This week, BBC released the first pictures of the upcoming real-time thriller Nightsleeper. The series is about the hacking of a sleeper train on its way to London and a government agency’s desperate attempts to intervene. Two people who’ve never met will have to work together to save the lives of the passengers and others. One potential savior is onboard while the other is not. Alexandra Roach and Joe Cole will be leading the cast of the thriller which was written by BAFTA-winner Nick Leather from Fremantle’s Euston Films.
The six-part drama Nightsleeper is coming to BBC One and the BBC iPlayer in early 2024, according to a BBC press release. Alexandra Roach stars as Abby Aysgarth. The Acting Technical Director at the National Cyber Security Centre is on the verge of taking a well-earned holiday, but her vacation will be delayed when she receives a life-changing call and learns that the railway is under attack.
She will have to work with Joe Roag (Joe Cole), an off-duty cop who just happens to be on board. The duo will work together over the next six gripping hours to try to stop the Heart of Britain from reaching the end of the line and ending the lives of countless innocent bystanders. Joe Cole and Abby Aysgarth are joined by Alex Ferns, Sharon Small, James Cosmo, David Threlfall, Daniel Cahill, Lois Chimimba, Gabriel Howell, Katie Leung, Leah MacRae, Ruth Madeley, Adam Mitchell, Pamela Nomvete, Scott Reid, Sharon Rooney, and Parth Thakerar.
The series consists of six 60-minute episodes and is directed by Jamie Magnus Stone. Nightsleeper is written by Nick Leather and Laura Grace.
