Levi asks about Jo and learns she’s still around. Once Abe finds what he’s looking for, he leaves. Ty tells Freya that she really doesn’t need training. Freya arrives for the shoot for Gym Asylum. Will tells her that she’s going to be shooting a golf scene. Freya tells Olyvya (Hanako Footman) and Olivia (Emma Sidi) that she wants to talk about golf. They refuse to change their minds though. Will (Moe Bar-El) says everyone can play golf in their clothes and that’s the point. Will reports back that she hasn’t shaved her legs. Susan and Jo continue arguing during class.

Abe makes it to the restaurant and sits with Brian (Tim Key). Brian knows all about Abe and his past visits. Abe shows him the picture before saying he still comes with his boy every year. Abe tells Brian what they’d do during the bankruptcy proceedings. Brian believes they’re going under because they’re consistent and people don’t want consistency. He says he doesn’t want his movements tracked so he doesn’t go to America. He also mentions how the local demographics have changed. Jo shows Freya her certificate. Jo received a call from an unknown number before the shooting begins. Brian talks about Brexit being a godsend for them.

We Might Regret This Review

It’s hard to know exactly where this episode was going considering how it played out. Based on the synopsis, one would think this would be more about Abe, Freya, and their relationship, but this episode barely touched on that as they went in ludicrously different directions.

As previously mentioned, there are important issues to be covered here. Yet, the series isn’t covering them authentically and instead tries to use humor to downplay the seriousness of everything. The series has consistently taken digs at certain individuals with different beliefs and that was evident here with the Brian character.

That may work well if there was an ounce of authentic humor in those scenes but they’ve missed the target. Not to mention, these silly scenes add nothing to the overall story. It’s hard to know exactly where this is going, but it seems to be floating in outer space with no direction. A legitimate comedy romance with more emphasis on Freya’s unique struggles could’ve been so much more effective.

Instead, we’re getting repetitive pee jokes, worn-out bigot jokes, and so on. It doesn’t even begin to skim the surface of the possibilities. The episode scores a 4.5 out of 10.
