Acorn TV and AMC subscribers will soon have access to a new crime drama, “Monsieur Spade,” starring Clive Owen (The Knick, Chancer, A Murder at the End of the World). Owen, who also co-executive produces the series, portrays hard-nosed PI Sam Space.
Scott Frank is the co-executive producer and co-creator of the six-part crime drama. The series is adapted from “The Maltese Falcon” novel by Dashiell Hammett. The 1930s novel was adapted into a 1941 film of the same name. In the film, Humphrey Bogart played Sam Spade, alongside Peter Lorre (Joel Cairo), Sydney Greenstreet (Kasper Gutman), Mary Astor (Ruth Wonderly), Gladys George (Iva Archer), Lee Patrick (Effie Perine), and Barton MacLane (Lieutenant Dundy).
Monsieur Spade, directed by Scott Frank, is scheduled to debut on Acorn TV, AMC, and AMC+ on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
