As the 3rd episode begins, Mother (Lauren Birdsall) begins researching her daughter’s condition. She hears a gunshot outside. When she looks back at Madison, the girl is gone. The mercenaries hold the townsfolk hostage, while the deceased man is removed. The boss tells Russell (Pete Walters) that he has been allowed to live on the land, yet he is only giving scraps in return. The boss puts his gun to Russell’s head. Seconds later, Madison arrives. Mother joins her. Russell pleads with the boss to leave his family out of it.
Hiroshi (Nobuaki Shimamoto) tries to fight back, but he is quickly disarmed. Russell is held at gunpoint. The boss speaks with Madison and mother. The boss tries to take mother for himself. Madison is surrounded by mercenaries. She uses her powers to knock them to the ground, before escaping with mother. The mercenaries quickly give chase. The remaining townsfolk try to make a run for it, but they’re almost instantly gunned down. Russell and Hiroshi manage to fight off their captors and free themselves. Mother and Madison continue running.
The mercenaries stop briefly to put on gas masks. Mother only has a single gas mask. Madison explains that she doesn’t need it. She forces her mother to wear it. Mother tells Madison to remember how to be silent. Then, she runs for it alone. Madison stays hidden behind a tree, as the mercenaries chase after mother. Moments later, Hiroshi and Russell find Madison in her hiding spot. Russell recalls his conversation with mother.
He remembers mother telling him that he is responsible for teaching Madison how to use her powers. We jump back to the present. We see that Madison has been out hunting. She spots a sentinel. It seems to be dead or unconscious. Madison approaches as Russell yells for her in the distance. The sentinel rises and punches Madison across the face, as the episode comes to an end.
Abandoned Review
I’ll admit that I am not a big fan of the science fiction or action, but Abandoned keeps me interested from start to finish. The series has the perfect blend of action and mystery. Each episode has slowly unraveled the mystery of how Madison came to be with Hiroshi and Russell. I am engrossed and eager to find out what happened in the past and what happens in the future. I’ve enjoyed the series so far.
The acting is surprisingly good and the special effects are impressive. What can I say? I like it. The episode scores a solid 8 out 10. Catch up with previous recaps of Abandoned right now! All episodes can be found here. Be sure to check them out for yourself!
