Peter Van Gael (Tom Vermeir) watches Sofie’s sexual assault video on his phone. Romee appears to send the video from her phone, with a message that reads “this was 30 years ago, now it’s payback time” to Peter. Peter curses under his breath when another message, reading “pay 100 Bitcoin before Monday 12am or the video goes viral.” When he emerges from the restroom to meet Romee, he pretends like nothing is out of place.

Luk Van Gael (Kenin Janssens) says he loves Lia Donkers (Sanne-Samina Hanssen) more than anyone before except for his son, Jens. He assures Mitonga that secrets are unhealthy for a relationship.

Lia says she believes it is wrong to have sex with someone without their consent. Mitonga asks if she is satisfied with what she eventually did with the video.

Sofie Geboers (Inge Paulussen) says after the investigation is complete, she never wants anything to do with the video again. She tells Mitonga that her wishes are for no criminal charges to be filed against anyone.

Lia admits not saying anything about the video because had been 30 years since it happened. She says when she discovered Sofie was married to Didier, it broke her heart. She says he refused to talk to Sofie about sex with Sofie. She describes his attitude as being made at the work. When Mitonga asks if Didier was aggressive, she admits to being afraid of him.

Sofie tells Mitonga that she always thought it happened but had no memory of it. She admits to feeling guilt and dirty because she blamed it on herself. She informs her that she felt Romee always thought it happened as well. Mitonga asks if Didier supported her. She says he was away when the video came to her attention. She claims it was all Romee’s idea. In a flashback, Sofie speaks to Romee about their plan to scare Peter, Didier, and Stef. She tells her that she isn’t enjoying as she imagined it. Romee suggests think rationally, not emotionally. They laugh when she haphazardly fires the skeet gun.

Lia tells Mitonga that Romee, Saskia Van Dessel (Ruth Becquart), and Sofie have known each other all their lives. She says they invited her into their clique without a problem.

Saskia admits it took some time before she could accept Lia.

Sofie Two Summers Netflix

Saskia suggests to Romee that they enjoy the weekend instead of avenging the guys for what happened to Sofie. After apologizing to Sofie, she says the guys endured enough. Sofie asks if that is how she really feels. She voices concern for her new relationship with Stef Van Gompel (Koen de Bouw). When Lia tries to interject, Saskia tells her that she wasn’t there when it happened. Sofie explains how she sometimes feels angry and numb. Lia asks her if she truly regrets what they are going to the guys. Denying feeling regret, Sofie tells Saskia that she wishes her and Stef the best. Saskia suggests they go to the police or a therapist. Romee questions if she is being real.

Stef informs Luk Van Gael (Kevin Janssens), Peter Van Gael (Lukas Bulteel), Didier Verpoorten (Herwig Ilegems) that he will put a stop to what is going on at dinner. Luk warns him that it will blow up. Didier asks what about Sofie. Stef assures them that the video won’t disappear. Didier says he will only agree if he gets to do it. They agree.

At dinner, Luk secretly alerts Didier that it is time. As he prepares to speak, Romee suggests they eat.

Saskia suggests Mitonga document her never forgiving Romee.

As everyone prepares to get their food, the video begins to play on the TV. Lia tries to stop Didier from turning it off. Luk jumps in to protect Lia. Sofie pleads with them to turn off the video before leaving. Stef asks if they can discuss it. Romee agrees with him that they all can discuss a gang rape.

Didier Two Summers Netflix

Romee sarcastically tells Peter it couldn’t have been him like it appears in the video. He points out that it appears as if Sofie got what she wanted, him. Romee laughs as he admits it does sound bad it is what happened. He assures them that the guys hadn’t set out to assault Sofie, which should count for something. Romee says she is sure it never crossed their mind to utilize her as a “living sex doll.” He claims Sofie told him only a few hours before it happened that she wanted to have sex. Lia says she may have wanted sex, not to be raped while she is unconscious. She turns to ask Sofie if she wanted to be sexually assaulted by four men. Sofie shakes her head no.

Didier claims Mark thought what he did was normal. Romee tells him that it is a shame that Mark is dead. She asks if they should be punished for what they did. Peter says not this type of punishment. He denies doing anything wrong. Luk tries to interject but Romee suggests Peter tell his side of the story. He tells them that he was pretending to penetrate Sofie. Didier reminds them of Stef entering a burning house to save a friend and Peter saving him from dying in the same fire. He frantically explains that everyone would’ve died in the fire. Crying, he assures them that he messed up while Stef tries to comfort him. Stef says only Luk didn’t take any of the sleeping pills. Romee points out that some of them went to bed after taking the sleeping pills while the rest stayed up to rape Sofie.

Saskia Two Summers Netflix

Peter suggests Romee should’ve said something 30 years ago. Romee reminds him of how he treated her like she was a “stupid girl.” Irate, she suggests he stop utilizing the pills as an excuse because people take pills without raping girls. Raising his voice, Didier accuses Lia of ruining their relationship before blaming her for what happened in the video. She assures him that everyone sees who the responsible party is. When Saskia arrives, she is shocked that they didn’t wait until she returned. Luk asks her if that night was the first time, they had sex. She says yes, why. He accuses her of lying to him for 30 years about Jens being his son. She pleads with him to stop talking.

Luk says it took 30 years to discover Jens belonged to Peter, not him. Romee is shocked by the revelation. Peter assures Romee that he wasn’t aware of Jens being his. She calls him a “filthy fu**er.” She demands to know why they never told her before leaving. Stef warns them if the video is shared with the world, their lives will be over. He suggests they make the take disappear. Romee reappears to inform them of the video being shared with Belga and other media outlets. Stef asks Saskia if she was aware of it. Romee tells him that she knew. Saskia tells him it is a lie.

Didier Two Summers Netflix

Catching up with Romee, Saskia calls her a “nasty bit**.” Romee accuses her of lying about Jens. She assures her that it was only to protect her. Romee comes clean about not sharing the video with the media. She says the “bastards” refused to admit guilt because they didn’t have the guts. Saskia reminds her that wasn’t the plan. She tells her that Peter being Jens’ father wasn’t her plan.

Peter tells Didier that the girls have been messing with them all weekend. He congratulates Romee for utilizing Sofie’s tragedy for her own “sad little war.” He accuses her of destroying everything.

Saskia tries to explain to Stef that Romee lied about everything. He refuses to open the door as she repeatedly apologizes.

Luk pushes Jens in his wheelchair across the street, where Peter is waiting. Luk hands him the letter.

Sofie cries while reading her letter. Didier comforts her.

A short video of the friends frolicking plays as the episode comes to an end.

Two Summers Review

The finale pretty much brought resolution to the video. Although Romee’s plan resulted in broken friendships and the death of a long-time friend. This is one of the best finales I have seen in a long time. There wasn’t much of a cliffhanger other than whether or not someone who be charged in connection with Stef’s death.

I was disappointed with the toilet scenes, which I found to be nothing more than a waste of precious screentime. Here, we are amid a finale, and someone is sitting on the toilet. The toilet scene is becoming more mainstream in the movie industry, even though it rarely serves a purpose.

The cast performed wonderfully under the pretense of duress. Nothing much else has changed as far as the cinematography goes.

A fantastic finale that deserves a 7. Get more Two Summers recaps here. Support Reel Mockery by clicking the link to learn more.
