Max defends him and asks why they’re painting him as a traitor. He complains about the emphasis they’ve placed on Ajeet’s race and origins. Max pleads with the judge to release Ajeet on house arrest pending trial. Vince asks Sabrina about things with her dad, but she admits there is no news to share. They respond to an armed suspect in a target-rich environment. Kara Degas (Crystal Balint) joins Bolton who is busy coordinating the response to the gunman. At the scene, Doug Gabinski (Toby Levins) tells Vince that a student called it in. She heard two males arguing but only saw one. Gillian finds a floor plan for Surrey Central Library. Sabrina is told they’re going to clear the scene zone by zone.

Vince and Sabrina eventually encounter the suspect who has a handgun. The suspect ends up taking a hostage and putting a gun to her head. Sabrina follows them to the west exit. The police end up letting the suspect leave in a car with the hostage. Before long, the vehicle crashes but the suspect escapes with the hostage. Sabrina questions a guy who was supposedly in an argument with the suspect but he denies it. She gives Eddie Lin (Steven Huy) her card in case anything comes up. As he leaves, a girl yells at him and mentions his shoes. Next, Luke shows Sabrina and Vince the suspect’s 3rd-print handgun. Luke tells Sabrina he’ll let her know when they catch the bad guy. Gillian talks about the firearm and possibly tracking its origins.

She tells Sabrina and Vince that the design is called Swift Fire. A guy calling himself Sentinel is selling gun designs on Tor. He’s selling information so they can’t shut him down, but printing the weapon is a crime. Gillian manages to determine what type of printer was used to print the gun. At the library, they’re told anyone with a Surrey library card can use the printer in question. The man in charge agrees to give them a list of everyone who knows how to operate the printer. When they check the list, they don’t see the gunman on it. They suspect someone else printed the gun for him. They begin interviewing the people on the list including Eddie. He is asked about reserving the printer for overnight printing last night.

He claims he was printing trees. Sabrina notices he is wearing expensive shoes. He claims his mom bought them for him. Then, Sabrina begins asking him about the tree. She suspects he is lying so she tries to get him to speak to her. Eddie explains that Junior (Hudson Williams) and someone told him he knows how to 3rd print. Eddie’s mom, Audrey (Natalie Skye), arrives moments later. Sabrina tells her it looks like Eddie was involved in a transaction with a gang member under duress. Max calls to tell Sabrina he got her dad released on house arrest, but Ajeet is refusing to come home. He urges Sabrina to try to find her dad’s mind. Luke calls to say they caught the suspect. He asks for a TO because Gabby has to be in court.

At the station, Junior tells Sabrina and Luke that Eddie offered him a gun for 3,000. They ended up fighting because Junior was just going to take the gun. Audrey calls to say someone made a maximum withdrawal from her bank account and Eddie is gone. Eddie is busy texting someone. He tells them he needs more time. Audrey explains it has been difficult on Eddie ever since the pandemic. She talks about how she had to work two jobs to pay for his shoes. Eddie tries to get money from an ATM. The extortionist tells him he needs the money today or his family will get a surprise in their DMs. When Sabrina and Vince reach the ATM, they see Eddie on top of a building nearby.

Vince puts her in charge of trying to talk him down. Sabrina finds his phone and the messages before trying to convince Eddie to think about his mom. She keeps him distracted until Vince can grab him and pull him down. Eddie says everyone is going to see because they’re threatening to release the pictures at five. At the station, Vince and Sabrina explain they’re trying to find out who the sextorter is. They tell Eddie how people prey on lonely men. Eddie mentions that the girl talked about minis. That reminds Vince of the girl he spoke to earlier. When Vince brings the girl in, she asks him to stop the guy who is doing this to her. She says she got too tight with a guy in a Questers forum and he threatened to release her pictures.

Gillian manages to use Kit’s laptop to contact her handler. Kit tells Vince she thought Eddie could afford it based on his shoes. Gillian learns the sextorter wants Bitcoin and may have his money on an exchange. Later, she says they cut off his funding but they can’t identify him. Gillian believes the photos will be released. They tell the kids they want to send their photos to Interpol specialists. They encrypt compromising photos and use them to see if anyone shares them. Eddie walks past Kit when he leaves with his mother. Vince and Sabrina talk about kids and the pandemic. Sabrina leaves to see her dad. Ajeet tells her he can’t come home because of the principle. Sabrina urges him to change his mind. Later, she tells Gillian she still wants to go out tonight.

As they party, Ishaan texts Sabrina asking her to call.

Allegiance Review

This episode of Allegiance had a slightly stronger case although it had more problems in other areas. In particular, the police force is starting to appear more and more shallow with each episode. In the other episodes, they at least had others working on the same cases. In this one, the only ones primarily involved were Gillian, Sabrina, and Vince. That made the episode feel low-budget considering how empty the police station often is. Not to mention, the police just let the hostage taker escape with the hostage and steal a car.

I am not sure the episode even clarified what happened to Junior or the hostage for that matter. Ajeet’s story is a miss that could’ve been left out for a better series. After all, it isn’t easy to sympathize with a wealthy politician. Another thing is the crazy dynamics of the school. That was a lot going on at the school, yet nothing really came of it. On the other hand, the episode was at least trying to tackle an important topic.

It’s just a shame that they didn’t expand on this topic more. The episode scores a 5.5 out of 10. Recaps of Allegiance can be found on Reel Mockery here.
