season. Catch up with previous recaps of Beecham House before you leave!
