Sweetpea Review

The finale of Sweetpea was pretty lackluster considering it was an attempt to secure another season just like so many other shows. It also made Rhiannon even less likable. One issue with the finale is the fact that the police somehow linked the knife to the other crimes. Although it’s possible, it’s highly unlikely. After all, even ballistics evidence is often considered unreliable.

It’s also odd that AJ didn’t remember the knife until after sleeping with Rhiannon. If he remembered it then, he would’ve remembered it when his police contact first sent it to him. Rhiannon’s behavior remained odd throughout. When she found out that her bank card had been used, she handled it dumbly. Surely, she would’ve realized that Julia was fleeing.

There are many little stupid bits scattered throughout the series, but they become more noticeable in the last two episodes. Another issue here is the soundtrack and sound effects. The music is bad enough, but the sound effects are over-the-top. This is really in the same line as Pretty Little Liars.

It strives to be a hip series for specific people who enjoy watching men being slaughtered. There is nothing else here because Rhiannon and Julia are equally unlikable. The series really could’ve been so much more, but it’s let down by a flimsy script and weak characters. The finale scores a 4 out of 10.
