Aussies have an interesting new television series to look forward to. Although very little information seems to be known about The Principal, some bits of information are out there. The series is created by Essential Media, which is responsible for Jack Irish and Rake. I tremendously enjoyed Rake and thought Jack Irish was okay. The series is expected to begin airing in October of 2015. Unfortunately, the series only appears to be 4 episode.
So, whats it about? Well, the series stars Alex Dimitriades, who is likely best known for The Slap and Underbelly. Alex plays Matt Bashir, who is a history teacher. He is quickly promoted to the Principal of the Boxdale Boys High School, which is based in the crime ridden southwest Sydney. Matt seems to take extreme approaches, in order to turn around the school and bring the community into his favor.
A collection of other stars make an appearance, including Mirrah Foulkes (Secrets & Lies, Top of the Lake), Robert Mammone (Underbelly, Fat Tony & Co), and Aden Young (The Code, Rectify). It seems that things turn bad for Matt Bashir, after a 17-year old student is discovered deceased on school grounds. The plot definitely catches my attention and could be worth watching. From the trailer, it appears that Alex and Aden Young will be co-workers at the school. It also seems that Matt’s actions are the school wind up following him home and giving him nightmares.
If you’re interested in more information, you can find The Principal’s Trailer here. With the combination of actors, exciting trailer and potentially juicy plot, I cannot wait to check it out!
