Davey & Jonesie’s Locker Series 1 Finale Episode 10 Recap

There’s No Place Like Homeostasis – As the finale of Davey & Jonesie’s Locker begins, Andy (James Hartnett) tells Cheryl (Emily Piggford) she shouldn’t worry about Karl taking so long. He doubts it has anything to do with the deliberation of her case. Andy claims he was worried about her as a friend and that’s why he reported her. Karl finally comes out and says management has decided to remove Cheryl from Case 6689. The case will be given to Andy. Karl has recommended Cheryl undergo a full psych evaluation followed by a mandatory leave of absence. She’ll need to close another 100,000 cases for the juvenile department before she can reapply to the Elite Squad. In Universe 505, Davey (Veronika Slowikowska) and Jonesie (Jaelynn Thora Brooks) prepare to return to the mess they made.

Schneider (Dan Beirne) takes their DNA so they can go through the portal together. He warns them that the structural integrity of 6689 is fragile. They try to stall and delay returning to their original universe. Schneider tells them what happened after they entered the portal the first time and how he managed to avoid Cheryl. He learns that Cheryl is obsessed with them and knows that the other Schneiders are involved. He refuses to tell them what happened between himself and Cheryl. While they go through the portal, Cheryl overrides code Mason 9716. She puts the picture on the desk and retrieves her gun. She shoots the picture and other items. Cheryl says there will be no more games. Schneider and the others exit the portal.

Davey and Jonesie see Emile, Sierra, and the others frozen in time. Schneider asks if this looks normal to them. Since he is performing a manual override, every detail needs to be exact. They worry about the mascot heads, but don’t say anything about them to Schneider. Once the world is unfrozen, Sierra (Erika Swayze) and the mob ask them about the mascot heads. Davey and Jonesie open a locker and it looks like a spider tries to come out. Then, oranges begin rolling down the stairs nearby. The Gumdrop Express and an alligator shows up too. Cheryl watches as the number of anomalies quickly climbs higher and higher. Schneider believes other universes are blending into this one. Cheryl arrives. She isn’t going to send them to detention because she’s got somewhere more permanent in mind.

A distraction allows Schneider, Davey, and Jonesie to flee to the lab. Schneider asks if they know what happened to the heads. They argue about their friends. Davey asks about the thing Cheryl uses to zap things out of existence. Schneider admits he and Cheryl weren’t just colleagues at MOM. They were best friend and it was like them against the world. He built the detainer Cheryl has as part of his research into Dimension X. It would’ve changed everything, but MOM was too shortsighted to see it. Cheryl sold him out. They believe there is something he isn’t telling them. He tells them he fixed the remote to suck out all the anomalies. Schneider will handle Cheryl. Once they make it past Cheryl, Schneider yells at them to find their friends and get the anomaly. Andy finds out about all the anomalies. Davey and Jonesie tell Sierra and the others what is going on.

Davey admits they screwed up and shouldn’t have ruined the dance. Jonesie apologizes and asks for their help. Sierra asks how they’re supposed to move the anomalies to the locker. Davey and Jonesie tell them about the other versions of themselves. Before long, everyone agrees to help. They go through the hallways looking for the anomalies. Abbott (Kevin Osea) deals with the principal while Mark (Parker Lauzon) takes care of the enormous spider. Schneider asks Cheryl if they can talk about this while she tries to shoot him. She accuses him of modifying her detainer without her consent causing her to send a wanted rogue asset to Dimension X. In a flashback, Schneider is thrilled it works. Cheryl believes he used her for his research. As the guards take Schneider out, he tells them to ask Cheryl where Amelia Earhart is.

In the present, Schneider admits he just wanted Cheryl to notice him. Once she joined the Elite Squad, she left him and he was still a crackpot. If he could help her, he thought they could take MOM by storm and run it together like they always talked about. Cheryl knows he isn’t crazy but he had just betrayed her. Schneider thought she betrayed him by reporting him to MOM. Andy shoots Cheryl before he is told to find the two delinquents. Davey and Jonesie use the remote to get rid of the anomalies. Once they’ve finished, they look around to see if they were successful. Schneider is unable to free Cheryl so he promises to come back for her. Andy is nearby. Schneider finds the kids celebrating. He tells them to go find the missing mascot heads. 6689 will keep degrading unless the missing matter is returned.

As soon as Davey and Jonesie go into the portal, the others are going to refreeze and reset so they won’t remember any of this. Davey and Jonesie speak to the others and explain they have to go away for a bit. Emile insists they’ll forgive them. Schneider tells them to get the mascot heads and come straight back. They go through the portal. While Schneider waits for them to return, Andy approaches him to ask what happened there. Schneider tells him how he built the portal and how they’ve been helping Davey and Jonesie ever since. He says they’ll take responsibility for everything. Andy tells him not to worry because none of this is happening. He is surprised all the stories Cheryl told are true. When Andy grabs a detainer, Schneider realizes it was him all along.

Schneider worries about what he’s done to Cheryl before he gets shot. Andy puts some device on the locker. He returns to Cheryl only to realize she is already gone. Andy hits himself. He tells Karl that Cheryl attacked him and murdered Schneider so the girls can’t get back. Karl says 6689 may have to be decommissioned for good if it remains in stasis for much longer. Andy hopes the girls take their time. The Schneider holograms tell Davey and Jonesie they have no idea where the mascot heads are. The girls realize they’ll have to go back into the multiverse. They enter the portal as the episode ends.

Davey & Jonesie’s Locker Review

The finale of Davey & Jonesie’s Locker was on the right path until it ended a few minutes too soon. The series should’ve ended with a fitting conclusion instead of a cliffhanger because there is no guarantee this will get renewed. Dan Beirne’s performances as many variations of Stephen Schneider stood out among everything else. The story had a few neat ideas and twists along the way, but it was never fleshed out enough.

The decision to make the series a teen comedy probably didn’t do it any favors. If the story had been serious and edgy, I believe this would’ve hit the target more often. Some viewers may actually appreciate the cringe, over-the-top humor though. Others will be eager to turn it off the moment the dancing and singing begins. As a result, this is a series that viewers are either going to enjoy or despise.

At the very least, viewers should’ve felt rewarded for finishing the entire ten-episode season. With this cliffhanger ending, that probably won’t be the case. If the series is renewed, it was the right decision but there is no guarantee. I wouldn’t recommend the entire series, but I would recommend watching one or two episodes to get a feel for it. Some will be hooked and others can move on to something else. The finale scores a 5 out of 10. Recaps of Davey & Jonesie’s Locker can be found on Reel Mockery here.
