As the episode begins, we see that Jan (Bridie Carter) is still in the hospital. George (Erik Thomson) speaks with Zac (Rob Kipa-Williams) about Ike (Alex Tarrant). They join Steve (Mark Ferguson) in the lobby. Zac breaks the news that he doesn’t believe the kids are his, due to their looks. After the intro, we jump ahead in time. Jan is now staying at George’s place. Lindsay (Manon Blackman), Arlo (Benson Jack Anthony) and the others are helping with the babies. Lindsay is actually really good with them. Shay (Melina Vidler) warns Arlo that Lindsay may soon want kids of her own. Chloe (Sophie Johnson) also helps. Billy (Reon Bell) and Katie (Anna Jullienne) arrive with lasagna. We learn that the kids are being referred to as thing 1 and thing 2.
Shay visits Ike. He tells her that he wants to go swimming. Shay doesn’t like the idea, but tags along anyway. Tracey (Emma Leonard) and Woody (Rick Donald) chat about their engagement. Tracey suggests having a party. Tracey tries to convince Woody that it would be a good idea. She encourages him to speak with George about it. Lindsay tells Arlo that she worked at Shining Tots as a numpty. That is how she got so good with kids. Woody visits George and brings lasagna. He never mentions the party to George. Shay and Ike enjoy a dip. Ike scares Shay when he goes under and doesn’t return. When he returns to the beach, he explains that the god of the sea Tangaroa has his back. Siouxsie (Olivia Tennet) and Monty (Jonny Brugh) arrive with lasagna. Jan finally gets up. George helps her get back in bed. Shay and Ike run into Ollie (Henry Beasley).
Ollie doesn’t seem happy to see Ike and Shay back together. Meanwhile, George and the others get blood tests to determine who could be the baby. Fiona (Michelle Langstone) takes George’s blood. George promises that Fiona will have her own baby someday. After a visit to the store, Ike becomes withdrawn from Shay. He tells her to go home, so he can have some time to think. George speaks with Big Mac (Peter Elliott) at the office. He learns that he still has his old job. He also encourages Big Mac to visit Jan. Fiona learns about the engagement party. She agrees to throw a surprise party, so the locals don’t get upset with Woody and Tracey. Back at home, Arlo and Shay get into a spat about their relationships. George finds Steve cooking. He learns that Steve really does love Jan. Big Mac speaks with Jan. He apologizes for his earlier comments and soon learns that Jan prefers one of the men over the others.
Big Mac believes she is referring to George. Big Mac tells George moments later. George holds the baby, while Woody and Tracey try to practice being surprised. Arlo and Lindsay return home to find George asleep with the baby. He wakes up when it begins crying. In the morning, Fiona arrives with the test results. Ike does his best to avoid Shay. After the other potential fathers arrive, they learn that Steve is the daddy. Jan admits she wanted it to be him. Monty decides to take Woody and Tracey house hunting even though they’re not looking to buy. The others wait at the boat club to surprise them. After a few unnecessary stops, Monty finally gets them to the boat club for the surprise party. Shay visits Ike. Ike explains that he was surrounded by people when he was in the water. Shay doesn’t understand and makes a joke out it.
Again, Ike sends her away. He admits they shouldn’t have gotten back together in the first place. Jan arrives at the party and thanks George. She also reveals that they’re headed back to Sydney. Woody is forced to make a speech. He finishes and runs outside. George chases him. George learns that Woody is already married.
800 Words Review
This was probably one of the best episodes of 800 Words in a long time. It could have done without the Ike and Shay drama, but it was still good nonetheless. We finally learned that Steve was the father of Jan’s babies. We also discovered why Woody was hesitant to marry Tracey. He is already married. All in all, the episode was very entertaining. It scores an 8 out of 10. Catch up with previous recaps of 800 Words now!
