Lying Flat – As the episode opens, Woman In Red (Vanessa Curry) approaches the bar where a bartender (Tyler Courted) serves her a Dale and soda from a male patron. She looks over to see the man has left when someone calls “cut.” The Assistant Director (David Perez Babich) asks where he went. A Stagehand (Rudy Marquez) says he cannot be found anywhere. The Woman In Red discovers a dead body backstage.
Prada LaMonca asks Craig Foster (Craig Robinson) why his office is sideways. When he tries to explain, she cuts him off, knowing his answer will be “stupid.” Introductions out of the way, Isaiah Foster (Rell Battle) informs them of Rodney LaMonca’s (Tim Heidecker) plan to launch “Predator Power” supplements in three months. He boasts of his new position as Head Manager. Jillian Glopp (Claudia O’Doherty) asks if by predator he mean “sexual predator.” Craig warns it could be problematic. Isaiah says Rodney believes “controversy sells.” Looking at the payroll log, Prada demands to know why there have so many related workers. Craig stresses the importance of the Boones. She says he pays crooks for protection. Outside, Isaiah reminds him of his refusal to give him a side job when he was a crook. Craig accuses him of “stealing his dream.” Isaiah urges him to focus on the future, not the past. He announces Predator Power’s launch will take place at the NFS con with celebrity spokesman, Pitbull. After an apology, Isaiah pleads with Craig to accept his help to make up for the farm.
First-Class – Jillian boasts of a man calling her a “rich bitch” because he was jealous of her. Craig complains about the lack of legroom. The Flight Attendant (Katrina Rosita) offers them champagne. Craig urges Jillian to focus on their strategy to get enough money for a new farm. She asks if it is possible. He admits to having his eye on a plot but it will not be cheap after the pharmaceutical companies acquired all the swamp land. He says it will require a $100k down payment. They agree to a 5-year plan to achieve what they lost.
At the hotel, Rodney voices concern about three vendors selling saw palmetto extract. Isaiah assures him that their “shark collagen” has them covered. Jillian says saw palmetto has amazing benefits. After demanding she fix her sucky accent, Rodney suggests a slogan that states “ Predator Power pills prevent prostate cancer.” Craig warns against making false claims before questioning if consumers will believe he found a cancer cure. Rodney assures him that people believe what they want to. Isaiah says with Mr. Worldwide, Pitbull, it may not be necessary to fool consumers.
Penthouse, Pitbull treats Jillian and Craig to Mr. Worldwide’s official corn chips and Doctor Blanco. After Pitbull (Bryan Lugo, Paul Meyd) takes a swig of Doctor Blanco, Jillian points at his goatee stuck to the can. Joining the conference, Craig informs Rodney that he hired an imposter, not Pitbull. Rodney admits to hiring an impersonator. Craig claims they picked up on it immediately. Rodney suggests it was because they were close to Pitbull who is a long-distance impersonator. He orders them to get to work.
Back at the penthouse, Craig explains the health benefits of Predator Power. Pitbull impersonator boasts of the real Pitbull not masturbating. He warns of what it would do to Predator Power if he was caught masturbating. He rants about his split with Heather to protect the brand. Jillian offers him a drink. He assures her that he would love a drink but it would be bad for the brand. She eventually convinces him to have a drink. He tells them that he is the only Pitbull with a drinking problem. As Craig starts to call room service to order black coffee, Pitbull says he can only drink CocoVOLT, Pitbull’s official chocolate energy drink. Cursing Linda and Pitbull, Pitbull 6 leaves to masturbate.
Craig and Jillian inform Rodney of their losing Pitbull. Rodney asks if they know how much money he invested in Predator Power. Craig says nothing because the farm was stolen from him. Isaiah tells them that the conference and Pitbull impersonator cost $300k. Rodney threatens to terminate them if Pitbull is not found. Outside the conference, Craig confesses to hating the job but needs the money to invest in a new farm. Isaiah asks what he is talking about. Craig refuses to explain because they are no longer tight. Jillian discovers Pitbull 6’s phone. While being insulted by Craig, Isaiah utilizes the 305 passcode to access the phone. Contacting Pitbull 12, Craig explains what happened to Pitbull 6. The conversation goes nowhere, he ends the call. Going against Jillian’s advice, Craig calls Mr. Worldwide International to speak with Linda Fox Platt who tracks him 15 miles from the hotel.
Jillian asks how she tracked Pitbull. Linda claims to have done it through his phone. Craig tells her that they have his phone. Swearing them to secrecy, Linda confesses to embedding a “subcutaneous tracking device” into their Pitbull tattoo. They track Pitbull 6 to a local pub. Jillian receives a call from Pitbull 12 who informs her of what happened to Pitbull 9. He says Pitbull 9 did pills to deal with the stress until he died backstage at a Dale commercial. After questions Linda’s claim of it being an accident when Pitbull 9 had both wrists slit. She assures him that Pitbull 6 is good. He asks how she found him. She tells him about the tracking device in his tattoo.
Inside the pub, Pitbull 6 sings “Nothing Like Sunshine On Your Birthday.” He informs them of Ryan Mildo’s 5-year plan to become a pop star. Isaiah assures him that he would not enjoy being poor. Putting on his sunglasses, Mildo asks them to call him Pitbull. Back at the conference, Rodney shows them a video of Pitbull 12 blasting Mr. Worldwide International for violating their rights. Rodney says in a press statement, Pitbull denied any knowledge of his doubles’ working conditions. He explains how Pitbull is pulling all his endorsements. He terminates Jillian and Craig. Jillian assures him that they do not need him.
The announcer introduces Pitbull as Craig steps onto the stage. He tells the audience that their Pitbull endorsement fell through. He explains how prostate cancer killed his dad when he was 12. He set his mind on finding a cure. He claims Predator Power prevents prostate cancer in 75% of males by combining shark cartilage with saw palmetto berries. When he tells prostate cancer to “suck his dick,” the crowd goes wild. Backstage, Craig admits to lying about his father. Rodney rehires him. He questions how he will sleep with the guilt of knowing what he just did. Later, he is fast asleep on the plane.
Upon returning to the farm, Craig finds Prada at his desk. She informs him that the Boones have been terminated. He asks if they were angry. Jillian is driving down the road when Ray-Nathan Boone (Joe Massingill) makes his presence known from the backseat. The episode ends.
Killing It Review
Not the best episode. The Pitbull impersonation scheme was a bit over-the-top. Craig’s conference speech was raunchy at best. The script would be more effective if it didn’t veer off the plot so much. In the end, it is terribly confusing as new gimmicks and characters are added with episode.
