Sullivan’s Crossing Series 2 Episode 8 Recap

Truth and Consequences – The episode opens with Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan) supporting Sedona Jones’s (Meghan Ory) head while she has a seizure. After the seizure, Sedona refuses to go to the hospital. A short time later, Cal Jones (Chad Michael Murray) insists Sedona stay at his place. She claims to have pseudo-seizures brought on by stress before going for a walk by herself.

Harry “Sully” Sullivan (Scott Patterson) and Phoebe Lancaster (Lynda Boyd) find Maggie’s large helping of waffles and syrup funny. Phoebe claims to have craved shrimp when she was pregnant with Maggie. Sully recalls she constantly wanted shrimp cocktail. They suggest redoing Maggie’s room to make it more comfortable for her and the baby. Maggie approves.

Edna Cranebear (Andrea Menard) has been giving Frank Cranebear (Tom Jackson) the cold shoulder since he refused to talk to his cousin. He is still upset over his mother’s regalia. She argues that his cousin is innocent in the matter. He declines to discuss it.

In New York, Sydney Shandon (Lindura) meets Miranda (Oshhien Burrell) at her first photo shoot. At The Crossing, Sully calls Lola Gunderson (Amalia Williamson) to invite her over for coffee. She tells him that she enrolled in classes for the next semester. They plan to get together tonight.

Maggie finds Sedona hysterical about bugs crawling on her skin. She tries to calm her down. Elsewhere, Phoebe and Sully arrive home with a crib and other baby accessories. He says the baby is their opportunity for a fresh start. She likes the idea.

Maggie suggests Sedona was hallucinating after the seizure. He says she claims to have pseudo-seizures. She explains that psychogenic non-epileptic seizures are believed to be a link between childhood abuse and mental illness. He says their father had schizophrenia but he refused treatment. She reassures him that mental illness can be controlled with medication. He refuses to take the risk of passing the disorder on to his children.

Rob Shandon (Reid Price) walks Finn Shandon (Zayn Maloney) to his baseball game when he sees Jane (Cindy Sampson) he sends Finn to the concession stand. Jane assures him that it isn’t necessary for him to talk to her. He apologizes and confesses to liking her a lot but suggests they take it slow. She agrees.

In New York, Sydney struggles to get reacquainted with the camera. The photographer (Felipe Aukai) sighs and looks at his watch. Her second attempt is a success. David (Jeremy Walmsley) says something to Miranda to make her feel differently toward Sydney.

Sedona tells Cal that she doesn’t want Chris to know about the hallucinations. He says it may not be schizophrenia when Maggie arrives. He convinces her to let Maggie examine her. Maggie believes Sedona has some type of brain inflammation or infection. Cal insists she undergoes more medical tests. Sedona promises to tell Chris everything.

In New York, Sydney asks David what he said to Miranda. He claims to have been heartbroken when she left him. She accuses him of convincing everyone that she was crazy and ruining her career. He confirms her allegation is true and warns her that no one will believe her. At The Crossing, Sully attributes Maggie’s success to Phoebe. They kiss and claim to have missed each other. Back in New York, Sydney confronts David in front of Harvey before playing a recording from his previous confession. Harvey vows to make sure he never works in the New York modeling industry again.

Maggie informs Sully and Phoebe that Sedona is going home for more medical tests. Walter (Peter Outerbridge) arrives unexpectedly and refuses to leave without Phoebe. Sully scolds him for coming into his house after what he did to Maggie. Phoebe suggests they let him talk. Walter attributes everything to the stock market crash. Maggie asks if he put her practice and reputation at risk for money. He admits to borrowing money and when he couldn’t repay it, the lender threatened to harm her. He apologizes to Sully for driving a wedge between him and Maggie. Sully says it is too late. Maggie walks away. Elsewhere, Sedona and Cal agree to stay in touch.

Maggie says Walter expects them to forgive him. Sully assures her that Walter is desperate. She asks if he is defending him. Sully says he just knows what Walter is going through because he made a mistake that cost his family. She questions if she will ever find it in herself to forgive Walter. Elsewhere, Walter tells Phoebe that he knew she would never love him like she loved Sully. She asks if that is why she kept her away from The Crossing. He pleads with her to not leave him because he needs her.

Sedona knows Cal is in love with Maggie. He questions why he believes he would be a bad father because he was always there for them when they were children. He says someone told him that every story doesn’t have a happy ending.

Phoebe is leaving with Walter. Maggie asks how she can forgive him. Phoebe says when she made mistakes, Maggie always forgave her. Sully hugs Phoebe and says she is always welcome there. Phoebe leaves a gift for Edna. Elsewhere, Cal calls his mother but gets the voicemail.

Maggie and Sully are missing Phoebe. He believes she would have never been happy at The Crossing. He will always love her for giving him Maggie. He shows Maggie a tree of her photos growing up in her newly decorated room. Weepy, she says it is beautiful and embraces Sully. A short time later, Maggie informs Edna that Phoebe left with Walter. Phoebe gifted Edna a phone for them to stay in touch.

Sully tells Lola that on the day of her accident, Phoebe and Maggie left him. He admits to hitting her. She asks how he could do that to her and says she doesn’t want to see him again. The episode ends.

 

Sullivan’s Crossing Review

Walter convinces Phoebe to give him another chance. Maggie refuses to forgive him for what he did to her. Knowing Phoebe would never be happy at The Crossing, Sully respects her decision. Phoebe gives Edna a phone, so they can stay in touch.

Maggie believes Sedona has some type of brain infection. Sedona left Chris and her children because she thought her symptoms were related to schizophrenia like her father. Fearing schizophrenia may be hereditary, Cal wouldn’t risk having children. She agrees to undergo more tests to determine the root cause of her condition.

Sydney first photo shoot is a success. David is still scorned because she left him. She records his threats and plays the recording to Harvey who fires him. Sully tells Lola that he hit her. Devastated, she doesn’t want anything else to do with him.
