DNA – As the seventh episode of The Madness begins, Muncie Daniels (Colman Domingo) receives a call from Agent Khalil who tells him about Franco (John Ortiz). Muncie visits Elena Powell (Marsha Stephanie Blake) who comforts him. In the morning, Muncie wakes up next to Elena. He watches a video of Rodney Kraintz (Neal Huff) speaking. Elena joins him and they talk about Rodney who is the majority investor in Revitalize. Elena reveals that Demetrius got into a fight yesterday. Demetrius might tell Muncie about it if he takes him for donuts. Noah (Wilfred Lee) messages Muncie to say he has something to tell him. He wants to meet in person. Muncie tells him they’ll meet later. Julia Jayne (Alison Wright) has killed Noah and she’s trying to lure Muncie to death. It appears she managed to get Demetrius’s address.
Muncie takes Demetrius (Thaddeus J. Mixson) to The Donut Stop and learns more about the fight. They talk about Muncie sticking around instead of leaving. Muncie sends him into the shop to get their usual order. Elena speaks to Julia who is in her house. Julia says she’s going to wait for Muncie to come back. Elena doesn’t want to tell her anything about Muncie or Demetrius. Julia just wants to know where Muncie is. Elena suggests she should go and find Muncie before the FBI catches up with her. Julia says she’ll be around. Elena calls Muncie to tell him about Julia. Outside, Julia listens to their conversation and learns where Muncie is at. Demetrius drives and Muncie hides in the back. Julia rushes to catch up with them. Before long, Muncie warns Demetrius that Julia is right behind them. Before long, Demetrius hits Julia’s vehicle in the side and flees. Demetrius and Muncie speak to Elena on the phone and agree to meet. Demetrius believes Polo (Ashton James) can help them get a car.
They meet Polo. Muncie tries to find out more about Polo’s relationship with Demetrius. He tells them about the joints Demetrius left him. Before long, Polo gives them a car and a baseball bat for self-defense. They meet Elena who says Isiah (Stephen McKinley Henderson) has some food in the kitchen. Kallie (Gabrielle Graham) joins them a few minutes later. Isiah may be able to get them out of the country or at least a couple of states away. Muncie says he’s done running. Julia tries to clean the wound on her head. She also looks through last-minute flights. Julia calls Rodney to say they need to bring in other options because there is too much heat. Rodney refuses and instead gives her two hours to resolve the problem. Muncie discusses his plan with Isiah and the others. Isiah claims Muncie is being selfish. He thinks he’s doing the same thing his father did.
Muncie says his father tried to fix the system from the outside and it broke him. He’s been trying to work it from within using the platform he has. Elena asks what they’re going to do. She goes on to say they’ll figure something out. Demetrius doesn’t think his dad should do this. A man comes in to say they have some cops out front. Isiah says they need to go if they’re going to go. Kallie decides to go with them. Muncie asks Isiah for the gun back. He leaves with Kallie moments later. Once they’re gone, Isiah speaks to Office Sturm and the others. They tell him they’re looking for Muncie Daniels. The officers begin searching the property for Muncie. They speak to Elena and Demetrius. Elena tells Demetrius not to speak to the police. Once Isiah returns, Elena says Officer Davidson (Shanice Banton) needs to be reported. Muncie tells Kallie that he believes Julia has Noah’s phone. After all, Noah said there wasn’t a smoking gun. They talk about Muncie being a father.
Noah’s phone contacts Muncie claiming to have the smoking gun. Muncie and Kallie agree that it’s on. Muncie confronts Julia with a gun and tells her to get out of the car. She takes her bag and her gun before they go into Chili’s. Once they get a seat inside, Muncie tells Julia he’s there with a deal. He warns her that Rodney will throw her under the bus. Barry (Gordon Harper) takes their order. Muncie tries to convince Julia to cooperate. He says they can go to the FBI together and he’ll say she shot Agent Quinones in self-defense. She will explain to them that Don Sloss killed Simon, Jennings, Stu, and anyone else. Muncie says Julia can tell them that Don kept killing for Rodney Kraintz and she tried to stop it. She will turn state’s witness and exonerate Muncie. Julia says he has no idea what makes her tick. She explains it is integrity that makes her tick.
Julia believes he’s lost sight of it. She thinks Rodney is saving the planet. Muncie learns about her career before she teamed up with Rodney. Julia warns Muncie that he’s next. He tells her that she’ll think about it before leaving with Kallie. Julia goes outside where she finds her tire has been slashed. Muncie learns that Kallie stole Julia’s laptop. Muncie calls Khalil to tell her about it. He also has a voice recording of Julia working for Rodney Kraintz. A police car drives by and concerns them. Julia speaks to Rodney and insists they’re close. She says she needs to force a location from Muncie’s kid and it’ll be done. She needs time and a guarantee. Rodney gives her 30 minutes. Isiah tells Burt he needs him out back and Clarence out front. Julia sees Burt sitting outside alone. She has a gun with a silencer on it.
The Madness Review
The seventh episode of The Madness just spun an even bigger web as the show slowly limps toward the finish line. In this episode, it felt like Muncie had forgotten about his wanted status since he was so careless with his time. He’s out getting donuts and doing whatever without any concern whatsoever.
He’s in a Chili’s with an assassin even though there are risks that he could be spotted at some point. This makes less sense when we remember the fact that Muncie was a political pundit who appeared on CNN and nearly had his own show. The Chili’s where this was shot is near 34 Greenford Drive in Hamilton, Ontario. The Red Rockets and other stores can be seen as Muncie and Kallie drive away.
Furthermore, The Donuts Stop is also in Hamilton. That store is at 617 Parkdale Avenue North. That’s necessary to point out considering a commenter pretended this was actually filmed in the United States. As for the series, it is really trying too hard to be sophisticated and intelligent. A lot of viewers will agree that it’ll just be nice to see the whole over.
It’s impossible to care about any of these characters so it’ll feel good to see the credits at the end of the finale. There is probably a 5% chance that the finale will make the series worthwhile. This episode scores a 5 out of 10. Recaps of The Madness can be found here. Find out how to support our independent site at this link.
