As the episode begins, Daniel Milton (Mark Strong) is shown in a store. He speaks with the cashier Suzanna (Anamaria Marinca). Daniel sits down and begins enjoying his coffee. Moments later, he is approached by Lee Simmons (Daniel Mays). Lee is a patient of Daniel and he has a proposition. Lee explains that he has a secret lab and they can use it to treat people who do not want to use conventional methods. Daniel believes that he should stay out of it since the operation would be illegal and he encourages Lee to do the same. After the intro, Lee tells Daniel about a new patient. It is a man who has a wound on his face. Their conversation turns to Jamie Harris (Tobi King Bakare).

Daniel is interested in getting rid of Jamie as soon as possible. Lee says that his friend will leave when Daniel gets rid of his friend. Later, Anna (Carice van Houten) speaks with Daniel and explains that she has a new theory about treating Beth (Catherine McCormack). Anna suggests going back and using Beth’s original stem cells to generate new support cells. Anna wonders how Daniel is going to explain everything if Beth recovers. He insists that he’ll cross that bridge when he gets to it. Lee shows up to his job late. After the meeting, his boss wants to make sure that everything is okay. Lee is told that a serious conversation will be had if he is late again.

After that, Lee meets up with the new client Cormac (Martin McCann). We quickly find out that Cormac is a loudmouth. He likes to brag about the fights he has been in and such. Cormac has a big cut on his face and Daniel is going to take care of it. Once they arrive at the lab, Daniel takes a blood sample from Cormac so they can test for sepsis. Cormac tells them that he got cut after beating a man into submission. The man pulled out a knife and slashed him across the cheek. Cormac’s cousin stitched the wound. After that, Mercy King (Wunmi Mosaku) visits Sebastian (Theo Solomon) at the jail. During their conversation, Mercy is given Jamie’s name.

Next, we’re introduced to Keith Sullivan (Craig Parkinson). He teaches a self-defense class for women. After the class ends, Keith receives a call from Mercy. He agrees to meet with her later. Daniel lets Lee know that he is leaving. He tells Lee to keep an eye on Cormac. Lee suggests strapping Cormac to the bed to prevent him from doing anything crazy. After that, Keith meets up with Mercy. Keith wants something in exchange for getting revenge on Jamie. Keith is given a list of people who are considered friends of Jamie. During this time, Lee shows Jamie the serial numbers on the money he stole.

Since they’re in sequence, the authorities will be able to track the money easily. Jamie is told that it would be a bad idea to use the money. Anna goes to Eleanor (Kate Dickie) and asks for time off of work. Moments later, Daniel meets up with Simon Reynolds (Turlough Convery). He gives Simon two blood samples. Cormac’s is going to be tested for sepsis. There is a female blood sample too. Once that conversation ends, Daniel meets with his daughter Eve (Lily Newmark). They chat about their loss. In a flashback, we see Daniel bringing his wife’s body back inside. He calls Lee and agrees to accept his offer. Daniel meets up with Lee and he is given a tour of the facility.

Daniel is willing to work with Lee as long as he can keep his wife there. Back in the present, Lee takes Jamie to Beth’s body. Jamie promises not to say anything about it but he understands where Daniel is coming from. He says that he would do anything for Michelle (Siena Kelly) too. Next, we see that Michelle and Gloria (Claire Rushbrook) are with authorities. Michelle has agreed to show them where Jamie might be. They arrive at the shack and find Jamie’s blood inside. Rob Moloney (Ryan McKen) and his partner realize that Jamie likely had help alluding police. They tell Michelle that they’re not sure if Jamie is alive or dead but he has had help.

Lee tells Jamie about his dream of building a prepper shelter underground. Anna arrives and tells them that she’ll be in the lab. Before she goes, Jamie thanks her for helping him. While she admits she didn’t have a choice, she says he is welcome. Cormac wakes up and finds out that he is chained to the bed. Lee releases him but Cormac is still angry. Lee becomes flustered, turns around, and cracks his head on a nearby object. He crashes to the ground. In a flashback, Daniel’s first patient encourages him to keep the clinic going. Daniel and Lee discuss their future. Daniel doesn’t want the clinic to be long-term but he has no choice. After all, he cannot move his wife until she recovers.

Back in the present, Daniel returns and finds out that Cormac is roaming around. Cormac wants compensation for being restrained. Since everyone pays with cash, he believes that they have money hidden somewhere. Lee emerges but crashes to the ground again before Cormac steps into the lab with Anna. Daniel tries to restrain him and a fight begins. Cormac turns his attention to Anna so Daniel hits in the head with an object from behind. After that, Daniel tends to Lee’s wound. Daniel receives a call and learns that Cormac is clear. For the female in her 40s, Simon will need to conduct further testing. Next, Keith and Mercy visit Oscar Bowe. They want to speak with him about Jamie and they want to do it inside so nobody can hear him scream.

Lee places a call to police letting them know he has found a man who looks like he has been mugged or beaten up. He tells them that the man can be found at Boston Manor Park but he refuses to disclose his name. When Lee drives away, we see that the man is Cormac. Daniel tells Anna that he shouldn’t have gotten her involved. It isn’t safe so that was a bad idea. She reveals that she has received leave at work. Therefore, she is going to fully commit herself to saving Beth. Daniel asks about Jack. Anna isn’t worried since he’ll believe she is still at Phaxxol. Jamie interrupts and asks if he can make some toast.

They do not want any. In a flashback, we see that Daniel sent the boat into the sea alone. Then, he calls Eve and tells her that something bad happened. He says that Beth disappeared and the boat is missing.

 

Temple Review

I’ve enjoyed Temple so far. Things are starting to pick up. However, I still think the show has too many flashbacks. I understand the necessity for most of them. Without the flashbacks, we wouldn’t understand how Daniel and Lee got together. We would have any clue how Daniel managed to fake his wife’s death. Still, I hope this is the end of them. At the very least, I hope they are reduced a lot. Despite this minor flaw, I have enjoyed the show.

It is entertaining and I never know what is going to happen next. Things are about to get real now that someone is hunting for Jamie and I am eager to find out how that is going to play out.
